  1. In a large microwave-safe mug, mix the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Add the plant milk, oil, and vanilla extract. Mix until just combined. Be careful not to over-mix.
  3. Using your fingers, press half of the chocolate into the middle of the cake batter in your mug. This is so you have some melted chocolate in the centre of your cake (yum!). Add the other half of the chocolate to the top of the batter.
  4. Microwave on high (800 - 900 W) for 2 minutes. The cake is ready when a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean. The cooking time may vary depending on your microwave and settings. If the cake isn't cooked through yet, simply place it back in the microwave at intervals of 15 seconds until done.
  5. Let the mug cake cool slightly, add your desired toppings, and enjoy!

  • The mug might be quite hot when it comes out of the microwave. Take care when removing it from the microwave.
  • If preferred, bake it in the oven at 350°F (180°C) for 15 - 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean. Just be sure to use an oven-safe baking dish.

  • Best if enjoyed immediately.
  • Transfer to an airtight container and store in the fridge for up to 1 day.

This is such a neat idea. The double chocolate cake turned out really good. As someone who loves to bake a layered cake, I enjoyed making this with my kiddo! So good. Thank you for sharing.

PUL Team - Oct. 16, 2021, 4:17 a.m.

We appreciate this so much, Aman! Hugs to you and your kiddo 🤗

Annie - Oct. 15, 2021, 5:26 a.m.

Yummy!! This was a perfect and comforting soft treat after my root canal 😊 We used spelt flour and it turned out very yummy. The mug cake was pretty big though! Next time make sure you have someone to share with 👯‍♀️

PUL Team - Oct. 15, 2021, 5:55 a.m.

So happy to hear, Annie, and wishing you a speedy recovery!

Teja - Oct. 14, 2021, 12:38 a.m.

This was the first mug cake I've ever made and it was perfect. I used Oat Milk. I actually didn't have cocoa powder, but I've had a huge tub of Starbucks hot cocoa mix, that is likely 1/2 cocoa and 1/2 sugar. So I followed the recipe and subbed the 2tbsp cocoa + 2tbsp sugar for 4tbsp Starbucks hot cocoa mix and it was perfect, the texture was surprisingly good and it came together so fast! I didn't add chocolate squares to make it double chocolate, I was content with just single chocolate I suppose. Great recipe Sadia!

PUL Team - Oct. 14, 2021, 3:25 a.m.

Mmm lovely idea to adapt the recipe, Teja! We're so happy the mug cake was enjoyed 😃

Deb - Oct. 11, 2021, 8:09 a.m.

I tried the chocolate mug cake with some fresh strawberries tonight. Loved it! Super easy and delicious. Hits the spot! I love that I can just pop it in the microwave. Love your videos too.

PUL Team - Oct. 11, 2021, 11:02 p.m.

Mm strawberries sound lovely, Deb, so happy the mug cake is being enjoyed ✨

Sonal - Oct. 6, 2021, 7:48 p.m.

Which gluten free flower would you suggest as a substitute to all purpose?

PUL Team - Oct. 7, 2021, 8:51 p.m.

Hey there, Sonal! We haven't tested it out, but we've heard positive reviews with almond flour, oat flour, rice flour, and pre-mixed gluten-free flours such as Bob's Red Mills. Do let us know how it goes if you experiment with it ✨

Mankind Fe - Sept. 29, 2021, 9:48 p.m.

Oh just lovely! I just watched your YouTube video of 5 different mug cake recipes! Went with chocolate! Watched until the end of the video where you shared your website and how you can "cross" each direction off the list! Knew I would like that! So I clicked on the link! Had some SPECIAL dark cocao powder in the cabinet! Followed the directions and now I'm enjoying this warm chocolate cake in a mug! Thanks for sharing!

PUL Team - Oct. 1, 2021, 6:36 p.m.

Aw, this is so lovely to hear, Mankind, thank you! It means so much that the mug cake and new website functionalities are being enjoyed 😃

Jea York - Sept. 27, 2021, 5:07 p.m.

