Add the oil and onion to a medium pan on high heat. Cook for 4 minutes, or until golden. Then add the garlic and cook for another couple of minutes, until fragrant.
Add the cooked onion, garlic, and all remaining ingredients, excluding the chives, to a food processor and blend until smooth. Then stir in the chives by hand.
Serve immediately, or cover and refrigerate for 2 hours or overnight to allow the flavours to meld. Drizzle with olive oil and a bit of balsamic vinegar before serving, if desired. Enjoy!

If I could give this 10 stars I would! It’s just bursting with flavour. The lemon and sun dried tomatoes are the stars of this recipe. I think you could layer anything on top of it and it will taste good. It’s just so wow!

Woohoo! So happy that the white bean dip is being enjoyed, Angela, thank you 🙌
Delicious. Reminds me of my childhood, when nobody had heard of hummus but we were mixing white beans into a creamy paste and a sauce made of fried onion, garlic and tomato paste. We’d toast bread, rub it with garlic and add the bean paste and a generous serving of the topping!

Aw love the personal connection to the recipe, Carla, thanks for sharing your childhood recipe and experience with this dip 🥰
This is freaking delicious! Not a wasted bit inside my food processor…. Im so looking forward to eating this throughout my week…if I don’t eat it all tonight 😊
Hey I wanted to know about a substitute for balsamic vinegar as I can't really afford it right now but want to try out this mouth watering dip 🥺

Hey Sharmita! Balsamic vinegar helps to add flavour and depth to the dip. You could omit it, or experiment with an alternative vinegar with sugar to taste. For example, red wine vinegar with some syrup often works well 🙂
Just had this on some Swedish crisp bread and the combo is delicious! This is a creamy dip with depth and umami and it works really well with something crispy.

Mmm sounds lovely, Jonna, we're so happy the dip was enjoyed 🤗
This tasted great! Put it in a veggie wrap. I love to include beans whenever I can, and this was a refreshing change- white beans are so mild it didn't feel bean-forward at all. Just yummy flavors of sundried tomato (ok may have put extra of those). Thx!

I did something similar with red kidney beans and it tasted delicious, much better than hummus in my opinion. Thanks for the recipe.

Un dip parfait pour changer du houmous. Facile et équilibré. A refaire quand on reçoit du monde

just made it with chickpeas instead of the white beans. also very good.
I saute mybonions with portobello mushrooms and added that into the mix. It was phenomenal. Waiting 2 hours before consuming is key.

I love the tanginess of the lemon and vinegar and the freshness of the chives in this one, it's addictive!
I liked the hummuses best, but this was a welcome alternative!
