Aren’t you supposed to soak chia seeds?

PUL Team - March 12, 2024, 5:29 a.m.

Hey there, MB, while soaking chia seeds can enhance their texture, it's not necessary in this smoothie. The blending process will help break down the chia seeds making them easier to digest and improving the absorption of nutrients. Feel free to soak them if you'd like though 😊

jodie - March 9, 2024, 7:26 p.m.

Allergic to pineapple... what about using banana, or apple?

PUL Team - March 10, 2024, 8:42 p.m.

Hey Jodie, we've heard positive reviews for mango or orange in place of pineapple. They offer a nice sweetness but you could also use banana or apple if you'd like as well :)

Nicole Mostofa - March 2, 2024, 4:51 p.m.

Had to sub celery fpr cucumber. So delicious!

Gliselle Marin - Feb. 21, 2024, 1:42 p.m.

I loved this smoothie bowl! The pineapple adds just the right amount of sweetness. With the right blender you can also just have it as a regular smoothie.

Cassidy - Jan. 5, 2024, 9:27 a.m.

Personally not a fan of the flavour but looks beautiful

Cassidy - Jan. 5, 2024, 11:04 a.m.

Edit: Tastes much better when ate with the toppings 👍

PUL Team - Jan. 5, 2024, 8:12 p.m.

Hey Cassidy! The toppings indeed elevate the smoothie bowl. Thanks 😊

Genna - Oct. 17, 2023, 9:22 p.m.

So fresh green and a little zing from the pineapple! I love it, I always make the same old smoothie so this feels like a treat ☺️

Erin Janda - Aug. 11, 2023, 9:39 p.m.

Oh wow! The combination of flavors is so refreshing. I don’t think I’ve ever had a smoothie with cucumber before, and this one was the perfect introduction.

Jaclyn - Aug. 2, 2023, 8:08 p.m.

I love starting the day with this smoothie bowl, delicious and beautiful!

Julie Golick - July 10, 2023, 2:27 p.m.

The taste is great, but it required significantly more liquid to blend than written in the recipe. Admittedly I froze the fruits and vegetables as “smoothie packs” so I could meal prep breakfast — maybe that’s what required more liquid. Still, very tasty!

Celina - July 1, 2023, 9:11 a.m.

This is absolutely delicious! I love all of your smoothie recipes, but this one (and the salted caramel smoothie) is the best by far!
Thank you for the recipe!

PUL Team - July 4, 2023, 12:33 a.m.

Woohoo! Thank you so very much, Celina ✨

Tania Allan - June 28, 2023, 12:54 p.m.

Made as is written (but with almond milk). Put berries, pomegranate and granola on top. Thick and creamy and filling and delicious.

Maureen Brown - June 13, 2023, 10:06 p.m.

Very easy and tasty!! It doesn’t really taste like you’re eating a salad which is superb! It has a very warm, almond butter flavor I think above all. Really good!

Dan - June 11, 2023, 2:05 p.m.

Adele - July 4, 2022, 8:38 a.m.

Delicious smoothie, unbelievable! But I really shouldn't be surprised since every time I prepare a PUL recipe, it's always so so tasty! 🥰

PUL Team - July 4, 2022, 7:58 p.m.

Aw so happy to hear, Adele, thank you!

Aurore - June 10, 2022, 6:19 p.m.

Hi Sadia,

I would not have thought I would enjoy eating that many vegetables for breakfast, but it is just the perfect healthy version of a smoothie for those who wants to avoid a sugar kick right from the start of the day, and with the pineapple, it just adds a touch of sweetness without beeing overpowering and you can't taste the tartness of the spinach. I add a little bit more milk because the texture is slighlty to thick for my liking, but other than that, it's perfect!

PUL Team - June 13, 2022, 3:39 p.m.

Hi there, Aurore, we appreciate the very kind words and feedback! We've taken note to help us improve. So glad it was still enjoyed 🤗

Louise Magnusson 🇸🇪 - June 10, 2022, 7:53 a.m.