Love this recipe perfect for the afternoon sweet fix. I am gluten free| dairy free| Processed sugar free so I made a few adjustments +Used Bob’s Redmill 1-1 GF replacement flour same measurements + cacao + 3 TBSP Maple syrup instead of sugar. It worked great and had the cake texture of a chocolate lava cake. Love these mug cakes way to go making these, also perfect after school snacks for the healthier ones. You guys rock! Keep up the Amazing work.

PUL Team - Sept. 29, 2021, 6:25 p.m.

Thank you for sharing your experience with the mug cake, Jea, we're so happy it was enjoyed 🙂

Farah - Sept. 24, 2021, 10:06 p.m.

Hey Sadia!

This recipe is probably the best recipe for a mug cake I have ever come across. And the fact that it is vegan is amazing. Can you tell me if I can double the recipe and if so what the time would be, still 2 mins?

PUL Team - Sept. 26, 2021, 5:37 p.m.

Hey Farah! Thanks for the question and kind words 😃 You can double the recipe, although the exact cook time may depend on your microwave. We'd suggest microwaving for 2 and a half minutes to start based on other reviewers. If the cake isn't cooked through yet, simply place it back in the microwave at intervals of 15 seconds until done. Alternatively, you could make two cakes in two mugs separately for ~2 minutes each if desired 😊

Sara - Sept. 15, 2021, 6:58 p.m.

So easy and delicious!

Cherryl Katjivena - Sept. 14, 2021, 10:50 p.m.

Absolutely delicious! A winner

Toula - Sept. 9, 2021, 7:24 p.m.

Truly the best mug I have ever made.
Alternatives I used:
-Coconut sugar instead of granulated,
-Almond milk instead of soy,
-Nearly 3 tbsp of oat flour instead of all-purpose and
-2 tbsp of dark chocolate chips.

PUL Team - Sept. 12, 2021, 2:44 a.m.

Hi, Toula! Thanks for sharing your experience with the recipe with us 🙂

Natalie - Sept. 6, 2021, 5:19 a.m.

Delicious! It feels a bit magical that you can get such a nice, fluffy cake with just a couple minutes in the microwave! I threw a few halved cherries into the mix, which was a great addition.

PUL Team - Sept. 6, 2021, 6:13 p.m.

Mmm cherries are a delicious idea! Thank you, Natalie, for the incredible review 😃

Catherine - Sept. 6, 2021, 3:17 a.m.

Such a perfect recipe for a single dessert for a late night sweet tooth. We don’t keep a lot of sweets at the house but this is a perfect single serving to enjoy a sweet treat!

PUL Team - Sept. 6, 2021, 6:04 p.m.

We appreciate the kind words so much, Catherine!

Made this a while ago and loved it! One was enough for 2 of us

10/10 recommend - Aug. 15, 2021, 11:15 p.m.

10/10 totally recommend

This legitimately takes me 5 minutes to prepare! I personally use regular 2% milk because I don’t have vegan dairy but it comes out perfectly all the same :))

you NEED to try this, take it from me ;)

Marta - Aug. 14, 2021, 10:22 p.m.

I've made all the mug cakes from the video and they're all unbelievably delicious. Just WOW. When I first made the chocolate one I felt like eating a regular amazing warm brownie which I've never felt with mug cakes before. Great job, thank you!!! <3

PUL Team - Aug. 15, 2021, 10:38 p.m.

Aww we're so glad you enjoyed all the mug cakes, Marta! Thank YOU 🥰

Hannah - Aug. 7, 2021, 3:10 a.m.

This recipe is super delicious! One thing I like to do is sub out some of the cocoa powder for powdered peanut butter!

PUL Team - Aug. 7, 2021, 3:14 a.m.

Ooo interesting idea, Hannah, thanks for sharing :)

Toula - Sept. 9, 2021, 7:25 p.m.

OOh I will try that next time!

At first I was very skeptical about mug cakes but it turned out amazing! quick and satisfying :)

Kayla - July 27, 2021, 6:46 a.m.

