  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). In a large bowl, cream together the coconut oil* and brown sugar with a fork.
  2. Then add the milk, maple syrup, vanilla, baking powder, baking soda, and salt and mix until well combined. The mixture might look a bit clumpy, and that's okay.
  3. Sift the flour into the bowl and stir until partially combined.
  4. Lastly, fold the chopped chocolate through the dough. Be careful to not over-mix.
  5. Scoop up 1 Tbsp of the dough at a time, and roll them into balls. Place on a line baking tray about 2 inches (5 cm) apart, as the cookies will spread.
  6. To decorate, add a few bits of chopped chocolate to the top of each cookie if desired.
  7. Bake on the centre rack of the oven for 12 - 13 minutes, or until lightly golden. Let them set on the baking tray for a minute before transferring to a cooling rack to cool completely. Enjoy!

  • Refined coconut oil is coconut oil that doesn't smell or taste like coconuts.
  • * The coconut oil needs to be solid for this recipe, and not melted. If the oil is soft, place it in the fridge until hardened.

so easy to make and it tastes heavenly!
I’m not vegan but I’ve been trying to implement more plant based recipes in my diet and thought I’d give the dessert recipes a try too! Loved how this one turned out. Quick, easy, and a crowd pleaser. Also saves me money on eggs and butter 😀

Super delicious and easy to make. I didn't expect them to spread quite so much in the oven so will bake in 2 separate trays next time!

I love these cookies 🍪 😍 they give me sooo much joy especially during period days 😅

Jamie Cronin - Jan. 24, 2024, 3:27 p.m.

I’ve made these cookies several times and they are fantastic! I love the subtle flavor the coconut oil imparts. So delicious!

Such a easy go to!

Beri - Jan. 12, 2024, 6:01 p.m.

They were so easy to make and really yummy. They just didn't spread out a lot and were still kind of dome shaped when I took them out of the oven. Still delicious and nice texture.
Could it be because I used the fan setting or normal sugar instead of brown sugar?

PUL Team - Jan. 13, 2024, 7:29 p.m.

Hey Beri, thanks for sharing your experience with the cookies! Using white sugar in place of brown sugar may influence cookies. Other more common reasons cookies may not spread is if the fat source is too cold, the dough is overmixed, or there's too much flour. If you give the cookies another try, it could helps to let the coconut oil soften a touch and be careful to not over-mix. It can be suuuper tempting to keep folding but we only need the mixture just combined!

In case you used cup measurements, it can also help to ensure that the flour isn't too packed in the cup, but rather, gently spooned into the measuring cup and levelled. This will help avoid too much flour being added. Hope this helps for now 🤗

Monika Kiss - Jan. 7, 2024, 6:49 p.m.

Indeed best cookie ever!! I’m so grateful for it! Thank you!! Tomorrow it lands in kids’ lunchbox

Melissa Levell - Jan. 7, 2024, 1:07 a.m.

Best vegan cookie recipe I've done! I've made them gluten free, and it's the second I'm making them in a week.

PUL Team - Jan. 9, 2024, 6:31 a.m.

Such a big compliment, Melissa, thank you! Enjoy the cookies 😊

Susan Campanelli - Jan. 6, 2024, 2:03 a.m.

Super delicious!!! Ate them right off the pan while they were still warm. Had to make a second batch!

Krystle - Dec. 31, 2023, 7:40 p.m.

The comments section on the app is so helpful. I'm coeliac so it was really helpful to see someone had subbed the flour for oats. I put 276g of gluten free oats in my food processor and pulsed a few times to make flour. I otherwise followed the recipe exactly and they came out great. Now to stop myself eating them all!

PUL Team - Jan. 2, 2024, 5:32 p.m.

Yayy we're so happy that the comments section is helpful and that the cookies were enjoyed with gluten-free oats. We hope to continue to build the community aspect of the app too 💛

kse - Dec. 26, 2023, 7:11 p.m.

My mother in law made these for our Christmas breakfast and they were AMAZING!!! Sooooo soft and with just a perfect amount of chocolate 🤤 I ate like 5 of them in one sitting 🤫

KatyeU - Dec. 23, 2023, 8:32 p.m.

Any recommendations for adding protein powder to any of your cookie recipes? If I wanted to put in 2 scoops of protein powder, would I just take out that 2 scoop equivalent of flour? Thanks!

PUL Team - Dec. 25, 2023, 11:39 a.m.

Oooh great question KatyeU, I'm actually not too sure as we've never tried this before. I suspect it's a good idea to swap in a dry ingredient (Protein powder) and swap out an equal amount of a dry ingredient (flour) as you suggested, the flour does contribute to the structure of cookies. So just keep in mind the texture might be a bit more dense/dry. Another thing to keep in mind is that protein powder might absorb more liquid than flour, so you might need to add a little extra liquid to the dough to prevent it from being too dry. The protein powder might also affect the overall taste of the cookies, as well as but you can always try in a smaller amount and increase the next time you make it. It's always fun to experiment with baking!

Natalia Faria - Dec. 23, 2023, 12:38 p.m.

I looovee this recipe for so long! Made for so many especial ocasion! Everybody looves it! there is no mistake with this one!! even when it goes a little wrong! hahaha
Today I will be doing with my nephews for cristhimas! will be lovelyy!

Nicoletta Bascià - Dec. 20, 2023, 5:22 p.m.

I did not have any coconut oil, so I swapped it for the same amount of peanut butter and they turned out so yummy! I never seem to be able to make cookies that thin out in the oven, so I had to squash them a little and they turned out a bit chunckier but so soft and delicious nonetheless!!

PUL Team - Dec. 21, 2023, 6:50 p.m.

Hey Nicoletta, thanks a bunch for taking the time to share your experience with cookies and substitution 😃

Tali - Dec. 17, 2023, 4:54 p.m.

I’ve never successfully made chocolate chip cookies. Now I made two amazing batches in one weekend!

PUL Team - Dec. 18, 2023, 5:24 a.m.

