    avocado
  • 1
    frozen banana
  • 1 cup (240 mL)
    unsweetened oat milk*
  • ½ cup (120 mL)
    unsweetened soy yogurt*
  • 1 cup (150 g)
    frozen blueberries**
  • ½ cup (75 g)
    frozen pineapple chunks
  • 2
    cardamom pods, seeds only (optional)
  • ⅛ tsp
    ground cinnamon

Optional garnish

  • fresh blueberries
  • fresh mint leaves
  • unsweetened shredded coconut

Directions

Click:

  1. Add all ingredients to a high-speed blender and blend until smooth.
  2. Pour the smoothie in tall glasses and top with desired garnish. Enjoy!

Notes

  • * Nutrition tip: aim to use plant-based yogurt and milk that are fortified with calcium.
  • ** We used frozen wild blueberries, which we've found gives a more vibrant purple colour once blended.

Oh my goodness this smoothie is amazing 🤩 it’s so smooth and creamy (and not too avocado-y for people like me who aren’t fans of strong avocados) and the cinnamon and vanilla are such wonderful additions! Not only does it taste good but it’s such a beautiful colour too, it just made me so happy 😊

Great recipe!
The PUL smoothie recipes in general use frozen fruits or veggies. Is that a crucial requirement or just enhances taste and texture? Do I need to add some chilled water to the smoothie in case I don't have frozen fruits ?

Hi Swati ☺️ Frozen fruits and veggies can help give smoothies a delicious creaminess and cold temperature that we enjoy (they also may be cheaper and last longer than fresh options depending on where home is for you!). Totally okay to use fresh ones instead. If you're finding the smoothie too runny or warm for your liking, adding some ice to the recipe may help 🧊

This looks delicious! Is there a substitute for bananas? I love smoothies and would love to try it, but I have a family member allergic to them.

Some substitute ideas may include using other frozen fruits with a sweet aftertaste (such as mango, pineapple, pumpkin, or berries), adding more avocado or yogurt in place of the banana, or trying soaked cashews. I love this recipe! The addition of cardamon and cinnamon add a little spicy taste that wakes up all my mouth. Its fresh and cool and a perfect summer breakfast. I ate it as a smoothie bowl and I add a little bit of granola, hemp seed and dried coconut.

I would love trying this smoothie but don’t really like pineapples... is it just a subtile flavor of it? Or does anyone has suggestions what I can swap it with? I have already tried the raspberry lemon smoothie and I love the diversity these compositions have! It just tasted like eating ice cream for breakfast. 😍 Thank you!
