Ingredients
-
⅔ cup (147 g)brown sugar
-
¼ cup (60 mL)unsweetened soy milk
-
-
1 tsp (3 g)baking powder
-
¾ tspbaking soda
-
½ tspsalt
-
2 cups (276 g)all-purpose flour
-
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). In a large bowl, cream together the coconut oil* and brown sugar with a fork.
- Then add the milk, maple syrup, vanilla, baking powder, baking soda, and salt and mix until well combined. The mixture might look a bit clumpy, and that's okay.
- Sift the flour into the bowl and stir until partially combined.
- Lastly, fold the chopped chocolate through the dough. Be careful to not over-mix.
- Scoop up 1 Tbsp of the dough at a time, and roll them into balls. Place on a line baking tray about 2 inches (5 cm) apart, as the cookies will spread.
- To decorate, add a few bits of chopped chocolate to the top of each cookie if desired.
- Bake on the centre rack of the oven for 12 - 13 minutes, or until lightly golden. Let them set on the baking tray for a minute before transferring to a cooling rack to cool completely. Enjoy!
Notes
- †Refined coconut oil is coconut oil that doesn't smell or taste like coconuts.
- * The coconut oil needs to be solid for this recipe, and not melted. If the oil is soft, place it in the fridge until hardened.
Storage
- Store in an airtight container on the counter for up to 4 days.

Amazinggggg! I ran out of coconut oil, so I ended up using half coconut oil, half vegan butter and used agave instead of maple syrup. Also made them in the airfryer. My room mates (not vegan) are crazy about them! I made them to eat during the week, but I'm afraid they won't last long... Thank you for sharing your recipes and amazing health advices, your content makes my life easier and more balanced. Keep up the good work!
Lot's of love and appreciation from Vila Real, Portugal!
These are amazing! Mine were actually a little crispy around the edges, which I love! I will definitely be making these again!
These are soooo good! Mine came out not as brown as the ones in your photo and a tad fluffier but I loved it. They tasted like the chewy chips ahoy without the chemical aftertaste. Soooooo good thank you for sharing this recipe! Perfect to enjoy on this snowy day <3
Delicious and super easy cookie recipe!! I used vegetable oil instead of coconut oil and baked these for 15 minutes. They still weren't as browned as the website photos, but were very tasty nonetheless and I can't wait to try more recipes on here!
Oh my goodness I can't even describe how AMAZING these cookies are! Not only are they super easy to make, but they are literally the cookies of my dreams - so soft and chocolatey and they almost melt in your mouth! I swapped the coconut oil for vegan butter and it still works great. Will definitely be making these again :)
Love them, they are so quick and easy to make yet addictive. Though you can easily use half the sugar and it's still very sweet.
Delicious! I didn't have vanilla extract so I added more maplesyrup instead!
The flavour being so strong reminded me of pancakes so I tell my friends they are pancake cookies :p
I also used almondflour instead which make them.. a bit more healthier! haha.
Very easy to make and super delicious
This recipe is my go to recently
My 6 years old nephew loved making these cookies with me, and they turned out delicious!
I liked that they’re soft and easy to make. Definitely new for me to se a dough looking like that (in the step before adding the flour) I definitely thought I had done something wrong. But then I saw the video on YouTube and that reassured me
Amazing cookies!!! I am lactose intolerant and it was so good to enjoy delicious chocolate chip cookies! Can the dough be frozen? And if yes, how long will it keep in the freezer?

My go to cookie recipe! The best I've ever found, thank you!!!
I overestimated the power of these cookies.. and I ended up with having a couple of huge ones instead of around 20 small ones! :) The taste is however super nice, so next time I will just make sure to give those guys some more room to grow.
Thank you for the recipe!
Every time i make these cookies my family goes crazy, they're so delicious, tasty and healthy! Thank you so so much for this recipe x
Thank you so much, Sadia & Team!! I have been a Pickuplimes for years and love soooo many of your recipes. Been vegan for a few years, and your recipes have enriched my food life so much!
Much love going out to you from Cologne, Germany,
Lilly
I make those for my coworkers anytime they accept to switch shifts with me !
I followed instructions, only thing i used different was chocolate chips instead of broken up chocolate. and almond milk. They were dry and didnt taste very good. Dont know if I messed up but i did follow the recipe. They didnt spread out at all. And did not look like the picture. OH well
The most delicious chocolate chip cookies ever. My 5 years old loves them.