Woohoo! Here's to more delicious cookie adventures, Tali 😃🍪

Japsowin Kaur - Dec. 12, 2023, 1:16 p.m.

I made these for a friend's anniversary and she was delighted and couldn't stop eating them. Easy and reliable recipe ❤️

Coni - Dec. 10, 2023, 11:21 a.m.

So easy to make, and so satisfying to eat! Perfect recipe for a sweet craving on a lazy day.

Coni - Dec. 13, 2023, 1:48 p.m.

A quick question for the team. I made these again (so yummy!) and I considered replacing part of the flour for almond or oat flour to make them a bit more nourishing, but in order to avoid a disaster I thought to ask first. Do you think it would work? And in which proportion?
Thanks so much!!! :)

PUL Team - Dec. 14, 2023, 7:16 a.m.

Hey there, Coni, we've heard positive reviews for both almond flour and oat flour in place of the all-purpose flour. For example, Sydney said they used a 1:1 oat flour to all-purpose flour sub. Happy baking 🤗✨

Amanda - Dec. 8, 2023, 4:42 a.m.

The family loved these! I did add a few more splashes of plant milk.

Elsa - Dec. 7, 2023, 11:06 p.m.

Omg they’re delicious! I could not stop myself from eating the raw cookie dough 😅 however i must have done something wrong as all the cookies melted into one big one (even if I separated them — if anyone has any idea why this could be let me know!) Still delicious!

PUL Team - Dec. 8, 2023, 7:35 a.m.

Hey Elsa, it sounds like the coconut oil within the cookies might have been too soft before going into the oven. This can cause the cookies to spread and 'melt' too much while baking. To prevent this, you can roll the dough into balls and then place on a sheet in the fridge to firm up for 30 - 60 min. Then bake.

With baking, it also helps to weigh the ingredients in grams for more precision - it's more accurate than using cups and tablespoons if you have access to a scale. I hope this helps for now in case you give the cookies another go! Glad the taste was still enjoyed 😊

CT - Dec. 5, 2023, 8:30 p.m.

THE best cookies I have ever had! My 9y-o loved making these 😍

Pri - Dec. 3, 2023, 2:53 a.m.

These are AMAZING! I used gluten-free 1-1 flour and my batter looked a bit too dry, so I doubled the milk content. Even with that the mixture looked too dry but the cookies tuned out fine, held their structure well, and the taste is phenomenal!

PUL Team - Dec. 4, 2023, 12:17 a.m.

Thanks a bunch for sharing the gluten-free modification, Pri! Enjoy the rest of the cookies 🤗

Yvonne Liao - Dec. 2, 2023, 6:45 a.m.

Awesome recipe! Today I change chocolate chips into oatmeal and raisins. Tastes totally delicious! One reminder to all vegans who want to make this cookies- DO NOT OVER MIX YOUR DOUGH. Simply use spoon to gently mix it. The dough may look a few flour remain but it’s totally fine.

PUL Team - Dec. 2, 2023, 8:29 p.m.

Hehe thanks for sharing your experience with the recipe, Yvonne! It's a lovely reminder and it;s super tempting to overmix 😅

Claire - Oct. 26, 2023, 11:09 p.m.

I made them with whole wheat flour and these are the bomb!!

Sharmishtaa Kumar - Oct. 24, 2023, 11:22 a.m.

Super tasty recipe!!😎

charlotte - Oct. 21, 2023, 1:38 a.m.

i adore this app more than i can express

Claire - Oct. 27, 2023, 12:09 p.m.

Me too, I used to struggle so much with cooking and meal planning and this app makes it so easy and fun

PUL Team - Oct. 27, 2023, 6:21 p.m.

Oh, Charlotte and Claire, you're too kind! We're so happy to hear this and we can't wait to continue our culinary journey together👩‍🍳

Jess - Oct. 10, 2023, 4:13 p.m.

I have a question : if the oil isn’t solidified how much do I need?

PUL Team - Oct. 11, 2023, 9:55 p.m.

Hey Jess! It'd be the same amount (so 1/2 cup) but if your coconut oil is liquid or soft, we'd recommend placing it in the fridge until hardened. The coconut oil needs to be solid for these cookies to help with structure :)

Ely - Oct. 2, 2023, 1:55 p.m.

So easy to make and super yumm

Ashley Riley - Sept. 23, 2023, 8:13 a.m.

So delicious! I have tried so many vegan cookie recipes and this one takes the cake.

angelica - Sept. 5, 2023, 6:23 a.m.

Made these tonight and they were sooo good. Classic chocolate chip recipe! Love these!

Bex - Aug. 26, 2023, 9:28 p.m.

These are easy to make, yummy and soft, with just the right amount of sweetness. The dark chocolate perfectly balances out the sugar and maple syrup. Mine didn’t flatten as much as the recipes did, perhaps my flour-coconut oil ratio was slightly off, but they were still delicious and will definitely be made again 😌

Jay Z - Aug. 25, 2023, 6:36 p.m.

Can I replace the oil with applesauce?

PUL Team - Aug. 26, 2023, 5:14 a.m.

Hi Jay, applesauce is often a good substitute for oil in things like cakes and loaves, but we haven't tested it in this specific cookie recipe. The recipe also calls for a significant amount of coconut oil, which not only adds fat but also gives the cookies their crispy texture and rich flavour. I'm concerned that applesauce might make them too moist and alter the texture, so I'm not sure I'd personally recommend it. That said, I'm all for culinary experiments! If you decide to try it out, let us know how it turns out 😊

Lisa - Aug. 22, 2023, 8:33 a.m.

These were SO yummy! I’ve tried so many vegan cookie recipes and this was by far the best. I read the reviews and swapped out coconut oil for butter as I didn’t have coconut oil. The cookies didn’t spread as much because I used chilled butter so in my second batch I pressed it down with my fingers before baking. My weighing scale also ran out of battery as I was halfway through my sugar measurement, so I took it as a happy mistake and probably used ~80g of sugar. They were still sweet enough and didn’t need more sugar. 10/10!

Lisa - Aug. 22, 2023, 8:34 a.m.

