I love this cake. It’s quick and easy. I also made it with some healthier substitutions with whole grain flour and fruits instead of jelly. Worked quite well. But I agree with the other reviewer, the banana bread mug cake was my favorite so far.

Rajoshi - March 21, 2024, 2:13 a.m.

Would it be ok to omit baking powder? I’m not picky on texture as long as it tastes more or less the same :)

PUL Team - March 23, 2024, 6:06 p.m.

Hi Rajoshi, you can omit the baking powder if you don't mind a denser texture. The mug cake may not rise as much, but it should still taste delicious with the same flavours. Enjoy 🤗

Rajoshi - March 25, 2024, 9:13 p.m.

I went ahead and tried it without the baking powder and it was great! I did the same with banana bread in a mug as well with excellent results. Thank you!

Aura - Feb. 2, 2024, 6:52 p.m.

is any of the mug receipes posible to maje in the owen? Thank u PUL team!!

Aura - Feb. 2, 2024, 6:53 p.m.

PUL Team - Feb. 2, 2024, 8:37 p.m.

Hey Aura, you bet! You can bake it in the oven at around 350°F (180°C) for 15-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean. Just be sure to use an oven-safe baking dish. We hope you enjoy the cake if you're able to give it a try 🤗

Nicole Mostofa - Jan. 21, 2024, 2:52 p.m.

It was good but I like the banana mug cake more. This was stickier due to the PB and slightly drier. So it stuck to the gums and roof of the mouth more. Maybe some people like that. 🙂

Megan Cooper - Dec. 14, 2023, 10:17 p.m.

This is my favorite! So quick and perfect for my sweet tooth.

Donna - Dec. 9, 2023, 8:09 a.m.

Love this recipe! Have made it twice already. I’ve tried other peanut butter mug treats but they all ended up a bit dry and hard to get through. Some jam (I used strawberry) balances it out perfectly. I have a sweet tooth and I think this will become a go-to.

PUL Team - Dec. 10, 2023, 1:04 a.m.

Thrilled to hear you love the recipe, Donna, it means so much! Enjoy your delicious mug treats 🤩

Rose - Dec. 4, 2023, 1:41 a.m.

Hit the spot! I was afraid of too much peanut butter so I only did a tablespoon. Would make this again.

PUL Team - Dec. 4, 2023, 4:48 a.m.

Thanks, Rose, we're glad the mug cake was enjoyed! Happy baking 🤗

Sofia - Aug. 7, 2023, 11:26 p.m.

Quick and delicious! 😋

Erin - July 27, 2023, 4:39 a.m.

This is a tasty little treat with a great PB flavor. I swapped the AP flour with GF AP flour (I can’t eat gluten) and it turned out great. I would love a tip to boost the protein a smidge.

Also, this app is wonderful!

PUL Team - July 28, 2023, 2:08 a.m.

Hey Erin, yay so happy to hear! You could sprinkle in some nuts or seeds, or add peanut butter as a topping. We've also heard positive reviews with adding protein powder 🙂

CG - Oct. 21, 2023, 4:11 p.m.

How might I incorporate protein powder into the recipe ?

PUL Team - Oct. 22, 2023, 12:42 a.m.

We haven't tested it out ourselves, but perhaps you could add a spoon with the other dry ingredients. If the batter seems too dry you can add a touch more milk 🙂 let us know if you test it out, CG!

Alicja - July 11, 2023, 11:33 a.m.

This is THE BEST mug cake I’ve tried. It’s just perfect. Thank you PUL!

cha - July 6, 2023, 10:38 p.m.

Love this quick recipe!

PJ - April 12, 2023, 2:35 p.m.

This PB&J mug cake is a dream! I love the texture especially bc nothing burned on the bottom of the mug.
However, I added some protein powder to balance it a bit more.

PUL Team - April 13, 2023, 12:23 a.m.

Thank you for sharing your experience with the recipe, PJ 🙂

Ashley - Feb. 24, 2023, 3:57 a.m.

This PB&J mug was so comforting! I'm not usually a peanut butter lover, but I wanted something warm, soft, and sweet. This was perfect! I added some frozen blackberries to go with the jam and definitely recommend :)

PUL Team - Feb. 25, 2023, 7:46 a.m.

Mmm blackberries sound lovely! Thank you, Ashley 🙂

Ca - Jan. 4, 2023, 4:05 p.m.

Made all of the PUL mug cakes various times- they are UNFAILABLE*!
Even replacing the wheat flour for rice or corn flour or mixing up the taste-giving-ingredient (chocolate, berries, banana) for whatever else is at hand - it still works perfectly and tastes glorious.

Shirin 🌻 - Dec. 6, 2022, 8:48 a.m.

This recipe is a hug in a mug 😋🥹
PB lovers should absolutely try this and I am sure you will make it again and again 😃♥️

PUL Team - Dec. 6, 2022, 6:18 p.m.

Aw so happy to hear, Shirin, thank you 🤗

Orlanne - Aug. 9, 2022, 10:12 p.m.

At first, I was truly sceptic with the texture, the dough didn't seem promising but I was so wrong. It tasted so nice and I highly appreciate there is no added sugar. Also since it was the bottom of my peanut butter jar, I added a bit more milk because it had a thicker consistency but it tasted great in itself 😁

PUL Team - Aug. 10, 2022, 1:57 p.m.

So glad the mug cake was enjoyed, Orlanne! A touch of extra milk sounds like a great idea 😊

Emanuela Consuelo - Aug. 7, 2022, 8:30 a.m.

