    canned full-fat coconut milk

    ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp (5 mL)
  • 2
    soft Medjool dates, pits removed

  • 2 Tbsp (30 mL)
    brewed espresso (optional)
  • 1 Tbsp (15 mL)

Directions

  1. Add all ingredients, except for the maple syrup, to a high-speed blender** and blend on high until smooth and creamy.
  2. Pour this mixture straight into a saucepan. If your blender isn't very powerful, or if you don't like small fibres to remain in your drink, strain the mixture first when pouring it into the saucepan.
  3. Place on the stove on medium-high heat until warmed through, whisking throughout the prevent burning.
  4. Taste test, and if you like it sweeter, add up to 1 Tbsp maple syrup. To turn it into a turmeric latte, add in some brewed espresso if desired.
  5. When warm, pour into mugs, sprinkle on a bit of cinnamon, and enjoy!

Notes

  • * Nutrition tip: aim to use plant-based milk that is fortified with calcium.
  • ** If you don't have a blender, simply substitute the dates with 1 Tbsp (15 mL) maple syrup. In this way, you can skip using the blender, but it will make the drink slightly less creamy.

Storage

  • Best to enjoy this drink immediately.
  • This drink can be blended ahead of time, stored in a mason jar for up to a day before warming it in a saucepan on the stove.

Delicious start to my morning!

Melissa - April 6, 2022, 7:34 p.m.

Is it possible to use your Golden Latte Instant Mix here instead of the spices for a quicker prep time?

PUL Team - April 7, 2022, 12:53 a.m.

Ooo yes that's a lovely idea, Melissa! If you tend to prefer less sweet drinks you could also start with fewer dates and add more to taste ☺️

Melissa - April 7, 2022, 12:57 a.m.

Fantastic! I will try it this week! Thanks so much for the recipes!

Julia - April 2, 2022, 12:02 p.m.

Delicious, switched out soya for oat milk x

Cate - March 27, 2022, 11:32 p.m.

The perfect golden milk recipe! This one is definitely my favorite I've made, and it's great to have something warm and comforting (and without caffeine) at night.

PUL Team - March 28, 2022, 8:22 p.m.

We're so happy it's being enjoyed, Cate!

Nici - March 24, 2022, 10:53 a.m.

this recipe for golden milk is one of the best I've tried. I've shared it around at work and had salesmen raving about it !! Its utterly gorgeous and I love making it

PUL Team - March 24, 2022, 3:23 p.m.

Such a huge compliment, Nici! It means so much ✨

Vessa - March 13, 2022, 12:16 a.m.

Wow!!! This is amazing 👏

Alex - Feb. 26, 2022, 1:27 a.m.

This is so lovely and so simple. Thank you!

Isobelle - Feb. 20, 2022, 12:48 p.m.

Made this tonight for my family and it was a wonderfully creamy & comforting drink. I found the two large dates just enough sweetness and didn't need to use the maple syrup. Will be trying the peanut caramel latte next! ☕

PUL Team - Feb. 20, 2022, 9:51 p.m.

So thrilled to hear, Isobelle, and we hope you enjoy the next latte 😃

ChristinaO - Feb. 14, 2022, 7:58 p.m.

Fantastic delicious and so comforting !

Samruddhi - Jan. 27, 2022, 12:43 p.m.

Hi Sadia! I am making this drink more often. It's super delicious. Never thought turmeric milk will ever be so tasty.
Also, I wanted to ask can we eat soaked almonds with this drink? (not add it in it)

PUL Team - Jan. 27, 2022, 8:18 p.m.

Hi, Samruddhi, we're so glad the drink is being enjoyed! Almonds sound like delicious paring. If you're interested and haven't already seen it, we have an article on soaking here: pickuplimes.com/article/benef…

Shuchita Tripathi - Dec. 25, 2021, 6:14 a.m.

