This whipped tofu has a satisfyingly creamy texture and a bold flavour, much like cream cheese. Toasted bread and juicy tomatoes help to make this a delicious and speedy breakfast or snack option.
Add the oil to a large pan on medium-high heat. Toast the bread until golden on both sides.
Spread a generous amount of whipped tofu on the toasted bread.
Top with tomato slices and basil. Optionally, finish with a drizzle of olive oil, a sprinkle of salt, and cracked pepper. Enjoy!

Hey there, Živa! We don't imagine smoked tofu will work well as a full substitute for firm tofu. It tends to be more dry, doesn't blend as smoothly, and has a more pronounced taste. If you want to try it, we suggest adding a bit more oil if it's needed. In case it helps, we've heard a positive review from Biance who used half smoked tofu and half general tofu though 🤗

I didn't have onion flakes so I used minced dried onion and garlic powder. I'd use 1/2 of the recommended recipe for those because it was pretty strong in flavor. Still tasted delicious & would make again. It was so easy, even in my blender!

Well, I can say that since getting the PUL app, I have been eating a lot more tomatoes :D This is super tasty any time of day and the whipped tofu is great to make in advance. In my most recent iteration today I added lots of fresh chives and a leftover green onion stalk which is SO GOOD! I also add a bit more vinegar (or lemon juice!) to get that proper cream cheese kick :)

If i buy a vegan cream cheese type thing it costs me €2,65 for 150 grams. If I spend an extra 10 minutes to make this, I pay €1,50 for 350 grams of tofu. Let's say the rest of the stuff costs me 1 euro (probably less). That's less money, for over twice the amount and it's tastier too. I'm saving so much money eating with this app and I just don't think that's appreciated enough.

Simple and yummy! I added a big dollop of the leftover whipped tofu to leftovers of the One Pot Tomato and Chickpea Stew (also from the app), which also turned out delicious! I think the whipped tofu would also be tasty as a filling for pasta shells. Thanks for all the great recipes!

Delicious and super easy to make! I had to add a few tablespoons of water to help my stick blender (my tofu was very firm). I didn't have the herbs on hand so I did a very simple version with only onion powder but it was still super tasty! I really enjoyed this but have a question about the texture of the whipped tofu. I was expecting something like cream cheese but mine turned out quite grainy and did not stick together. I used tofu that had been previously pressed and frozen. Is it possible I eliminated too much liquid from the tofu?

Hey Laurie, I suspect the culprit is indeed that too much water was removed from the recipe. We only lightly pressed the tofu, and freezing tends to remove even more water from the tofu once it thaws. You can always add a small splash of water or plant milk to help smooth it out a bit :)

I wished I made this sooner… it’s super yummy and takes little time. I added fresh oregano instead of chives because that’s all I had. It so creamy and decadent. I’ve added it to my roasted veggie sandwich and its perfect. I even added it to my vegan charcuterie board topped with pecans and onion jam… it was such a hit.

My 2.5 year old called this “super, super tasty!” and ate it on crackers, and dipped cucumber and carrot sticks in it. I’m shocked at how good it is myself! Didn’t think I’d be a whipped tofu fan. Would be great on all kinds of things: sandwich spread, board dip or even topped on crispy potatoes.

This recipe is AMAZING. I have a hard time eating in the morning, everything makes me sick. But this cream cheese is the only thing that can eat and it tastes so good. I eat it every day before going to school. No more boring plain toast mornings. I just made this and I had it on toast and it was really tasty. Its nice to have something different from hummus. My only slight recommendation is that if you live in the UK and use the Tofoo brand it is a little dry so I had to add a little plant milk. Other than that it was a really easy recipe to make.

Sorry, I wasn't wowed by it. For the amount of effort, taste and nutritional value, I'm sticking to hummus as my toast spread. I will note, when you click on your link for small food processor, I recommend using the hand blender over the little food processor as the ingredients don't blend well, and you end up having to open FP and mush it down repeatedly.