Hi,
I love your recipes!!
Can i use normal oven to make this dessert?
Emanuela

PUL Team - Aug. 7, 2022, 5:17 p.m.

Hello Emanuela! Yes, you can bake it in the oven at around 350°F (180°C) for 15-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean. Just be sure to use an oven-safe baking dish. We hope you enjoy the cake if you're able to give it a try 🙂

Kate - Feb. 2, 2022, 1:58 p.m.

Thisis now my favourite dessert ever and withthe home made chia jam its way healthier then a lot of puddings, but will all the satisfaction!

PUL Team - Feb. 3, 2022, 4:58 a.m.

So happy to hear! Thank you, Kate 😊

Sofi - Jan. 25, 2022, 9:39 p.m.

Thank you so much for this recipe and the dynamic list of ingredients! I really enjoyed preparing this mini cake. The webpage looks amazing and is very useful at the time of actually cooking. Keep up growing and improving :)

PUL Team - Jan. 27, 2022, 2:50 a.m.

Oh, Sofi, it means so much more than we can express! Thank you for the kind words and support ❣️

Brux - Dec. 10, 2021, 4:53 p.m.

Delicious! Had to sub the all purpose flour for cassava flour for migraine reasons, and just added a little more milk and about a tbsp of cotton flower oil to get the cake batter texture, but the end result was amazing.

PUL Team - Dec. 11, 2021, 10:19 p.m.

Thanks for sharing the modifications, Brux, we're so glad the recipe was enjoyed!

Jackie - Sept. 26, 2021, 8:33 p.m.

I would love to try the recipe but not sure what would be considered as a large mug here. Can you give me some reference?

PUL Team - Sept. 27, 2021, 4:31 a.m.

Hi Jackie! Apologies for any confusion. Our mugs hold 240 mL (8 oz) in total, but a larger-sized mug will work too 🙂 We hope you enjoy the recipe if you give it a try!

marjolein - Sept. 26, 2021, 12:35 p.m.

I would love to make these great mug cakes but I don't have a microwave.
Is it possible with a normal oven ?
thanks from Italy

PUL Team - Sept. 26, 2021, 6:34 p.m.

Hello, Marjolein! Thanks for the question. Yes, you can bake it in the oven at around 350°F (180°C) for 15-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean. Just be sure to use an oven-safe baking dish☺️

Brandy - Sept. 17, 2021, 5:55 p.m.

Great recipe! I added fresh berries and banana after I microwaved it. I can't wait to try the other mug cakes.
Thank you!

PUL Team - Sept. 18, 2021, 3:49 a.m.

Mmm sounds so tasty, Brandy. We hope you enjoy the other mug cakes too if you give them a try😃

lucy - July 11, 2021, 5:32 p.m.

omg this!!! so delicious and fluffy 🤍

Lisa - July 9, 2021, 6:57 p.m.

I love this recipe so much. I keep making it over and over again.❤️❤️ Ιt also helped me with forgoing store-bought sweets when I have late night sugar cravings. Ι personally always add a teaspoon of cocoa powder which makes it even more decadent.😋 Thanks for the great recipe and lots of love to the PUL team.💕

PUL Team - July 15, 2021, 2:44 a.m.

Such a wonderful idea to add cocoa powder! Sending lots of love back to you, Lisa ♥️

Olena Lemeshko - June 3, 2021, 7:03 p.m.

Thank you for the great site and love for plants too! The only thing is I never use microwave because it's not good for you. How could this be adapted for a normal oven?
Thanks from Canada!
Elena

PUL Team - June 5, 2021, 8:19 p.m.

Lovely question, Olena! You can bake the cake in the oven at 350°F (180°C) for 15 - 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean. Just be sure to use an oven-safe baking dish 🤗

amy - May 15, 2021, 2:47 p.m.

PUL Team - May 16, 2021, 12:05 a.m.

Hi Amy, thank you for the feedback! It's definitely helpful for us to work towards improving. In the meantime, opting not to print the photo (unchecking the "print image" box) and making the font smaller should help! Feel free to email us at [email protected] if you'd like any further support 🙂

Andreza - April 25, 2021, 11:36 a.m.

Delicious mug cake recipe. Approved by me and my husband!

PUL Team - April 26, 2021, 6:21 a.m.

One of the best approvals! Thank you, Andreza😊

Maraia - April 25, 2021, 10:39 a.m.

I was so excited to try this recipe, but my cake exploded over the top of the mug 20 or 30 seconds into the cooking time. Do you have any idea what I might have done wrong? I don't know if it had to do with my mug size (I used a dish that was wider but shallower) or with my microwave, but I checked that it was at 900 watts.
Even though it made a mess, the cake itself still tasted delicious! Thanks for sharing this recipe. :)

PUL Team - April 26, 2021, 6:20 a.m.

Oh no! We're sorry to hear this, Maraia. It sounds like the dish may have been overfilled. Using a less shallow microwaveable safe dish and cooking it at a lower watt should help. We're glad it tasted delicious regardless, do let us know if this helps :D

Lorena G. - April 24, 2021, 2:49 a.m.

Delicious! My son and I loved it. Thanks !

Łucja - April 20, 2021, 2:52 p.m.

It was yummy, although a bit too peanut-butter-y for me. I'd add a bit less of it or replace it with something else or even don't add it at all but I don't know if it would work.

PUL Team - April 22, 2021, 2:33 a.m.

Hey Łucja! Thanks for sharing. You can totally add less peanut butter, switch to another nut or seed butter, or perhaps leave it out. We haven't tested it without peanut butter, but I imagine it will be blander 🙂