Funny to have a green smoothie with vegetables and fruits 😊. I did not use maple syrup (pineapple is sufficiently sweet) and frozen cucumber (never have leftovers to freeze😅). I replaced the cucumber with more avocado, and the smoothie became very creamy!
I will use more oat milk next time since the smoothie was too thick and frozen to get out from the high speed blender…
A rather small portion, so I topped my green smoothie with strawberries, one crumbled PUL hazelnut granola bar and coconut flakes

PUL Team - June 13, 2022, 3:26 p.m.

Hey Louise, thank you for taking the time to share to help PUL grow. This smoothie base is on the thicker side although we imagine the avocado would indeed make it creamier compared to cucumbers which contain more water. The toppings sound lovely to bulk up the bowl 🥰

Sara - May 18, 2022, 3:32 p.m.

can you freeze your veggies without it loosing nutrients? I'd like to do smoothie meal prep and store it in the freezer, or can I only do it and store it in the fridge so the veggies don't loose their nutrients?

also I love this website/YouTube sooo much!

PUL Team - May 19, 2022, 1:57 a.m.

Hey Sara, freezing unprocessed vegetables often helps lock in their nutrients and flavour. Stored smoothies though typically lose some of their nutrients over time. Here's an interesting article with some tips in case you're interested: https://extension.umn.edu/pre….

Smoothies tend to separate when stored so we'd recommend storing the smoothie ingredients unblended and blending closer to enjoying if possible. If you do want to store it though, airtight glass jars work better than general cups usually. We hope this helps for now 😊

selina - March 21, 2022, 10:04 a.m.

OMG that was delicious. I swapped out the frozen pineapple for frozen mango, since my grocery store didn’t have any. I also switched out the cucumber for zucchini. Love the recipe 😍

PUL Team - March 23, 2022, 3:04 a.m.

Lovely substitutions, Selina, we're so happy the smoothie was enjoyed!

Bonnie - March 3, 2022, 4:20 a.m.

Yummy, thank you for the recipe!! Love the cucumber, so glad my friend told me about your website!

PUL Team - March 4, 2022, 1:53 a.m.

We're so glad they did too, Bonnie, thank you!

Dharma - Feb. 2, 2022, 12:22 p.m.

Just wanted to know if tinned pineapple chunks (non frozen) and unfrozen cucumber would be fine?

PUL Team - Feb. 3, 2022, 4:36 a.m.

Hey Dharma, yes you can use unfrozen. The smoothie won't end up as thick or creamy, so you could opt to use less liquid to start, or add ice chunks to make the smoothie thicker if desired 😊

Kathy - Sept. 11, 2021, 12:24 a.m.

I really loved this smoothie, I had to swap the avocado for a banana because I didn’t have any but when I do have an avocado I will sure make this recipe again!

PUL Team - Sept. 12, 2021, 3:39 a.m.

A lovely substitute, Kathy, thanks for sharing your experience with the smoothie 😃

Kristy - Aug. 28, 2021, 3:33 p.m.

Delicious! Thanks for idea of using frozen cucumber ~ now I know what to do with the abundance of cucumbers in my garden ~ slice and freeze for smoothies! Definitely will be making this frequently!

PUL Team - Aug. 28, 2021, 11:15 p.m.

Aw we're so thrilled to hear, Kristy, thank you for sharing! Happy smoothie making 🤗

Sara - July 30, 2021, 12:58 a.m.

LOVE this smoothie recipe! I really liked that it was banana-less, since bananas can cause me issues at times. Thank you!

Michelle - July 28, 2021, 11:13 p.m.

Ah I absolutely love this smoothie!! I usually really don’t like avocados in my smoothie and I only tolerate spinach but this one tastes wonderful! The perfect way to have some veggies in the morning 😊

PUL Team - July 29, 2021, 2:07 a.m.

So glad you're enjoying the smoothie, Michelle, thanks a bunch ☺️

Benita - July 27, 2021, 5:11 p.m.

Made this for my family. I enjoyed eating this creamy nutritious breakfast. I added a few frozen blueberries and sprinkled ground flax seeds on top.

Agnes - July 26, 2021, 3:20 p.m.

