Smoothie

This smoothie bowl is made on repeat in our home. The ginger gives this smoothie a bit of spice, and the beetroot gives it an earthy flavour. If you're not a fan of either, just leave them out, which will give this smoothie more of a milder and sweeter taste.

Strange but amazing smoothie!! I love it! I would never thought spinach, peanut butter, and ginger would be a good combination. I also appreciate that you use oranges instead of orange juice since I hate buying orange juice. Eagerly awaiting more smoothie recipes with raspberries (and blackberries?) :) Your smoothies have been essential to breaking my coffee addiction during my pregnancy so thank you! …although I am sure my neighbor hates the high speed blender buzzing early in the morning.

Hey Betty, aw we're so glad you're enjoying the immune booster smoothie and thanks for the request! In the meantime, in case you use the app, you may like our blood orange smoothie bowl which includes raspberries 😊

kirsten lashmar - Jan. 21, 2024, 9:22 a.m.

Made this on the fly before shopping as trying the app out.usedgolden beetroot and blueberries as it's what I had. Green smoothie but still yum.

Tania Allan - June 29, 2023, 12:18 p.m.

Made this as a grab and go smoothie this morning. Bumped the liquid to 3/4cup almond milk and it was perfect 👍🏻

Tania Allan - June 16, 2023, 1:56 p.m.

This was excellent! I topped with more frozen raspberries, granola and cacao nibs. I only had those cooked “Love Beets” and it worked great! I’ll definitely make this again. Trouble is I scarfed it down in under 10 minutes haha

Maite - May 23, 2023, 7:22 p.m.

Beets are one of the few vegetables I don’t like but I included it anyway. I’m so glad I did. I could hardly taste the beet. I mostly tasted the ginger and raspberries, but it was such a good, creamy smoothie. My favorite one so far. Not too sweet but with a satisfying spicy kick from the ginger.

PUL Team - May 23, 2023, 7:54 p.m.

Whoop whoop! So happy to hear the smoothie was enjoyed, Maite, thank you 🤗

Laura - May 14, 2023, 3:33 a.m.

I love this so much. Thank you for you recipe.

Daphne - Jan. 5, 2023, 10:25 p.m.

Lovely smoothie! The ginger gives it a great kick, good start of my veganuary :)

A delicious and healthy smoothie, loved it!

Iwonttellyou - Oct. 28, 2022, 8:37 a.m.

Putting oranges in smoothies ist in my opinion not a good idea. But I wanted to try it out though. Even after mixing for quite long there are still peaces of the orange skin in the smoothie and fibres of the spinach, too. I personally don't like that, but possibly there are people who do?

PUL Team - Oct. 28, 2022, 6:17 p.m.

Hey there, thank you for taking the time to share - how disappointing! A high-speed blender is key for this one to help break down the fruit. We'll note down the feedback in the meantime to help us improve 🙂

Cate - March 27, 2022, 11:36 p.m.

Possibly my favorite PUL smoothie recipe! I was skeptical of the combination of ingredients (and personally choose to skip the beets), but it is so incredibly flavorful, delicious, and satisfying.

PUL Team - March 28, 2022, 8:26 p.m.

Such incredible feedback, Cate, thank you for the glowing review 🤩

Louise Magnusson🇸🇪 - Oct. 31, 2021, 8:20 p.m.

Marvellous smoothie: creamy, fresh, and a spicy kick in the morning! It’s really nice to have a little bit of ginger and tart raspberry breaking through the sweetness. The beet root is definitely only for colour😅. I used a smooth cashew butter instead of peanut butter, as the former doesn’t have a too characteristic flavour. Conclusively, I like it very much and it’s nice to eat together with PUL double chocolate granola. However, I can imagine that your almond and coconut granola might be even better👌🏻

PUL Team - Nov. 3, 2021, 8:41 p.m.

So glad the smoothie was enjoyed, Louise! We enjoy the earthy flavour the beetroot gives although it's totally fine to omit it. Love the granola pairing idea 😍

Nadine - Oct. 30, 2021, 12:35 p.m.

Thank you so much for this recipe, it´s so good!