Thank you so much for all the recepies. I have been vegan for only 2 months and you are making my life easier.
Hi!! These are the most delicious chocolate Chip Cookie recipe I've ever had! So soft! Just a question. Are these cookies healthy??
This recipe is probably the most delicious choc chip cookies I've ever tasted!!!
I have pretty much been making them every day for my family of 9!!!
I think this recipe will never go out of my cookie rotation!
This was a delicious recipe! It's now my go to recipe for birthday gifts :)
My not vegan boyfriend told me that this is the best cookie he ever ate and want me to make it often 🥰
amazing ! can we use wheat flour instead or mix 1/2 and 1/2?
Sehr, sehr lecker und so einfach zu machen 😋🍪👍🏻
Love this recipe, my non-vegan boyfriend loved it as much as I did! Also you only need cupboard staples so you can make them anytime, which is perfect!!
I just made these. I made huge cookies and they stayed fluffy! I have never been able to get fluffy big cookies. I'm so excited to bring these out for every one tomorrow for Xmas. Thank you so much.
Every recipe of yours I have tried so far is easy and incredible tasty. I now consider myself a big fan and I will not stop recommending this blog
Thank you!
If I use olive oil or avocado oil, do i still put the dough to chill in the fridge?
This was a delicious recipe! It's now my go to recipe for birthday gifts :)
These are so good! We’re big fans of chocolate chip cookies 🍪 and this recipe has been a big hit.
I was wondering if the dough freezes well?
I made these cookies this week and they are so delicious and easy to make!!
Ever since I first made these cookies they have been one of our favourite cookie recipes. Sometimes good old chocolate chip just hits the spot! I love how light these cookies are with a generous amount of chocolate chunks. We come back to it again and again.
Just made these cookies and there are just delicious. Thank you for all the recipes / videos and content you posted. I am looking forward to the next ones.
Simple ingredients that we already had. My daughter is obsessed with your recipes and so I must always use her name to comment. Very delicious and we had fun making it during lock down.
Incredible! Thanks so much for this recipe. Everyone loved it. I added pecans and they were delicious and so easy to make, thanks!
Loved them! Took 20mins for mine to cook, but they tasted amazing. Super easy and quick recipe.
I have been baking chocolate chip ccookies ever since I can remember. I have tried so many reciepes and I am so happy to have tried this one! This is my now go-to-reciepe. It is easy, delicious and somehow has a very familiar taste to it.
Everybody snatches them right out of the box!
I like playing with the softness by using different types of sugar. Would definitely recommend!
Baked this with my niece today. And it turned out great . The recipe was easy to follow. Especially the customization of quantity. Will definitely be my go to Choco chip recipe in future. Thanks for all that you do Sadia!
These cookies were super delicious but just a tat too sweet for my tastes. Since I used the gramm measurements, I will try using cups next time and see if they still turn out as sweet. Other than that, great recipe!
This is my go-to chocolate chip cookie recipe! I brought a batch to my family Christmas party last year and (without knowing they were vegan and that I had baked them) my cousins were eating them, talking about how delicious they were, and telling everyone else to try one IMMEDIATELY, lol! Once I told my family that the cookies were vegan, they were mind-blown! With this recipe under my belt I think I might have my aunt's "best cookie ever" beat, hehehe...
I made these cookies to bring those to a friend's house. Even the guy who is rather picky when it comes to cookies loved them.
They are easy to make, with ingredients I usually have on hand and they turn out soft and delicious.
My kids and hubby are very picky when it comes to desserts and they LOVED these cookies! They had no idea they’re vegan. This will be our go to chocolate chip cookie recipe from now on.
These were lovely!! I used vegan butter instead of refined coconut oil since its expensive where I like but it came out just great. I love how the recipe is so simple to follow, my non-vegan family didn't even notice.
Hey PUL team! I've made these cookies SO MANY TIMES and every time (even without access to all the measuring tools), they have turned out INCREDIBLE!!! This is my go-to vegan cookie recipe! I normally use coconut sugar instead of brown, and oat milk as opposed to soy. I'm drooling just thinking about them - they are heavenly! If I had to recommend one cookie recipe from the range that PUL offers - I'd say try this one first, you will not be dissapointed!