This is a really tasty recipe. The perfect way to start the day without feeling too full. All the nutrients you need are in this easy-to-make recipe. Extra fruits and home-made granola are always an extra additions in my household. :) Thank you <3

PUL Team - July 28, 2021, 3:42 a.m.

Aw, this is so sweet to hear, Agnes, thank you for sharing!

Meg - July 25, 2021, 4:49 p.m.

I love the amount of goodness packed into this recipe. I wasn't sure about adding the vanilla at first (I don't usually do that in my smoothies), but honestly anytime I've questioned an ingredient in a PUL recipe I've been wrong. The PUL recipes are so well balanced that unless you have an aversion to a particular ingredient (me w/ vanilla), there's really no need to change a thing. That being said, although I was pleasantly surprised by how much I DID like it with the full vanilla, I do think this smoothie will taste even better on my palate with maybe 1/2 the amount.

I also subbed the cucumber for zucchini and it was delicious. Thanks, PUL team!

PUL Team - July 25, 2021, 9:56 p.m.

Thank you, Meg, for the glowing review and very kind words! It means so much 🥰

Karen - July 21, 2021, 10:23 p.m.

Could I use peanut butter instead of almond?
Thank you 😊

PUL Team - July 22, 2021, 5:56 a.m.

Hi Karen, thanks for the question! You can use peanut butter in place of almond butter. Generally, any nut or seed butter will do. Hope you enjoy the recipe 😃

Amy Stieg - July 14, 2021, 10:17 p.m.

This is becoming my go to smoothie because it is sweet, balanced and tons of veggies! I substituted frozen zucchinis for the cucumbers to take out the cucumber flavor , but both are great!

PUL Team - July 18, 2021, 1:28 a.m.

A wonderful substitute, Amy, thank you for the review :D

Clare - July 13, 2021, 3:57 p.m.

I'm not usually into green smoothies but this one was a pleasant surprise!

Kathryn - July 8, 2021, 10:50 p.m.

I have had this more than once with different fruit combinations using mango or orange instead of pineapple and using zucchini instead of cucumber and it tastes delicious every time. My entire family enjoys it. Thank you PUL team!

PUL Team - July 11, 2021, 2:54 p.m.

Lovely substitution ideas, Kathryn! We're so happy your family is enjoying it 🤗

Cris S - June 5, 2021, 6:47 a.m.

Want a green smoothie that tastes like dessert? This is the one! 😉

PUL Team - June 5, 2021, 8:57 p.m.

Thank you, Cris, for the review! We love a good dessert - even if it's green 😜

Aurelia Zajaczkowska - May 20, 2021, 11:08 p.m.

Just wanted to know if frozen spinach is fine?

PUL Team - May 22, 2021, 9:28 p.m.

Totally fine, Aurelia! We hope you enjoy the smoothie bowl 😃

Marlin - May 17, 2021, 7:50 a.m.

Amazing ..
I used mango instead of pineapple and peanut butter instead of almond works well ..
I need to add more liquid ..

PUL Team - May 19, 2021, 6:15 p.m.

Delicious substitutions, Marlin! Thank you for the review. It's a thicker smoothie but extra liquid totally helps make it thinner☺️

Jigya - May 14, 2021, 5:30 p.m.

I was very skeptical that this would not taste good. I did not have pineapple, so replaced that with frozen bananas and mangoes- it was absolutely delicious, did not think you could add cucumber to a smoothie.

PUL Team - May 15, 2021, 10:26 p.m.

We're so glad you enjoyed the smoothie, Jigya! Lovely sub and so wonderful to hear that the cucumber was a pleasant surprise ☺️

eva - May 14, 2021, 8:06 a.m.

This smoothie was delicious! Thank you for the recipe.)
PS - your new website is absolutey perfect! I love the tick option in text section so I can follow the recipe more smoothly when cooking (especially for a bit more complicated recipes). Robin did great job! Hands down - you have the best website out there! :)

PUL Team - May 15, 2021, 9:42 p.m.

You're too kind, Eva, thank you so much for the support! So happy you enjoyed the smoothie as well :D