I should specify - I used vegan butter 😊

PUL Team - Aug. 24, 2023, 8:05 a.m.

Hi there, Lisa! Thanks a bunch for taking the time to share your experience with the cookies. It means so much 😊

Eliza - Aug. 15, 2023, 1 a.m.

I can't say how many times I have made this recipe, and how many times it's turned out delicious! I make these all the time, and my family LOVES them! It's really important to make sure your coconut oil is at the correct solidity, but otherwise these are the most easy, tasty and healthy chocolate chip cookies I've EVER found!
Thank you Pick Up Limes!

PUL Team - Aug. 15, 2023, 5:43 p.m.

Thank YOU, Eliza ☺️ we're so happy the chocolate chip cookies are being enjoyed!

Abi - July 23, 2023, 1:15 p.m.

This is so easy and quick to make, definitely satisfied my sweet cravings. I find the cookies to be a little too sweet for my taste so I might reduce the sugar next time, but overall amazing recipe

PUL Team - July 25, 2023, 6:33 a.m.

So happy the cookies were enjoyed, Abi, thank you 😊

Ayzah - July 22, 2023, 7:52 p.m.

I made them but the butter melted in the oven :(. I did cut them in shape and they were fine though. Do you think you could give us alternatives for a gluten-free recipe?

PUL Team - July 22, 2023, 11:46 p.m.

Hey Ayzah, I'm not too sure about an alternative without trying it out as gluten-free flours aren't often a one-for-one substitute, but we'll keep trying to make gluten-free cookies. In the meantime, you may enjoy our One-Bowl Blueberry Almond Breakfast Cookies:… or our One-Bowl Nut Butter & Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies:… 😊

Amy - July 15, 2023, 12:22 p.m.

So so easy and sooo good!
I didn’t have any choc chips so added some cocoa powder instead and still turned out great!
Thanks for posting such a great recipe!

PUL Team - July 17, 2023, 7:28 a.m.

A lovely idea, Amy, thank you! So happy the cookies were enjoyed ✨

Fatima - July 14, 2023, 6:20 a.m.

Very easy to make and taste WOWWW

inga - July 10, 2023, 11:26 a.m.

Perfect quick Sunday evening snack 😍
I didn’t have all ingredients at home so replaced coconut oil with sunflower oil and used spelt flour. Cookies turned out great.

PUL Team - July 12, 2023, 10:36 p.m.

Thanks for sharing the modifications, Inga, we're so happy to hear ✨

Alexandra - July 10, 2023, 4:03 a.m.

Used the exact ingredients, measurements and instructions, but the cookies did not spread and what’s more sad did not turn out very well 😔

PUL Team - July 12, 2023, 10:12 p.m.

Hey there, Alexandra, thanks for sharing your experience with the recipe - how disappointing! Cookies that don't spread are often due to too much flour or over-mixed flour. In case you used cup measurements, it can help to ensure that the flour isn't too packed in the cup, but rather, gently spooned into the measuring cup and levelled. This will ensure that not too much flour is added. Gently folding the chopped chocolate through the dough rather than string can also do wonders. We hope this helps for now 🙌

Karizma Bannister - July 5, 2023, 11:23 p.m.

Made these tonight for my family as a little treat. They absolutely loved them. It was such an easy recipe to whip up and it didn’t take long. Will definitely make agin.

sydney hisle - July 5, 2023, 4:12 a.m.

Mmmm!! Crowd pleasers that you can whip up in less than 30 minutes?! Yes please!

Made these as instructed and also made them 1:1 with oat flour. I REALLY enjoyed the texture of the oat flour in this recipe.

The dough seemed a bit dry for me so I just added a tiny bit more oil and it was perfect!! I’ve heard that more dry environments can cause this & it’s dry here right now!

sydney hisle - July 5, 2023, 4:13 a.m.

They spread perfectly and this recipe was so satisfying all around

PUL Team - July 5, 2023, 8:35 a.m.

Woop woop! So thrilled to hear, Sydney, thank you 🤗

Ruth - July 2, 2023, 2:11 p.m.

These are so delicious! My 6 year old son loved them too, will definitely be my go-to cookie recipe from now on :)

Carolina Bernardes - June 30, 2023, 7:01 p.m.

I just made this with my 6 year old brother and it was so easy and fun to bake! This is always my go-to cookie recipe and never disappoints 🤍

Lily - June 24, 2023, 5:27 p.m.

Absolutely delicious! I used vegan butter, coconut sugar, and GF flour and it worked splendidly! This recipe will definitely be on repeat. Thank you so much!

Joanna - June 16, 2023, 12:06 a.m.

...and I'm back ;)
The cookies are delicious, I love the one-bowl concept!
I reduced the brown sugar to 120g and also used spelt flour.
Will definitely be back for more recipes!

PUL Team - June 16, 2023, 4:10 a.m.

Ooo thanks for the update, Joanna! Happy baking 😃

Ankit - June 2, 2023, 1:51 p.m.

Hey Sadia & the PUL team,

The cookies look delicious. Thx for aharing the recipe.

I am planning to bake this for my nephew who has some food allergies. Quick questions:

1. Can we replace APF with almond or coconut flour?
2. Can we replace refined coconut oil with vegan butter?
3. Can brown sugar be replaced with organic stevia leaf powder?

Thx a ton!

PUL Team - June 2, 2023, 3:51 p.m.

Hey there, Ankit, awe so nice of you to consider making this recipe for your nephew! We've heard positive reviews for using almond flour in place of all-purpose flour, and vegan butter in place of coconut oil. As for stevia, we haven't experimented with it and imagine it will throw off the chemistry of the cookies. Stevia is significantly sweeter than brown sugar so you'd need to add much less, and using it may result in cookies that are drier, crumbly, and have less caramelization. You could try adding some more moisture, such as plant milk, and brushing the cookies with a little milk before baking to counteract this. Perhaps start experimenting with a small batch if you try out the substitutions.