Oh. My. God. This is the most delicious thing I’ve ever tasted!! I topped one slice with a lemon flavored olive oil and the other with a blackberry balsamic vinaigrette, it really topped off such a wonderful meal! Thank you for this recipe it’s going to be a forever favorite for me!

This was so good! Simple way to get protein. This would be wonderful on crackers, as a dip and stuffed into celery, cherry tomatoes, jalapeno and baby sweet peppers for appetizers. So glad I tried it. Thanks for the recipe 😊 xo

I love this recipe! I already made the cream cheese from this recipe multiple times and had it with some pickles but this morning I finally prepared the whole thing with toasted bun and tomato. It was really delicious and the recommended toppings took it to another level. I can't recommend this recipe enough, it's that great!

Hi there! So I made this without nutritional yeast and onion powder, and instead of apple cider vinegar I used lemon juice. Moreover, I do not have a food processor, so I mashed it all best I could using a fork - and guess what? It turned out really tasty! I am so positively impressed! The tofu spreads they sell in vegan section of grocery stores usually taste much worse and are much more expensive. I ate it on a toast with cherry tomatoes along with your simple lentil soup. It made an excellent dinner.

Hey Isabelle! We wouldn't advise using a basic blender for this one as there isn't enough liquid and it could break. An electric mixer also may not be powerful enough or cause the spread to splatter. A food processor is better suited for a firmer mixture, such as this, if you have access to one. If not, perhaps mashing well with a fork first and then if needed a high power blender or electric mixer could be tried (with extra liquid if needed). We hope you enjoy the recipe if you're able to give it a try 🙂

This is so amazing! And everyone should try it. I was a bit nervous about how the tofu would taste but it turned out so delicious. In addition to the tomatoes, I topped mine with some homemade pickled radishes and pickled onions ( which I followed the PUL recipe for!), some red pepper flakes and shaved truffles. Please try this!! My first bite was like a dream. Thank you so so much for this amazing recipe idea! I’ll happily be eating this everyday for the rest of the week (or month 😁)

Ok I wanna start off by saying I was very skeptical about this one but I had to try it. Oh my god its delicious. As a cream cheese LOVER it's hard to give it up but I have pretty bad "lack toes in toddler ants" 💩 But this is really good we made it last night and I've already eaten on it 3 times.

This was wonderfully delicious! I was skeptical about tofu cream cheese since I usually make a nut based one but was pleased with this much lower fat and cheaper version. I scaled up the recipe for a full brick of tofu and substituted tahini instead of oil, for an oil free version. I will definitely make it again. It’s such and quick and easy meal and everyone who ate it loved it too! Thanks! :)

This was incredible! I added a few tablespoons of Greek yogurt to help with texture since I only had extra firm tofu, and it was delicious!! Love the tomato on top as well - adds the perfect amount of sweetness to go with the savory spread.

Absolutely a game changer. In greece we have a feta dip which is basically mushed feta with some cream cheese and a spicy pepper. It reminded me of that very much. We have a variation with red pepper, which adds some sweetness that goes perfectly with the saltiness. I did the same here. In the batch for 4 I added 2 roasted red peppers and some cayenne pepper and I almost had a second dinner just by tasting again and again. Thanks so much, you make vegan cuisine look effortlessly delicious.

This is absolutely deliciouss OMG! The moment I saw this recipe I knew i must try it because I don't usually like buying vegan cream cheese from the grocery store or sometimes i run out of it but this is a game changer! I never thought cream cheese could come out of tofu. I just made mine and they turned out so good but a little moist but that's okay. Thank you for making breakfast not so boring :)

Onion powder and garlic powder isn't (as far as I know!) very commonly used here in Denmark. Fellow dane here:) I use garlic and onion powder all the time - you can find it in most supermarkets like føtex! I really like the ones from the brand Santa Maria:)