I have made this multiple times and it tastes amazing. Turmeric milk is a common drink in India, but it involves using the turmeric raw. My mom does not like the taste of raw turmeric so I took your idea to boil the milk with turmeric for a few minutes. It gets rid of that raw taste.
And adding cinnamon, vanilla makes it such an amazing drink.

PUL Team - Dec. 25, 2021, 7:52 p.m.

Thanks a bunch for taking the time to share this, Shuchita! It means so much 😃

Nishkami Patel - Dec. 3, 2021, 2:17 a.m.

Can I use whole milk instead of plant based milk? Also in that case do I need to use coconut cream? Also congratulations on your engagement!!

PUL Team - Dec. 3, 2021, 9:54 p.m.

Hey there, Nishkami, thanks a bunch for the kind words and question 🤗 Since we only use plant-based products here at PUL we haven't tested it out, but we hope you enjoy the drink if you're able to give it a try!

Katie - April 21, 2022, 1:05 a.m.

Hello Nishkami, I used whole milk and it still turns out delicious!

SY - Nov. 29, 2021, 2:01 a.m.

great recipe! I used almond milk only and added some fennel seeds and was delicious! I also used honey instead.

Sav B - Nov. 25, 2021, 4:12 p.m.

I'm trying each of these recipes everyday in cold Florida and loving the new take on each one.

PUL Team - Nov. 26, 2021, 12:05 a.m.

We're so happy the recipes are being enjoyed, Sav! Sending hugs to Florida 🤗

Lynne - Nov. 9, 2021, 11:45 a.m.

I have made different versions of this drink overtime and am definitely going to try this. I'm going to attempt making it in a milk frother rather than use the blender and then stove. Question ... Do you not have to heat the spices first in the pan, similar to if you were cooking off flour when making a roux?

PUL Team - Nov. 9, 2021, 4:42 p.m.

Hi Lynne, thanks for the question! In this recipe, we don't have to heat the spices first for ease and to reduce their chance of burning. We hope you enjoy it if you're able to give the recipe a try 😊

Jessie - Oct. 4, 2021, 1:34 p.m.

I have this at least once a week! It is so good, and your YT channel is such an inspiration!!!!!!!!

PUL Team - Oct. 4, 2021, 6:09 p.m.

Aw thanks for the lovely feedback, Jessie, it means so much!

Michaela - Oct. 1, 2021, 11:09 a.m.

Mmmmmm😋

Mags - Sept. 3, 2021, 8:22 a.m.

I cannot begin to tell you how often I make this. It has become an essential to my morning routine during COVID. It's so soothing and thick and SO tasty.

Georgiana - July 30, 2021, 2:41 p.m.

I never thought I would love a turmeric milk so much - this one is freaking delicious! I really, really, really recommend it!

One question: if using a shot of espresso, does the caffeine retain the absorption of turmeric?

PUL Team - Aug. 4, 2021, 2:20 a.m.

Hi there, Georgiana! Thanks for the question and lovely review. We've looked into it briefly and can't find any compelling evidence on caffeine and turmeric. It looks like a topic with growing research though so perhaps in the future we can explore it more in an article 😃 In the meantime, you may find the turmeric articles on nutritionfacts.org interesting! Such as their article related to it's bioavailibiliy: nutritionfacts.org/video/boos… ☺️

Georgiana - Oct. 5, 2021, 6:07 p.m.

Thank you very much!! <3

Aiman - July 27, 2021, 9:36 p.m.

This drink was our little nutritious friend during the challenging times of the pandemic! Absolutely yumm and comforting. Thanks for the recipe Sadia!

PUL Team - July 30, 2021, 11:20 a.m.

Aw so glad you enjoyed it, Aiman, thanks for sharing 🌻

Elizabeth - July 27, 2021, 4:29 p.m.

Absolutely LOVE this drink and one of my go-tos (well, all PUL's recipes are incredible and my go-tos but this has to be one of the staples to curb after-dinner sugar cravings!). The black pepper adds that little edge to warm you up inside :) Any tips on how to stop the blitzed date sinking to the bottom and instead make it amalgamate more into the drink? Is it the dates I'm using? Anyway still a 5 star recipe by all means!