In case you're interested and haven't already seen, our One-Bowl Blueberry Almond Breakfast Cookies are free from refined sugar and coconut oil, plus use almond flour:…. This recipe would need no experimenting ☺️

Ankit - June 2, 2023, 4:27 p.m.

Awesome! Thx for the quick revert and addressing all my questions. Will check out the recipe recommendation right away..cheers! 🤗

Karen - May 20, 2023, 4:48 p.m.

My cookies didn't spread and were quite hard. Still tasted good though. But can you suggest what my error was that made them come out hard? The only adjustment I made was to leave out the maple syrup, which I didn't have.
Thanks for your help.

PUL Team - May 20, 2023, 5:02 p.m.

Hey Karen, thanks for taking the time to share! There are a few reasons that come to mind, mainly not enough moisture, fat, or overmixing the dough. Did you measure using the gram and mL amounts listed, or using the cup and Tbsp amounts? In case you use cup measurements, it might help to ensure that the flour isn't too packed in the cup, but rather, gently spooned into the measuring cup and levelled. This will ensure that not too much flour is added compared to the other ingredients.

Maple syrup adds moisture to cookies, and omitting it might have resulted in a drier dough, leading to harder cookies. You could try replacing the maple syrup with an alternative like agave syrup. Overmixing the dough can also lead to excess gluten development, which can make cookies tough and dense. Mixing the ingredients until just combined is recommended. We hope this helps for now 🤗

EJ - May 5, 2023, 2:45 a.m.

HEY Sadia & PUL team,

I am just wondering about the absence of an acid in this recipe, despite the use of both baking powder & baking soda. Perhaps you can break it down for me, please? :)

In fact, I scaled up this recipe a little and froze the cookies for future use (ended up using 1 1/4 tsp baking powder + 1 tsp baking soda). Tried baking them from frozen at 165C for 14-ish minutes and the cookies did not really spread much & had a slightly metallic aftertaste. Still delicious though!

Is it very likely that I have overmixed the batter in the beginning OR even overbaked? :(((

Thank you in advance for any tips/feedback.

PUL Team - May 6, 2023, 7:29 a.m.

Hey there, EJ, thanks for the questions! This recipe doesn't need additional acid because baking powder already contains an acid in it naturally 🙂

When scaling up a cookie recipe, it's generally not recommended to scale up the amount of baking powder or baking soda used. The reason for this is that these ingredients are leavening agents and have a chemical reaction with the other ingredients in the recipe. If you scale up the recipe and proportionally increase the amount of baking powder or baking soda used, you may end up with cookies that are too fluffy or cakey, and they may also have an unpleasant metallic taste.

So it's generally recommended to keep the amount of baking powder/soda the same when scaling up a cookie recipe and adjust the other ingredients accordingly.

I hope this helps 🤗

EJ - May 7, 2023, 9:53 a.m.

Hi hi, really thank you for your speedy reply!

I simply followed your website's built-in recipe scaler haha, and it told me to scale up the leavenings as well.

Oh well, that's alright... I'll keep these tips in mind next time!

Have a good one, Sadia/PUL Team <3

PUL Team - May 8, 2023, 12:50 a.m.

Hey EJ, ya sorry about that 😅. Unfortunately, the scaling feature can only scale proportionally based on the original recipe. This works really well for meals and such, but not as well for baking recipes. We've considered disabling the scaling feature for baked recipes, but then we thought people would be confused as to why scaling is possible on some recipes and not on others... so it's just a tricky situation. Your feedback really helps us out though, so thank you! We'll keep our eyes out for any potential solutions 🤓

EJ - May 8, 2023, 3:22 p.m.

No worries at all, keep up the extraordinary work @PUL!

Will be supporting you all the way through, mostly morally though hehe <3

Love from Malaysia.

Anishka - April 14, 2023, 6:37 p.m.

So good and easy! Highly recommend! I made this following the “make along” feature on the app and it was so helpful xx

PUL Team - April 14, 2023, 8:27 p.m.

So happy to hear, Anishka - it means so much!

Regina - April 13, 2023, noon

I hadn’t planned on making these today, but so glad I did! No weird ingredients, very easy and quick to make, and soooo delicious. Tip: try one when they’re still warm, about 5 min after they come out of the oven. You will not regret it! 😍

PUL Team - April 13, 2023, 10:04 p.m.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the cookies, Regina!

Jawaria Samiya Siddiqui - April 4, 2023, noon

This is yum. I tried it. And I loved it.

Mariana - March 19, 2023, 8:12 p.m.

Amazinggggg! I ran out of coconut oil, so I ended up using half coconut oil, half vegan butter and used agave instead of maple syrup. Also made them in the airfryer. My room mates (not vegan) are crazy about them! I made them to eat during the week, but I'm afraid they won't last long... Thank you for sharing your recipes and amazing health advices, your content makes my life easier and more balanced. Keep up the good work!

Lot's of love and appreciation from Vila Real, Portugal!

PUL Team - March 19, 2023, 9:36 p.m.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience with the recipe and the kind words, Mariana! Hugs to Portugal 🤗

Sarah S - March 16, 2023, 1:32 a.m.

These are amazing! Mine were actually a little crispy around the edges, which I love! I will definitely be making these again!

PUL Team - March 16, 2023, 4:30 p.m.

Thanks, Sarah! Happy baking 🤗

Shua - Feb. 22, 2023, 11:32 p.m.

These are soooo good! Mine came out not as brown as the ones in your photo and a tad fluffier but I loved it. They tasted like the chewy chips ahoy without the chemical aftertaste. Soooooo good thank you for sharing this recipe! Perfect to enjoy on this snowy day <3

PUL Team - Feb. 23, 2023, 6:36 p.m.

Awe we appreciate it so much, Shua, stay cozy out there ❄️

Sarah - Feb. 12, 2023, 10:12 p.m.

Delicious and super easy cookie recipe!! I used vegetable oil instead of coconut oil and baked these for 15 minutes. They still weren't as browned as the website photos, but were very tasty nonetheless and I can't wait to try more recipes on here!

PUL Team - Feb. 12, 2023, 10:37 p.m.

