Frequently Asked Questions

What is nutritional yeast?

Nutritional yeast is an inactive form of yeast that's rich in B-vitamins and adds a cheesy creaminess to recipes. It comes in both powder and flake forms, but the weight of nutritional flakes is lighter compared to powder. If you use nutritional yeast powder as a substitute, consider starting with less and adding more to taste.

Can I freeze vegan parmesan?

You can freeze it in an air-tight container for up to 3 months.

What can I use vegan parmesan in?

Vegan parm can be added to just about any recipe or dish! We love sprinkling it over casseroles, pasta dishes, pizzas, salads, and roasted veggies.

Can I make vegan parmesan cheese without cashews?

We haven't tried making this vegan parm without cashews, so we can't say for sure how it’ll turn out. Two nut- and dairy-free alternatives you could experiment with include sunflower seeds or hemp seeds though. If you decide to try a cashew-free version, we'd love to hear how it goes in the comments!

Made it once a couple of months ago, have been restocking the parm jar in my fridge every week since! I grew up in the area where they produce the original Parmigiano Reggiano in Italy so was properly obsessed as a kid - and this definitely scratches that itch!! 😍🥰 Bomb as always 🔥👏🏼