I have never trusted any mug cake recipe before but when I saw PUL had a recipe I thought if I was ever going to try a recipe, it would be Sadia's. I have made so many PUL recipes and not a single one has failed me, so I had to give this recipe a shot. I'm so super happy I did because I have lost count how many times I've made this recipe for me and my family, it is the absolute best thing for a desperate last minute chocolate fix! Thank you so so much!!!

PUL Team - July 28, 2021, 8:03 a.m.

Aww this means so much, Kayla, thank YOU for the glowing review and support! We're so grateful to have you here 💚

Microwave mug cakes don’t always work with me but this recipe worked every time. It’s my go to for when I’m craving something sweet or chocolatey and it tastes so good for the little effort you put in!

PUL Team - July 25, 2021, 7:50 p.m.

We're so thrilled you enjoyed this one, Nina, thank you for sharing 😊

nymui - July 23, 2021, 5:07 p.m.

Vivian H. - July 23, 2021, 11:16 a.m.

One of the best mug cakes recipes ever. This is my go-to for a quick sweet snack.
Usually I substitute about 6 grams of the flour with vegan hazelnut protein powder and it's amazing.

Terri - July 23, 2021, 11:10 a.m.

This is my go to everytime I want a quick and easy chocolate cake. I use gluten free flower and it works perfectly

Mimmi - July 22, 2021, 9:13 p.m.

Delicious! My favorite chocolate mug cake I've ever tried!

Beth - July 20, 2021, 7:19 p.m.

Such a delicious mug cake! I’ve made it multiple times and once with gluten free flour I needed to use up and it worked really well with that too :)

PUL Team - July 21, 2021, 3:23 a.m.

Thanks for sharing this with us, Beth, it's so appreciated! 🙂

Nidhi - July 15, 2021, 5:53 p.m.

Just tried this - LOVED it! This is the first mug cake recipe that's really worked for me - will forever be indebted for that!

Karina - July 15, 2021, 5 p.m.

I've already made this double chocolate mug cake so many times. Just a quick desert or when you want some cake, but you're the only one eating. I've previously made microwave mug cakes with egg, and they weren't nice, but couldn't find an eggless recipe I trusted. But the you cane along and there was so much deliciousness.
Because the mug cake ist heavy on the dark side, I enjoy it with an scoop of vanilla ice cream. Thank you so much for sharing

PUL Team - July 18, 2021, 1:58 a.m.

We're so grateful for the glowing review, Karina, it means so much! We're so thrilled you're enjoying the mug cake 🤩

Stephanie - July 14, 2021, 9:27 a.m.

I've tried the double choc and the blueberry mug cakes and they were both quick and simple to prepare and yummy to eat. When you want something sweet but not necessarily a whole cake hanging around to tempt you afterwards, these are just perfect. I will be making them again.

PUL Team - July 18, 2021, 12:24 a.m.

We're so glad you're enjoy the mug cakes, Stephanie, thank you for the lovely review! ✨

This is so gooood !

Lorraine - July 10, 2021, 1:08 p.m.

Recette simple, rapide et délicieuse !
Un petit plaisir du soir bien apprécié ^^

Maddi - July 9, 2021, 8:13 p.m.

This is the BEST mug cake and is so quick to make!

Erin - July 9, 2021, 7:58 p.m.

Oh my goodness the number of times I have reached for this recipe to satisfy my late night sweet tooth. So easy and yummy!

Maddy - July 9, 2021, 2:27 p.m.

The BEST mug cake I have ever made. So chocolates and decadent. Thank you for this gift!!

Lisa - July 9, 2021, 3:20 a.m.

Most of the mug cakes I've tried previously have been gooey so I was just convinced microwaves can't make a good mug cake! But I tried this one last night when I was still peckish after dinner and it was INCREDIBLE - the texture is exactly like an oven-baked cake. It cooked perfectly even in my terrible microwave :) 2 tablespoons of sugar sounds like a lot but the resulting cake wasn't sweet at all, it resembled dark chocolate. Sadia's mug cakes are my go-to babysitting activity when it's night time and they want a snack before bed!

PUL Team - July 12, 2021, 5:30 a.m.

We're so appreciative of the incredible review, Lisa! So glad the mug cake has been enjoyed ✨

Rosmari - July 9, 2021, 1:58 a.m.