Thanks for sharing your experience with it, Sarah! Every oven is different so you could try bumping up the temperature a bit if you give the recipe another go. Using fresh baking soda also helps with browning. We hope you love our other recipes! Happy cooking and baking 🤗

Michelle - Feb. 11, 2023, 5:23 p.m.

Oh my goodness I can't even describe how AMAZING these cookies are! Not only are they super easy to make, but they are literally the cookies of my dreams - so soft and chocolatey and they almost melt in your mouth! I swapped the coconut oil for vegan butter and it still works great. Will definitely be making these again :)

PUL Team - Feb. 11, 2023, 11:45 p.m.

So thrilled to hear, Michelle, thanks for sharing your experience with the cookies!

Louisa - Jan. 30, 2023, 8:17 a.m.

Love them, they are so quick and easy to make yet addictive. Though you can easily use half the sugar and it's still very sweet.

Salome - Jan. 26, 2023, 1:43 p.m.

Delicious! I didn't have vanilla extract so I added more maplesyrup instead!
The flavour being so strong reminded me of pancakes so I tell my friends they are pancake cookies :p
I also used almondflour instead which make them.. a bit more healthier! haha.

PUL Team - Jan. 26, 2023, 11:09 p.m.

Pancake cookies for the win 🤩 So glad they're being enjoyed, Salome!

Mariam - Oct. 10, 2022, 7:45 a.m.

Very easy to make and super delicious
This recipe is my go to recently

PUL Team - Oct. 10, 2022, 7:15 p.m.

Woop woop! Thank you, Mariam 😃

Petronela - Oct. 8, 2022, 9:25 a.m.

My 6 years old nephew loved making these cookies with me, and they turned out delicious!

Lærke Stougaard Laursen - Sept. 19, 2022, 5:46 p.m.

I liked that they’re soft and easy to make. Definitely new for me to se a dough looking like that (in the step before adding the flour) I definitely thought I had done something wrong. But then I saw the video on YouTube and that reassured me

PUL Team - Sept. 19, 2022, 6:35 p.m.

So glad the cookies were enjoyed and the video was helpful, Lærke!

Tiffany - Sept. 10, 2022, 9:57 a.m.

Amazing cookies!!! I am lactose intolerant and it was so good to enjoy delicious chocolate chip cookies! Can the dough be frozen? And if yes, how long will it keep in the freezer?

PUL Team - Sept. 11, 2022, 4:08 a.m.

Hey there, Tiffany! So happy to hear the cookies were enjoyed. We haven't had a chance out freezing them, but we highly suspect it would work nicely to freeze the batter and bake the cookies later if desired. Let us know how it goes if you give freezing the dough a try 😃

Tiffany - Sept. 10, 2022, 9:57 a.m.

Zoe - Sept. 2, 2022, 7:03 p.m.

My go to cookie recipe! The best I've ever found, thank you!!!

Mary - Aug. 22, 2022, 8:33 p.m.

I overestimated the power of these cookies.. and I ended up with having a couple of huge ones instead of around 20 small ones! :) The taste is however super nice, so next time I will just make sure to give those guys some more room to grow.
Thank you for the recipe!

PUL Team - Aug. 23, 2022, 8:18 p.m.

Hey Mary, we're so glad the cookies were enjoyed! We recommend placing 1 tablespoons worth of dough around 2 inches (5 cm) apart as these cookies indeed spread 😃

Laya Galea - July 13, 2022, 4:46 p.m.

Every time i make these cookies my family goes crazy, they're so delicious, tasty and healthy! Thank you so so much for this recipe x

PUL Team - July 13, 2022, 5:43 p.m.

So glad they're being enjoyed, Laya, thanks a bunch 😃

Lilly Probst - June 14, 2022, 7:40 p.m.

Hey Lilly! Awe we're incredibly grateful for the support and that you're allowing PUL to be part of your vegan journey. Sending an abundance of love and warm wishes back to Cologne, Germany 💛

Pardis - June 10, 2022, 9:22 a.m.

I make those for my coworkers anytime they accept to switch shifts with me !

PUL Team - June 13, 2022, 2:12 a.m.

Oh so kind of you, Pardis! A delicious thank you 🍪

Judy - May 29, 2022, 6:28 a.m.

I followed instructions, only thing i used different was chocolate chips instead of broken up chocolate. and almond milk. They were dry and didnt taste very good. Dont know if I messed up but i did follow the recipe. They didnt spread out at all. And did not look like the picture. OH well

PUL Team - May 29, 2022, 5:38 p.m.

Hi there, Judy, we're disappointed to hear they didn't turn out! Cookies that come out dry and crumbly might mean there's too much flour in comparison to oil and sugar. Did you measure using the gram and mL amounts listed, or using the cup and Tbsp amounts?

In case you use cup measurements, perhaps it might help to ensure that the flour isn't too packed in the cup, but rather, gently spooned into the measuring cup and levelled. This will ensure that not too much flour is added if you give the recipe another try. It's also possible the batter may have been over mixed or over baked so considering to only stir until just combined and baking until lightly golden are two other ideas. We hope this helps for now, Judy 🙂

Judy - May 29, 2022, 7:27 p.m.

Thank you so much for your reply. I will for sure try again. I used the cup and tbsp. I must sound like an idiot, but I dont even know what a gram or ML is. All of my utensils are cups and tbsp. How do you even measure a gram? You must be in maybe Canada?

Thanks again for your quick response

Judy - May 29, 2022, 7:29 p.m.

Let me try sending this again.

PUL Team - May 30, 2022, 7:10 a.m.

Oh, Judy, it's no problem at all. There are many different cooking terms it can be overwhelming! Grams is a unit of weight that can be measured on a scale. mL is an abbreviation for millilitres which is a unit of volume. We have some of the conversions listed in our jumpstart guide in case you're interested and haven't already seen:…. We hope this helps for now and do keep us in the loop if you give the cookies another try ☺️

Rose - May 18, 2022, 2:48 a.m.