Marina - Oct. 16, 2021, 8:19 a.m.

It’s one of my favorite smoothies now! Thanks for sharing this recipe!

A huge compliment, Marina! Thank YOU 🤗

Kim Treadwell - Aug. 8, 2021, 6:28 p.m.

PUL recipes make me happy. This Immune Booster Smoothie is no exception. It's so yummy, and that's after making a couple of substitutions because of what I had on hand. I didn't have a beet or raspberries so I added an extra orange to use it up (it was getting close to being gifted to birds) and used frozen strawberries. When I make this smoothie again and follow the recipe exactly I'm sure it will be beyond delicious. Another winning recipe!

By the way, the Carrot Cake Overnight Oats recipe in PUL's Ecookbook is pure perfection. When I first opened the Ecookbook near the end of the day I planned on quickly browsing it, flagging a few recipes to try next, and giving it proper attention the next day. I stopped flagging recipes after I noticed I was flagging nearly every recipe. Carrot Cake Overnight Oats was the first recipe from the Ecookbook I tried. For that recipe alone I'd buy the Ecookbook many times over. It's so good!

PUL Team - Aug. 8, 2021, 11:02 p.m.

Aw you're much too kind, Kim! Thanks for sharing the glowing review for the recipe and e-cookbook. It means so much more than we can express and we're so thrilled you're enjoying the PUL content. Thank you for being here, Kim 💚

Rachel - July 24, 2021, 11:39 p.m.

Easy, healthy and delicious! My family aren’t the biggest smoothie people but they loved this so will definitely be making again… and again.. and again!

PUL Team - July 26, 2021, 8:45 p.m.

Woohoo! So happy to hear your family is enjoying the smoothie, Rachel 🤩

Cat - July 20, 2021, 12:07 a.m.

I literally make this smoothie every morning for breakfast, it is so delicious and versatile.
It is equally as good a smoothie or topped with granola, often leaving out the nut butter when adding granola to make it a smoothie bowl.
I have found that you can sub the orange for other fruits such as mango, pineapple or apple depending on what you have on hand and it turns out great.
Really great recipe <3

PUL Team - July 20, 2021, 3:38 p.m.

Ooo thanks a bunch for sharing, Cat, the substitutes sound delicious!

Cris S - June 27, 2021, 12:42 p.m.

The PUL smoothies are the most creative, balanced and tasty smoothies ever and this one is no exception! The peanut butter and ginger combo is devine!

PUL Team - June 27, 2021, 6 p.m.

So happy to hear you've been enjoying PUL smoothies, Cris! Thank you 🤗

Leah - June 12, 2021, 7:27 p.m.

Absolutely love this unique smoothie bowl recipe, made it twice this week! I like making my own smoothie bowls at home, I would have never thought to use raw beets and was pleasantly surprised. :)

PUL Team - June 13, 2021, 1:02 a.m.

We appreciate this so much, Leah, thank you for the review!

Zee - June 8, 2021, 8:31 p.m.

Is the beet in this recipe supposed to be raw? I see a comment that someone used a baked beet but that wasn't clear from the recipe so intrigued to know what was used above and does raw beet not taste hard and weird?

Separately, I have a completely tangential question (not related to a particular recipe) and possibly a suggestion that can enhance the site further - what's the best way to get in touch with Sadia re: those? Is there a direct email I can use?

PUL Team - June 9, 2021, 6:24 a.m.

Hello Zee, indeed the beetroot is raw in this recipe! It helps add some colour and a bit of an earthy flavour that isn't too overpowering. Feel free to use baked beet if you prefer though 🙂

We always love to hear feedback and suggestions as well, it's so appreciated! You can contact us at [email protected]

Paulina Łaczmańska - April 26, 2021, 7:36 p.m.

The only things I changed are adding one banana instead of two and using a baked beet. And it was superb! I love your recipes and cook with them regularly. Thank you for such a delicious recipe! I send a biiiig hug from Poland! <3

PUL Team - April 27, 2021, 5:37 a.m.

Ooo sounds delicious, Paulina, thanks for sharing! Sending a super big hug back to Poland 🤗