Esto se ha convertido en una adicción 🤤🤤

Cari - Aug. 26, 2021, 6:19 p.m.

Para nosotros también, queda delicioso!!

Victoria - July 8, 2021, 7:28 p.m.

This was amazing! Very light yet chocolatey enough. I did chocolate chips instead of the nugget in the middle like you did. I've made a few mug cakes before and they've always been a bit gummy, perhaps from the egg. Even my fiance was impressed!

PUL Team - July 10, 2021, 6:53 p.m.

Love using chocolate chips! so glad you and your fiance enjoyed this one, Lana 🤗

Sarah - July 8, 2021, 6:43 p.m.

Soooo good & so easy! I add a few pieces of chopped crystallised ginger to make it super grown-up. Still can’t decide between this or the PB & J as my favourite - both are winners!

PUL Team - July 10, 2021, 3:29 p.m.

We're so happy to hear you've been enjoying the mug cake recipes, Sarah! 🥰

Morgane - July 8, 2021, 6:18 p.m.

Life saving when a chocolate craving hits, and the first mugcake recipe I've tried that actually worked!

PUL Team - July 10, 2021, 3:14 p.m.

So glad the recipe has been enjoyed, Morgane!

Mayura - June 30, 2021, 12:05 a.m.

Sadia, we loved the chocolate mug cake!! Baked it with my 3yr old and he was jumping more than me once the cake baked. I didn't have flour at home so substituted with almond flour and it was delicious. Thank you so much for sharing the wonderful recipe. Will try the other mug cakes.

PUL Team - June 30, 2021, 3:44 a.m.

Aww that sounds so adorable, Mayura, thank you for sharing! So glad the mug cake was enjoyed 🤗

Ayesha S - June 27, 2021, 12:45 a.m.

Made the chocolate mug cake for the family and OMG - better than any posh vegan desserts everrrrr. You are amazing, thank you for this!

Lynn - June 24, 2021, 3:36 a.m.

Love this recipe! I have been trying mug cakes recipes for a few weeks now and this one is hands down my favorite. I used gluten-free powder, cacao powder, hemp milk, and used half raw cane sugar and half swerve sweetener. I also added walnuts and the mug cake was DELICIOUS. Warm, chocolatey, a little gooey and a slight crunch with the walnuts. Topped it off with some soy vanilla ice cream and *chef's kiss* perfect. lol

PUL Team - June 24, 2021, 6:27 a.m.

Mmm soy ice cream is a lovely topping! Thank you for the incredible review and for sharing your experience, Lynn 🥳

Victoria Toms - June 23, 2021, 8:34 p.m.

I would love to make these recipes they look delicious I don't have a microwave. we believes that they're unhealthy for you. Can I use an oven in a different pan with the same directions or similar I'm not that good of a baker. so following your recipes have been awesome to me because they're so easy to follow and do myself!

PUL Team - June 24, 2021, 6:18 a.m.

Hello, Victoria! You can bake it in the oven at 350°F (180°C) for ~15 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean. Just be sure to use an oven-safe baking dish 😊 Happy baking!

Victoria - June 24, 2021, 7:08 p.m.

I'm excited to try them ! Thank you so much for your time ❤️ love your cooking

Erin - June 20, 2021, 10:20 p.m.

I've made mug cakes before but they NEVER tasted like this! I can't believe how delicious this was. I had the Vegan Protein Lettuce Wraps for dinner and needed something chocolate after and HELLO! This was so simple and delicious, I can't wait to try the other mug cake recipes!

PUL Team - June 21, 2021, 6:50 a.m.

Thank YOU for the incredible review, Erin, it means so much! We hope you love the other mug cakes just as much 😃

Bipasha - June 14, 2021, 12:12 p.m.

Hi!! Loved seeing these mug cakes being made by you! They looked so easy that thought of trying a couple of them....& they came out WONDERFUL. Simply loved the chocolate & the peanut butter- blueberry mug cakes. Thanks for these lovely easy & yummy recipes.

PUL Team - June 14, 2021, 3:21 p.m.