The most delicious chocolate chip cookies ever. My 5 years old loves them.
Thank you so much for all the recepies. I have been vegan for only 2 months and you are making my life easier.

PUL Team - May 18, 2022, 4:33 a.m.

We're smiling from ear to ear, Rose, thank you! Thank for allowing PUL to be part of your vegan journey and wishing you all the best on it 🌱 💛

Brooke - May 11, 2022, 9:08 p.m.

Hi!! These are the most delicious chocolate Chip Cookie recipe I've ever had! So soft! Just a question. Are these cookies healthy??

PUL Team - May 12, 2022, 3:38 p.m.

Hey Brooke, we're so thrilled the cookies are being enjoyed! Here at PUL we like to think of 1) nourishing our cells and 2) nourishing our soul. In the first instance, we might think of foods that are nutrient-dense and help our bodies function at the most optimal (such as veggies, fruits, legumes, etc). In the second instance, we might think of foods that we give ourselves permission to enjoy, even if they're not traditionally deemed nutrient-rich. These are foods we may enjoy because we feel like it, are enjoying food in the company of others, etc. - such as the cookies. We don't intend to label these as a "bad" choice by any means. If you're interested, you can learn more about our philosophy here:… 😊

Eliza e - April 22, 2022, 8:39 a.m.

This recipe is probably the most delicious choc chip cookies I've ever tasted!!!
I have pretty much been making them every day for my family of 9!!!
I think this recipe will never go out of my cookie rotation!

PUL Team - April 23, 2022, 2:16 a.m.

Such a huge compliment, Eliza, thank you!

Vihaani - March 1, 2022, 5:13 a.m.

This was a delicious recipe! It's now my go to recipe for birthday gifts :)

PUL Team - March 1, 2022, 5:44 a.m.

Oh we're so honoured! So kind of you to gift them too, Vihaani 😊

Virág - Feb. 11, 2022, 9:01 p.m.

My not vegan boyfriend told me that this is the best cookie he ever ate and want me to make it often 🥰

PUL Team - Feb. 14, 2022, 2:35 a.m.

Wow that means so much, Virág! So nice of you to make it as well 😊

Advait - Jan. 22, 2022, 7:54 a.m.

amazing ! can we use wheat flour instead or mix 1/2 and 1/2?

PUL Team - Jan. 23, 2022, 8 p.m.

Hi Advait, great question! We can't say for certain as we haven't tried it before, but with some experimenting, it may be possible 😃 You should be able to substitute around a third to half of the all-purpose flour with whole wheat without major changes. Adding more than this will likely require more liquid and the cookies will be denser.

Jessi - Jan. 21, 2022, 4:58 p.m.

Sehr, sehr lecker und so einfach zu machen 😋🍪👍🏻

Léa - Jan. 16, 2022, 8:08 p.m.

Love this recipe, my non-vegan boyfriend loved it as much as I did! Also you only need cupboard staples so you can make them anytime, which is perfect!!

PUL Team - Jan. 16, 2022, 8:51 p.m.

So thrilled that the cookies are being enjoyed, Léa, thank you!

Katie Daly - Dec. 25, 2021, 2:18 a.m.

I just made these. I made huge cookies and they stayed fluffy! I have never been able to get fluffy big cookies. I'm so excited to bring these out for every one tomorrow for Xmas. Thank you so much.

PUL Team - Dec. 25, 2021, 7:48 p.m.

Oh, Katie, we're so happy to hear! Wishing you the happiest of holidays 💚

Lupe - Dec. 16, 2021, 9:15 p.m.

Every recipe of yours I have tried so far is easy and incredible tasty. I now consider myself a big fan and I will not stop recommending this blog
Thank you!

PUL Team - Dec. 17, 2021, 1:34 a.m.

Aw such a huge compliment, Lupe, thank YOU so much!

Katie Daly - Dec. 24, 2021, 11:32 p.m.

Completely agree. I tag them like I'm getting money 😆😆
Love pul so much.

Carmen - Nov. 28, 2021, 6:30 a.m.

If I use olive oil or avocado oil, do i still put the dough to chill in the fridge?

PUL Team - Nov. 28, 2021, 11:13 p.m.

Hi Carmen, you wouldn't need to as they won't solidify much compared to coconut oil. Kindly note that the cookies will be thinner and less flakey with a vegetable-based oil though. We hope you enjoy the cookies if you give it a try 😊

Rashmi - Nov. 26, 2021, 5:28 p.m.

This was a delicious recipe! It's now my go to recipe for birthday gifts :)

PUL Team - Nov. 27, 2021, 8:34 p.m.

We're so honoured the cookies are being shared on special occasions! Do let us know if you have any feedback to help us improve, Rashmi ✨

Sam - Oct. 28, 2021, 7:18 a.m.

These are so good! We’re big fans of chocolate chip cookies 🍪 and this recipe has been a big hit.
I was wondering if the dough freezes well?

PUL Team - Oct. 29, 2021, 5:19 a.m.

Hi Sam, that's a lovely question! We haven't had a chance to test it out, but you could very likely freeze the batter and bake the cookies later if desired. Let us know how it goes if you give freezing the dough a try 🌻

Kim Bresseleers - Oct. 23, 2021, 8:04 a.m.

I made these cookies this week and they are so delicious and easy to make!!

Charlotte - Oct. 6, 2021, 6:50 p.m.

Ever since I first made these cookies they have been one of our favourite cookie recipes. Sometimes good old chocolate chip just hits the spot! I love how light these cookies are with a generous amount of chocolate chunks. We come back to it again and again.

PUL Team - Oct. 7, 2021, 8:52 p.m.

Oh, Charlotte, you're too kind! It means so much that the cookies are being enjoyed 😊

Juliette M - Sept. 21, 2021, 4:44 p.m.

Just made these cookies and there are just delicious. Thank you for all the recipes / videos and content you posted. I am looking forward to the next ones.

PUL Team - Sept. 22, 2021, 4:46 a.m.

Aw thanks a bunch, Juliette, happy cooking ☺️

Amani - Sept. 14, 2021, 10:25 p.m.