Fun story: I made a batch of 14 for our family and friends caravan trip around south-east england last summer. Initially, I thought that only the kids would finish them - but as soon as I opened the box, the parents and kids all finished them in 5 MINUTES! haha! They kept asking for more but I had to tell them that I sadly didn't have any more! It was such a hyggelig moment, as the danish would say, all of us gathered enjoying these cookies in a caravan after a lovely day out exploring is something I'll never forget :)
Eternally grateful that I stumbled across your channel whilst scrolling one day on YouTube, Sadia! I always look forward to trying out the new snacks that you create and of course, watching the youtube videos is one of my favourite moments of each week. It would be a dream to meet you one day! Sending love from London, UK! <3
I make them all the time, i like them more flat, so I get the coconut oil a little bit more runny.
A friend of mine tried them once when she visited me, and now whenever I visit her, I have to make a batch as a gift.
This recipe has been my go to during years! They are like cake-cookie, so super soft and comforting, really delicious!
These cookies are mmmmmmmm soo delicious, soft and simply awesome! I made them with classic coconut oil as I really like the chocolate - coconut combo and the result was so much better than I expected.
This recipe became my signature among not even vegan friends. At any gathering they would ask me to make a batch of those. Super delicious! But don't overbake them! 10 min max
I love these cookies. If you follow the recipe solely, I’d rate it an 8/10, but it’s so easy to customise with great results. I’ve used golden syrup instead of maple, and added salted pistachios with the chocolate and it takes it through the roof of brilliance. I don’t even bother eating non vegan cookies at this point, they just don’t live up to these. I took these into school on the last day, and had so many people ask me for the recipe. Thanks Sadia!
Hello! If I wanted to make these gluten free - what flour would you recommend?
Thanks!
I was feeling like baking cookies for a long time (I ended up buying for laziness), but I am so glad I've made these today! Super easy, simple ingredients and delicious, they end any sweet craving 😍
I love Pick Up Limes so much and some of my go-to recipes are from here! Thank you for all the inspiration and for proving us that veganism can be incredibly simple and wholesome - and to not ruin our relationship with food, I feel so glad you don't mind using sugar, while promoting a balanced eating, for example, that's why I kept following you all along 🥰
Absolutely delicious!
These are my ultimate favourite, thank you so much for this recipe ❤️
I tried making this with unrefined coconut oil, but the coconut taste comes out too much. Listen to Sadia and use refined.
Amazing!! 😋
I made these cookies a few times already to enjoy at a rainy day or to bring to friends and family and it's always a success!
When I took the first bite out of these soft angels sent from heaven, my kitchen was lit by sunlight and so were my taste buds. I wanted to cry. Shedding tears for every single chocolate chip in them. And oh they are moist, as if 150 g of tears (homemade) ARE in them (luckily the salt went into the ocean of admiration for this recipe - Thank you! ).
Laura - currently in cookie heaven
PS: I only had coconut sugar on hand, worked heavenly :)
made them finally!! very easy but tasty and worth it!! substituted maple syrup with honey and coconut oil with olive oil and rest were same!! Thank you soo much PUL for your lovely recipes!! much love from India
Hi Sadia and PUL team
I love watching your videos and the effort that goes into the presentation and the information you provide is really commendable.
I am from India and this is going to be my first time to attempt such wonderful recipes. Hence, I would love to get few clarifications.
I would like to know if I can substitute coconut oil with any neutral tasting cooking oil, say groundnut oil. Also, can we substitute maple syrup with honey.
Looking forward to your response and keep up the good work!
I will preach Sadia's recipes until the day I'm gone. I'm fully serious when I say that 90% of my vegan recipes come from her, and it makes me SO excited to eat vegan. I spent the day meal prepping with 4/5 recipes being from Sadia's, each ending with a jaw drop after tasting from my mom. These cookies give the exact comforting warmth you'd expect from a Grandma's kitchen, and as I tasted it, I promised myself that the day I become a Grandma, these will be the legendary cookies I deliver! I could go on and on about Sadia, but if you have any hesitation about veganism, her recipes are the way to go. My dad isn't crazy about veganism in general, but he couldn't even NOTICE a difference in these cookies. LOVE THEM!