Woohoo! We're so glad you enjoyed the mug cakes, Bipasha 🤗

Gabi - June 14, 2021, 12:45 a.m.

What an incredible recipe. I've made it a few times now since you've posted it, five or so, and made it for my partner as well and we both love it. We keep buying vanilla soy milk, so that's what we used. It's sooo gooood!

PUL Team - June 14, 2021, 6:24 a.m.

Mmm sounds so delicious, Gabi, thank you for sharing! So kind of you to make it for your partner too 😃

Esha - June 12, 2021, 7:17 p.m.

Made this amazing cake! Love the feature of changing the serving size ❤️ Though the mug cake tasted really nice and chocolate-y, mine turned out to be a little dry and crusty....any reason why that happened?

PUL Team - June 13, 2021, 12:59 a.m.

We're so glad you're enjoying the new site features, Esha! The dryness may have been from the cake being in the microwave for a tad bit too long. Microwaves are tricky since they're all so different, but reducing the cooking time by 30 seconds may be a good place to start. Do let us know if this helps!

Jain - June 11, 2021, 6:40 p.m.

What a great recipe! 5 minutes total, no dishes, delicious. I don't have much of a sweet tooth and haven't had cake in 10 years or more. I've made this 10 times since you posted it.

It's *perfect* as written. But I couldn't help but play with it. 90 seconds was ideal in my microwave (unsure of the wattage). Gluten-free flour worked great for my gluten-free sister. I tried swapping apple sauce for the oil and it kind of worked. I've added cherries (dried and fresh), espresso powder, black and English walnuts, and vegan marshmallows (oops, they exploded). I'll try crushed candy canes when they're in season.

Thank you, thank you!

PUL Team - June 12, 2021, 11:53 p.m.

Thank YOU, Jain, this is so incredible to hear! What great ideas to experiment with too 😍 We love the crushed candy cane idea 🤤

Poorvi Angel - June 9, 2021, 12:28 p.m.

Incredible,Sadia,I tried it yesterday. It's amazing. Just that I am not vegan. So I made it non-vegan.
By replacing the plant-based milk with regular milk. It still tasted yummy!
This for the amazing recipe!!!

Un Yh - May 31, 2021, 2:01 a.m.

This was a wonderful dessert. I topped it with frozen berries and they made it so much more delicious.

Charlotte Steele - May 30, 2021, 12:12 a.m.

Can’t wait to try this but I was wondering what kind of sugar you use, it looks light brown. Is it brown sugar? When I see a recipe for granulated sugar I think of regular white sugar? By the way love your recipes, you are very talented!

PUL Team - May 30, 2021, 8:42 a.m.

Hi Charlotte, that's a wonderful question! We used raw sugar in the video. White granulated sugar in the Netherlands is vegan, but some white granulated sugar in North America is not, so to avoid confusion we use raw sugar for our recipes generally 🤗

Vivien - May 29, 2021, 7:30 a.m.

Just made the chocolate mug cake, and oh it’s so easy and sooo good! I only had brown sugar and it turned out well. The Amazon links are also super helpful. I get an idea of the brands you use and I can get them from the supermarket. Thank you!

Jane - May 27, 2021, 1:06 p.m.

This looks good but I would love to see salt oil & sugar free recipes. Thank you

Love it! Soft, chocolatey with that extra melted chocolate ! Best easy mug cake

Maeko - May 20, 2021, 4:22 a.m.

This is so yummy! We are gluten free in our household so I used Bobs Redmill One to One GF flour. Worked perfectly! Love it!

PUL Team - May 22, 2021, 8:55 p.m.

Thank you for sharing this, Maeko! 😃

Mila - May 14, 2021, 3:49 p.m.

Ads are really annoying. Shame you have them, I loved pick up limes for not doing that...

PUL Team - May 15, 2021, 10:21 p.m.

Hey there, Mila! Thank you for your honest feedback, it's super helpful for us to learn and improve. For the time being, ads are helping support our costs to run the website so that we can continue to share recipes for free, although we totally recognize they can be annoying and we are trying to minimize the impact on the overall experience. Perhaps using an ad blocker may help minimize them on your end in the meantime ✨🤗

Bronwyn - May 31, 2021, 7:24 a.m.