Simple ingredients that we already had. My daughter is obsessed with your recipes and so I must always use her name to comment. Very delicious and we had fun making it during lock down.

PUL Team - Sept. 15, 2021, 2:05 a.m.

We love to hear the experiences with your daughter, Amani, thank you for taking the time to share!

Francene - Sept. 13, 2021, 11:37 a.m.

Incredible! Thanks so much for this recipe. Everyone loved it. I added pecans and they were delicious and so easy to make, thanks!

PUL Team - Sept. 14, 2021, 1:45 a.m.

So happy to hear the cookies were enjoyed, Francene!

Leigh - Sept. 9, 2021, 10:24 a.m.

Loved them! Took 20mins for mine to cook, but they tasted amazing. Super easy and quick recipe.

Charlotte - Sept. 7, 2021, 6:09 p.m.

I have been baking chocolate chip ccookies ever since I can remember. I have tried so many reciepes and I am so happy to have tried this one! This is my now go-to-reciepe. It is easy, delicious and somehow has a very familiar taste to it.
Everybody snatches them right out of the box!
I like playing with the softness by using different types of sugar. Would definitely recommend!

PUL Team - Sept. 8, 2021, 5:56 p.m.

Aw this is a huge compliment, Charlotte! Thank you for the lovely review 🍪

Arundhati - Aug. 28, 2021, 6:04 a.m.

Baked this with my niece today. And it turned out great . The recipe was easy to follow. Especially the customization of quantity. Will definitely be my go to Choco chip recipe in future. Thanks for all that you do Sadia!

Clare - Aug. 25, 2021, 10:06 a.m.

These cookies were super delicious but just a tat too sweet for my tastes. Since I used the gramm measurements, I will try using cups next time and see if they still turn out as sweet. Other than that, great recipe!

PUL Team - Aug. 28, 2021, 5:07 p.m.

Hi Clare, thanks for the honest review and feedback! Indeed the cookies are on the sweeter side. Another idea may be to ensure unsweetened plant milk is used. We're glad the cookies were enjoyed in any case 😊

Grace - Aug. 20, 2021, 2:56 p.m.

This is my go-to chocolate chip cookie recipe! I brought a batch to my family Christmas party last year and (without knowing they were vegan and that I had baked them) my cousins were eating them, talking about how delicious they were, and telling everyone else to try one IMMEDIATELY, lol! Once I told my family that the cookies were vegan, they were mind-blown! With this recipe under my belt I think I might have my aunt's "best cookie ever" beat, hehehe...

PUL Team - Aug. 23, 2021, 9:33 p.m.

Ooo so honoured to hear, Grace! Love that the cookies were enjoyed with your family 😃

Flurina - Aug. 4, 2021, 10:11 p.m.

I made these cookies to bring those to a friend's house. Even the guy who is rather picky when it comes to cookies loved them.
They are easy to make, with ingredients I usually have on hand and they turn out soft and delicious.

Mayra - Aug. 3, 2021, 1:53 a.m.

My kids and hubby are very picky when it comes to desserts and they LOVED these cookies! They had no idea they’re vegan. This will be our go to chocolate chip cookie recipe from now on.

PUL Team - Aug. 5, 2021, 4:10 a.m.

So glad the cookies were enjoyed by your husband and little ones, Mayra!

Mabel - July 30, 2021, 5:03 p.m.

These were lovely!! I used vegan butter instead of refined coconut oil since its expensive where I like but it came out just great. I love how the recipe is so simple to follow, my non-vegan family didn't even notice.

PUL Team - Aug. 1, 2021, 8:51 a.m.

Thanks a bunch for sharing, Mabel, super helpful!

Nidhi - July 25, 2021, 5:58 p.m.

Hey PUL team! I've made these cookies SO MANY TIMES and every time (even without access to all the measuring tools), they have turned out INCREDIBLE!!! This is my go-to vegan cookie recipe! I normally use coconut sugar instead of brown, and oat milk as opposed to soy. I'm drooling just thinking about them - they are heavenly! If I had to recommend one cookie recipe from the range that PUL offers - I'd say try this one first, you will not be dissapointed!

Fun story: I made a batch of 14 for our family and friends caravan trip around south-east england last summer. Initially, I thought that only the kids would finish them - but as soon as I opened the box, the parents and kids all finished them in 5 MINUTES! haha! They kept asking for more but I had to tell them that I sadly didn't have any more! It was such a hyggelig moment, as the danish would say, all of us gathered enjoying these cookies in a caravan after a lovely day out exploring is something I'll never forget :)

Eternally grateful that I stumbled across your channel whilst scrolling one day on YouTube, Sadia! I always look forward to trying out the new snacks that you create and of course, watching the youtube videos is one of my favourite moments of each week. It would be a dream to meet you one day! Sending love from London, UK! <3

PUL Team - July 27, 2021, 5:28 p.m.

Dearest Nidhi, thank YOU for taking the time to share the glowing review! It means so much to hear and we're so grateful to have you in the PUL community 🥰 Sending lots of love to London 💖

Hadeel - July 25, 2021, 2:31 p.m.

I make them all the time, i like them more flat, so I get the coconut oil a little bit more runny.

A friend of mine tried them once when she visited me, and now whenever I visit her, I have to make a batch as a gift.

PUL Team - July 27, 2021, 2:06 a.m.

So kind of you to make them for your friend, Hadeel!

Sophie - July 24, 2021, 9:49 p.m.

This recipe has been my go to during years! They are like cake-cookie, so super soft and comforting, really delicious!

Barbora - July 24, 2021, 8:53 p.m.

These cookies are mmmmmmmm soo delicious, soft and simply awesome! I made them with classic coconut oil as I really like the chocolate - coconut combo and the result was so much better than I expected.

PUL Team - July 26, 2021, 8:07 p.m.

Oh, Barbora, we're so happy to hear the cookies were enjoyed! Thank you 🙂

Valeryia the cat lady - July 24, 2021, 6:59 p.m.