PUL Team - July 29, 2021, 1:37 a.m.

Hey Elizabeth, we appreciate this so much! Indeed, because we've chosen to sweeten the drink with dates, you may notice a bit of date "puree" in the drink. Using a super-high-speed blender might help blitz up the pieces into small enough pieces that you might not even notice, as was the case with our Vitamix. Soaking the dates ahead of time may also help soften them even more so they blend more easily. Alternatively, you could also opt for 1 Tbsp of maple or agave syrup instead of the dates to sweeten the beverage to avoid the blitzed date residue ☺️ I hope this helps for now!

Charese - July 24, 2021, 7:41 p.m.

I was looking for recipes with Turmeric in it. I saw this drink and made it. The Golden Milk was good.

Stephanie - July 14, 2021, 9:23 a.m.

Clémentine - July 10, 2021, 1:02 a.m.

Great recipe !

Nella - July 9, 2021, 5:08 a.m.

This has become one of my favourite drinks to get me through the cold Canadian winters. It tastes so good that you wouldn't believe it's healthy for you!

Casey - July 9, 2021, 4:03 a.m.

Before I tried this recipe I had been searching for the best golden milk, but she ended my search completely!! Literally the best golden milk latte I have ever tasted! Prob make this at least 3 times a week without fail. Sidenote: I do add a dash of ginger for the extra kick

PUL Team - July 13, 2021, 4:21 a.m.

Such a lovely review, Casey, thank you!

Lana R - July 8, 2021, 7:35 p.m.

(TLDR; So creamy and comforting, you have to add it into the mix during the cold season!) Side note: I really love how this website gets right to the point with recipes. I really hate having to scroll through a long winded post just to find the deets. This site is beautiful! Ok, back to the milk! I tried this over the holiday season and this drink made me feel like I was such a health nut. It’s like you level up in life, when you drink this. I do have to add a touch more syrup for the next go-around, because I’m still training myself to consume less sugar. Bravo!

PUL Team - July 10, 2021, 6:58 p.m.

Aww we're so glad you're enjoying the new website, Lana! ✨🥰

Nehir - April 20, 2021, 2:20 p.m.

This has become the ultimate comfort drink for me , thank you so much for your amazing recipe.

PUL Team - April 22, 2021, 1:27 a.m.

A lovely compliment, Nehir! So glad you're enjoying it 😍

Michaela - April 8, 2021, 3:49 p.m.

Very delicious!
I'm a little bit confused.
The amount for two servings is the same, like on your old website? In the Video also it is not the same... 🤔 But delicious as all what you create🤰

PUL Team - April 9, 2021, 12:46 a.m.

Hey Michaela! The recipe yields 2-3 servings of golden milk depending on how big the mugs used are. We opted to stick with servings based on our mugs! We're glad you enjoyed the recipe and do let us know if there's anything else we can help address 😃

Samantha - March 29, 2021, 9:33 p.m.

This recipe is delicious. My one year old loves to enjoy it with me in her sippy cup. I love to have it instead of a cup of coffee in the afternoons or as a comfy drink to have before bedtime.

PUL Team - April 2, 2021, 11:50 p.m.

Aww thank you for taking the time to leave a review, Samantha! Sending lots of love to you and your little one 🥰

Brandy - March 29, 2021, 10:13 a.m.

Love it. So tasty and comforting for the colder days.

PUL Team - April 2, 2021, 11:28 p.m.

So glad you enjoyed it, Brandy!

lpb - March 24, 2021, 7:57 p.m.

Mmm, how many times have I made this... too many! So warm, cozy, delicious. I forego the maple, but that's personal preference.

PUL Team - April 2, 2021, 4:30 a.m.

Oh that's so lovely to hear! Thanks for sharing :)