I totally get that ads are annoying but it’s such a great simple way for awesome small businesses to stay afloat to continue producing amazing original content :) Always important to consider other perspectives...having PUL stay not bankrupt > not having a couple ads. :)

Sarika Bansal - May 13, 2021, 9:30 a.m.

Wow this was so easy and delicious!! I used coconut milk, which gave it a super strong coconut flavor - would probably try oat milk or something else next time. This is so perfect for when you have a random dessert craving but don't have anything at home to satisfy it :)

Zini - May 12, 2021, 10:08 p.m.

I want to try making this with my kids. Any suggestion on healthier alternate flour options? Could these be made with oat flour and still turn out yum?

PUL Team - May 13, 2021, 7:05 a.m.

Hey there Zini, we haven't personally tested this one out with oat flour so we can't say for certain. We'd recommend trying half oat and half all-purpose flour to start, and see if you like the flavour and texture 😊 Since oat flour is usually gluten-free, the cake may be a tad more crumbly 🍰

Some members of our PUL family have had some luck with oat flour in our banana bread mug cake recipe if you're looking for another option too!…

Amelie - May 12, 2021, 4:51 p.m.

Tried the chocolate one as well as the blueberry one with a glutenfree flour mixture and they both turned out delicious!!! Thanks for the quick easy and delicious recipes.

PUL Team - May 13, 2021, 5:11 a.m.

Ooo so glad the gluten-free flour mixture worked! Thanks so much for sharing this, Amelie☺️

My 7 year old made this and it was super easy. We found that the cocoa was too over powering. Maybe the taste is suitable for adults. Will reduce cocoa next time. Thanks for sharing.

PUL Team - May 13, 2021, 4:55 a.m.

Aww so lovely that your little one is getting involved in the kitchen, DA! Totally fair that the cocoa may be a bit too strong for more sensitive taste buds. Adding a bit of salt can also help make the cocoa less sharp 🙂

I love your channels an recipes and especially the relationship to food you help other people to build!

Still I have to say I'm disappointed that you're supporting amazon, I have the feeling it doesn't really fit with everything else the channel stands for

PUL Team - May 11, 2021, 5:04 a.m.

Hey there, Julia, thank you so much for the review and honest feedback! It's so appreciated as it helps us grow. We always have to travel quite far to get some chocolate muffins. I had never thought I could make one on my own. My boyfriend and I just made one this morning following your recipe and we couldn't believe how quick, easy, and tasty it is! You guys are truly amazing. Thank you so much PUL!! <3

The best quick desert recipe ever! Super delicious. I used coconut milk and rice flour and came out incredible. Will do it again for sure, thank you so much.

Zini - May 12, 2021, 10:09 p.m.

Karolina, did you keep the proportion the same with rice flour?

Aoife Ryan - April 23, 2021, 9:47 p.m.

Katherine Ruckle - April 23, 2021, 4:16 p.m.

Mug cakes have only ever brought me heartbreak and disappointment. However, yesterday when my partner was craving cake but we were both feeling too lazy and comfy to go to the store, I remebered this video. THEY WERE SO GOOD!!! He tried the banana, replacing the flaxseed with almond butter and it was so moist and yummy. I tried the chocolate one and loved that I got to customize it for my medical needs by taking out salt and reducing sugar. I topped it with fresh berries and a drizzle of almond butter and our night got 1000% cozier! Thank you so much!

PUL Team - April 24, 2021, 3:32 a.m.

We're so happy that you enjoyed the mug cake, Katherine! Thank you for sharing your substitutes and the awesome review :D

Roxy - April 21, 2021, 1:20 p.m.

I tried many pick-up limes recipes and enjoyed them all, but sadly didn't have luck with this one! Tried to bake it twice, using different mugs and decreasing temperature from 800w to 650w, but each time a piece of chocolate placed inside turned into a piece of charcoal, while the texture of the rest was perfectly fluffy... Any suggestions how to avoid it?

PUL Team - April 22, 2021, 3:35 a.m.