This recipe became my signature among not even vegan friends. At any gathering they would ask me to make a batch of those. Super delicious! But don't overbake them! 10 min max

PUL Team - July 26, 2021, 7:18 a.m.

So glad you're enjoying the cookies, Valeryia, thank you for sharing!

Molly K - July 24, 2021, 2:56 p.m.

I love these cookies. If you follow the recipe solely, I’d rate it an 8/10, but it’s so easy to customise with great results. I’ve used golden syrup instead of maple, and added salted pistachios with the chocolate and it takes it through the roof of brilliance. I don’t even bother eating non vegan cookies at this point, they just don’t live up to these. I took these into school on the last day, and had so many people ask me for the recipe. Thanks Sadia!

PUL Team - July 25, 2021, 9:42 p.m.

Thank you, Molly, for taking the time to share your kind words with us! It means so much that the cookies have been enjoyed 🤩

Nuala - July 23, 2021, 7:30 a.m.

Hello! If I wanted to make these gluten free - what flour would you recommend?

PUL Team - July 25, 2021, 6:59 p.m.

Hey Nuala, I'm not too sure without trying it out as gluten-free flours arent' often a one-for-one substitute, but we'll keep trying to make gluten-free cookies. In the meantime, this might offer some options:…

PUL Team - July 25, 2021, 7:26 p.m.

Hey Nuala, I can't say for certain as we haven't tried it before, although a mix of gluten-free flours usually works better than using just one GF flour on its own. Here's a flour blend recipe from Minimalist Baker that might help:… - good luck with the baking!

Ana Rita - July 17, 2021, 4:06 p.m.

I was feeling like baking cookies for a long time (I ended up buying for laziness), but I am so glad I've made these today! Super easy, simple ingredients and delicious, they end any sweet craving 😍
I love Pick Up Limes so much and some of my go-to recipes are from here! Thank you for all the inspiration and for proving us that veganism can be incredibly simple and wholesome - and to not ruin our relationship with food, I feel so glad you don't mind using sugar, while promoting a balanced eating, for example, that's why I kept following you all along 🥰

PUL Team - July 18, 2021, 3:17 a.m.

Aw you're too sweet, Ana, thank you so much for the very kind words and review! We're so grateful to have you in our PUL family 🥰

Lucia - July 13, 2021, 12:55 p.m.

Absolutely delicious!

These are my ultimate favourite, thank you so much for this recipe ❤️

Victoria - July 8, 2021, 9:50 p.m.

I tried making this with unrefined coconut oil, but the coconut taste comes out too much. Listen to Sadia and use refined.

Karen - July 8, 2021, 5:36 p.m.

Amazing!! 😋
I made these cookies a few times already to enjoy at a rainy day or to bring to friends and family and it's always a success!

PUL Team - July 9, 2021, 9:11 p.m.

So glad the cookies have been enjoyed with some of your loved ones, Karen! 🥳

Laura - July 7, 2021, 12:29 p.m.

When I took the first bite out of these soft angels sent from heaven, my kitchen was lit by sunlight and so were my taste buds. I wanted to cry. Shedding tears for every single chocolate chip in them. And oh they are moist, as if 150 g of tears (homemade) ARE in them (luckily the salt went into the ocean of admiration for this recipe - Thank you! ).

Laura - currently in cookie heaven

PS: I only had coconut sugar on hand, worked heavenly :)

PUL Team - July 8, 2021, 7:15 a.m.

Thank you for the glowing review, Laura! It means so much that you took the time to share your captivating words with us! We hope we can join you in cookie heaven soon 😃🍪

Sragdhara Ghosh - June 13, 2021, 2:47 p.m.

made them finally!! very easy but tasty and worth it!! substituted maple syrup with honey and coconut oil with olive oil and rest were same!! Thank you soo much PUL for your lovely recipes!! much love from India

PUL Team - June 13, 2021, 5:54 p.m.

So delighted you enjoyed the cookies, Sragdhara - thank you for the review! Lots of love to India 🤗

Nirja - May 23, 2021, 9:02 a.m.

Hi Sadia and PUL team
I love watching your videos and the effort that goes into the presentation and the information you provide is really commendable.
I am from India and this is going to be my first time to attempt such wonderful recipes. Hence, I would love to get few clarifications.
I would like to know if I can substitute coconut oil with any neutral tasting cooking oil, say groundnut oil. Also, can we substitute maple syrup with honey.
Looking forward to your response and keep up the good work!

PUL Team - May 24, 2021, 7:19 a.m.

Hey there, Nirja! You're too kind 🥰 For a coconut oil substitute, we would recommend a neutral vegetable oil, such as refined olive oil that doesn't impart the olive oil taste. You can totally substitute maple syrup with honey as well. Happy cooking 🤩

Nirja - May 24, 2021, 7:34 a.m.

Hi, thank you for such a prompt response. Just a follow-up to your response - the quantity of olive oil can be the same as what you have specified for the coconut oil in your recipe?

PUL Team - May 24, 2021, 7:58 a.m.

Yup that's exactly right, Nirja!

Nirja - May 24, 2021, 8:02 a.m.

Thank you! Will let u know how they turned out! :)

Kamryn Scott - April 12, 2021, 5:54 a.m.

I will preach Sadia's recipes until the day I'm gone. I'm fully serious when I say that 90% of my vegan recipes come from her, and it makes me SO excited to eat vegan. I spent the day meal prepping with 4/5 recipes being from Sadia's, each ending with a jaw drop after tasting from my mom. These cookies give the exact comforting warmth you'd expect from a Grandma's kitchen, and as I tasted it, I promised myself that the day I become a Grandma, these will be the legendary cookies I deliver! I could go on and on about Sadia, but if you have any hesitation about veganism, her recipes are the way to go. My dad isn't crazy about veganism in general, but he couldn't even NOTICE a difference in these cookies. LOVE THEM!

PUL Team - April 12, 2021, 7:04 a.m.

Aww your support means so much, Kamryn! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time to share your kind words and review 🥰 We're so grateful you're part of the PUL family and are enjoying the PUL content 💖