Hey Stine, thanks for the question - and thanks a bunch, Isa, for the insight! We prefer garlic and onion powder for their concentrated flavor, although if desired you could use fresh. Perhaps 1-2 cloves of garlic and 1/4 onion in place of the 1 tsp each of powder is one idea to start. You could always add more to taste. The texture of the spread may just be a tad different, as the vegetables will add more moisture than the powder 🙂

The idea of a tofu whip is amazing. Definitely gonna use this later. The clear taste of chives, however, I wasn’t a fan of. I expected that to be less prominent

I didn't have onion flakes so I used minced dried onion and garlic powder. I'd use 1/2 of the recommended recipe for those because it was pretty strong in flavor. Still tasted delicious & would make again. It was so easy, even in my blender!
I used half smoked tofu and half normal tofu and it tastes heavenly. 😇 I think it's an awsome recipe to introduce tofu to someone who isn't used to vegan food.

Well, I can say that since getting the PUL app, I have been eating a lot more tomatoes :D This is super tasty any time of day and the whipped tofu is great to make in advance. In my most recent iteration today I added lots of fresh chives and a leftover green onion stalk which is SO GOOD! I also add a bit more vinegar (or lemon juice!) to get that proper cream cheese kick :)

If i buy a vegan cream cheese type thing it costs me €2,65 for 150 grams. If I spend an extra 10 minutes to make this, I pay €1,50 for 350 grams of tofu. Let's say the rest of the stuff costs me 1 euro (probably less). That's less money, for over twice the amount and it's tastier too. I'm saving so much money eating with this app and I just don't think that's appreciated enough.

I added a big dollop of the leftover whipped tofu to leftovers of the One Pot Tomato and Chickpea Stew (also from the app), which also turned out delicious!
I think the whipped tofu would also be tasty as a filling for pasta shells.

Delicious and super easy to make! I had to add a few tablespoons of water to help my stick blender (my tofu was very firm). I didn't have the herbs on hand so I did a very simple version with only onion powder but it was still super tasty! Not commenting a lot but l always love your recipes and the aesthetic of the videos. Thanks a lot !

Not sure if it's the apple cider vinegar or the nutritional yeast that stands out to me. Either way I will be enjoying it.
I think our tofu wasn’t the ideal texture for this - a soft or silken tofu would be better for me personally! The flavor was nice.

I really enjoyed this but have a question about the texture of the whipped tofu. I was expecting something like cream cheese but mine turned out quite grainy and did not stick together. I used tofu that had been previously pressed and frozen. Is it possible I eliminated too much liquid from the tofu?

I wished I made this sooner… it’s super yummy and takes little time.
I added fresh oregano instead of chives because that’s all I had. It so creamy and decadent. I’ve added it to my roasted veggie sandwich and its perfect. I even added it to my vegan charcuterie board topped with pecans and onion jam… it was such a hit.

My 2.5 year old called this “super, super tasty!” and ate it on crackers, and dipped cucumber and carrot sticks in it. I’m shocked at how good it is myself! Didn’t think I’d be a whipped tofu fan. Would be great on all kinds of things: sandwich spread, board dip or even topped on crispy potatoes.

This recipe is so easy and we love to make the spread in bulk and use it throughout the week. We use it on anything from toasts to sandwiches and it is honestly the best! I would highly recommend this to anyone who is lazy like me :)
This recipe is AMAZING. I have a hard time eating in the morning, everything makes me sick. But this cream cheese is the only thing that can eat and it tastes so good. I eat it every day before going to school. No more boring plain toast mornings. It's also great for Sunday dinners, making a toast with tomatoes slices and olive oil, or spreading on a tortilla with vegetables, along with a soup... perfection.
It's not just me, my entire family devours it. I have to do a big batch to last through the week.

My only slight recommendation is that if you live in the UK and use the Tofoo brand it is a little dry so I had to add a little plant milk. Other than that it was a really easy recipe to make.