Hi Roxy, that's unfortunate to hear! It may be that your microwave is quite powerful or disperses air differently throughout. Microwaving for shorter increments of time at the lower temperature should help prevent the chocolate bits from burning! This way you can check in on it more often before it gets to the point of burning. You could also try stirring the mixture to help disperse the chocolate bits before they burn. Microwaves are a bit tricky since each one is different but do let us know if that helps! 😃

Yi - April 20, 2021, 10:45 p.m.

OMG it actually works! Took me three minutes in total and it tastes so so good. Thank you so much!

PUL Team - April 22, 2021, 2:54 a.m.

Success!! So happy to hear, Yi 😍

Jeffrey - April 20, 2021, 4:51 p.m.

I watched the video and knew I had to try this recipe ASAP. I didn't have any bar chocolate, so I just left it out. I accidentally added a 1/2 tsp of vanilla, but it's fine because I love vanilla. I used almond milk because it's what I have. I also want to try subbing some of the milk for brewed coffee, because I hear that is a good flavor combination: coffee and chocolate. And my microwave is 1000 watts, so I only had to microwave it for about 1 minute and 15 seconds. It was SO fluffy and delicious! Probably one of the best mug cake recipes I have ever tried. Thank you so much! I will be trying the Peanut Butter and Jelly Mug Cake later!

PUL Team - April 22, 2021, 2:45 a.m.

Ooo all wonderful additions, Jeffrey! We're so glad you enjoyed it and hope you love the Peanut Butter and Jelly Mug Cake just as much 😃

CMAC - April 18, 2021, 9:14 p.m.

Love it! I used oat milk and it turned out excellent. Actually got nervous it “wasn’t enough “ but ended up very full and left a couple bites in the mug.

My new favorite!

PUL Team - April 19, 2021, 3:24 a.m.

We're so glad the mug cake was a success! Thank you :D

Mitzi - April 18, 2021, 7:53 p.m.

Thanks so much, Mitzi! So happy for the positive feedback 🤗

Joan - April 17, 2021, 10:41 a.m.

This looks so good, as do the other mug receipes! I am really trying to avoid oils. Is there a substitution that could work? Would apple sauce work? Or any suggestion if I'm trying to avoid oils?

Lily - April 18, 2021, 3:03 a.m.

Hi Joan! I just tried it with apple sauce (same amount) and it turned out great (:

theyellowducky - April 17, 2021, 5:31 a.m.

This was so delicious!! The mug cake was easy to make, and it came out perfectly light and fluffy.

PUL Team - April 19, 2021, 2:44 a.m.

We appreciate this so much! So happy you enjoyed the recipe 🙂

Amrita - April 16, 2021, 8:57 p.m.

I actually watched the new video as I was eating lunch (potato and green pea curry via PUL, of course) and decided I could do with something sweet. Didn't have a microwave, didn't have sprinkles, didn't have an oven-safe mug, so I used my oven, threw in some dark chocolate chunks, and used a bowl and it turned out great - just the right quantity and also the right amount of sweet, warm vanilla-ey (?) goodness!

Amrita - April 16, 2021, 8:59 p.m.

Oooh, looks like I posted this on the wrong recipe page. Well I kind of mixed together the vanilla birthday cake and the double chocolate recipe, so I guess it's still ok!

PUL Team - April 19, 2021, 2:15 a.m.

Mm that sounds like a delicious mix, Amrita! Thank you for sharing and we're so glad you enjoyed it 😁

Krista - April 16, 2021, 7:59 p.m.

What do you do if you don't have a microwave? These look so delish! Thank you!

theyellowducky - April 17, 2021, 5:34 a.m.

In the video, she mentioned that you could also bake any of these mug cake recipes in the oven if you didn’t have a microwave. I can’t remember the exact time and temperature mentioned, so check back in the video. I hope it works out!! :)

PUL Team - April 19, 2021, 2:10 a.m.

A wonderful question, Krista! If you don't have a microwave, you can bake it in the oven at 350°F (180°C) for 15 - 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean. Just be sure to use an oven-safe baking dish. We hope you enjoy the recipe!