For the amount of effort, taste and nutritional value, I'm sticking to hummus as my toast spread.
I will note, when you click on your link for small food processor, I recommend using the hand blender over the little food processor as the ingredients don't blend well, and you end up having to open FP and mush it down repeatedly.
Oh. My. God. This is the most delicious thing I’ve ever tasted!! I topped one slice with a lemon flavored olive oil and the other with a blackberry balsamic vinaigrette, it really topped off such a wonderful meal! Thank you for this recipe it’s going to be a forever favorite for me!

This was so good! Simple way to get protein. This would be wonderful on crackers, as a dip and stuffed into celery, cherry tomatoes, jalapeno and baby sweet peppers for appetizers. So glad I tried it. Thanks for the recipe 😊 xo

I love this recipe! I already made the cream cheese from this recipe multiple times and had it with some pickles but this morning I finally prepared the whole thing with toasted bun and tomato. It was really delicious and the recommended toppings took it to another level. I can't recommend this recipe enough, it's that great!
Hi there! So I made this without nutritional yeast and onion powder, and instead of apple cider vinegar I used lemon juice. Moreover, I do not have a food processor, so I mashed it all best I could using a fork - and guess what? It turned out really tasty! I am so positively impressed! The tofu spreads they sell in vegan section of grocery stores usually taste much worse and are much more expensive. I ate it on a toast with cherry tomatoes along with your simple lentil soup. It made an excellent dinner.
The dip is delicious!! I quadrupled this recipe so that I could use my entire block of tofu and am so glad that I did! I've been spreading into onto open faced sandwiches as part of my lunch. Thank you so much for another amazing recipe!

I was a bit nervous about how the tofu would taste but it turned out so delicious.
In addition to the tomatoes, I topped mine with some homemade pickled radishes and pickled onions ( which I followed the PUL recipe for!), some red pepper flakes and shaved truffles.

Ok I wanna start off by saying I was very skeptical about this one but I had to try it. Oh my god its delicious. As a cream cheese LOVER it's hard to give it up but I have pretty bad "lack toes in toddler ants" 💩 But this is really good we made it last night and I've already eaten on it 3 times.
Can I substitute the apple cider vinegar for lemon juice or something else? I don't have it and I don't want to buy it since I dont use it much

Was so pleasantly surprised with this one! I love how the texture of the spread looked like cream cheese and the flavours tasted better than cream cheese. My non-vegan husband absolutely loved it. Will definitely be making this again and again!

This was wonderfully delicious! I was skeptical about tofu cream cheese since I usually make a nut based one but was pleased with this much lower fat and cheaper version. I scaled up the recipe for a full brick of tofu and substituted tahini instead of oil, for an oil free version. I will definitely make it again. It’s such and quick and easy meal and everyone who ate it loved it too! Thanks! :)
This was incredible! I added a few tablespoons of Greek yogurt to help with texture since I only had extra firm tofu, and it was delicious!! Love the tomato on top as well - adds the perfect amount of sweetness to go with the savory spread.
Absolutely a game changer. In greece we have a feta dip which is basically mushed feta with some cream cheese and a spicy pepper. It reminded me of that very much. We have a variation with red pepper, which adds some sweetness that goes perfectly with the saltiness. I did the same here. In the batch for 4 I added 2 roasted red peppers and some cayenne pepper and I almost had a second dinner just by tasting again and again. Thanks so much, you make vegan cuisine look effortlessly delicious.

This is absolutely deliciouss OMG! The moment I saw this recipe I knew i must try it because I don't usually like buying vegan cream cheese from the grocery store or sometimes i run out of it but this is a game changer! I never thought cream cheese could come out of tofu. I just made mine and they turned out so good but a little moist but that's okay. Thank you for making breakfast not so boring :)

Onion powder and garlic powder isn't (as far as I know!) very commonly used here in Denmark. I could probably get some if I searched for it, but I was just wondering if I could swap it for the fresh ingredients instead? And if yes, would it interfere with the longevity of it?
