I couldn't find butter beans at my local store, so I substituted with white beans (which are way smaller than the ones I saw on the video).
But oh boy, I really enjoyed to make and eat this recipe!! I love how easy and versatile it is. Thank you PUL team!!🤗

Patricia - May 16, 2022, 8:29 p.m.

I loved this one! Thanks again Sadia and PUL team!

PUL Team - May 18, 2022, 3:46 a.m.

Thank YOU, Patricia!

Katarina - May 16, 2022, 2:08 p.m.

I took my bike and went to the super market just to get the bell pepper and 10 cherry tomatoes, I thought I had harrissa sauce somewhere in my pantry (cuz I thought my sister had it) turns out I did not have it, so I made some spicy tomato sauce on my own, this recipe was 100% worth it and delicious for my tummy, thank you for posting these awesome recipes <3

PUL Team - May 16, 2022, 6:53 p.m.

This sounds incredible, Katarina, we're so glad it was enjoyed with the spicy tomato sauce 😍

Aurora - May 16, 2022, 10:43 a.m.

Thanks again for a delicious dinner! I am not sure what kind of harissa you find in the Netherlands though but with the one I find in France, there's no way I could use 2 Tbsp of it! haha The one we have here is almost like wasabi in strength, we have to dilute it in broth first (I usually live in the UK and the one I find there, I can easily use half of the jar because it's not spicy at all). So I only used a tiny bit this time and added a tin of diced tomatoes so I had lots of sauce to go with the pita bread :)

PUL Team - May 16, 2022, 6:47 p.m.

Hey Aurora, sometimes the sauces can vary, although were you using harissa paste instead of sauce by any chance? We've found that harissa sauce is better for less spice since it has more oil diluting the harissa compared to more concentrated pastes. Love the addition of diced tomatoes though and we're so glad it was still enjoyed in any case 😃

Marianna - May 16, 2022, 2:22 a.m.

Can you recommend a non spicy sauce to use instead of harissa?

PUL Team - May 16, 2022, 6:16 p.m.

Hey Marianna, a tomato-based sauce works nicely as a non-spicy substitute if desired. You could also experiment with a less spicy bean paste, garlic, or lemon-based sauce depending on your preferences 🙂

Franny - May 9, 2022, 8:31 p.m.

I just made this recipe for lunch. I'm actually eating it right now! I added some sliced Persian cucumber for a crunch. HOLY SMOKES!!! This is delicious and addictive. As long as I keep the components separated, does this travel and reheat well? This is would great for lunch at work.

PUL Team - May 9, 2022, 9:56 p.m.

Woohoo - so thrilled to hear, Franny! We've enjoyed this one reheated for lunch, although we haven't left in our bag for more than 1.5 hours without refrigeration. The separate components tend to store well in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days 🙂

Hi, I have enjoyed some of your receipies. They were all great. I am ready to try this one. I am on no wheat diet, what would you suggest to replace the pita With?
I am hooked on your videos. I am one of the subscribers. Love both of you. Cheers to Robin.

Hello Anna, thanks for sharing the kind words 🥰 Perhaps some ideas could be potato, rice, or a wheat-free bread/pita product, such as one made from rye.

Liv - May 5, 2022, 9:49 p.m.

Lovely flavour combinations! We enjoyed this dish, especially with a extra splash of lime

Quick and easy with lots of flavour. Perfect for midweek!

Danielle - April 25, 2022, 4:32 a.m.

I'm a turtle in the kitchen so this took me close to half an hour to cook, but it was well worth it! We loved it, and my husband has requested it again for dinner tonight!

I ended up substituting the bell pepper for a big portobello (150g) that I sauteed with the onion. Next time I'll add in some jalapenos too (I wasn't sure how spicy our harissa was and didn't want to overdo it).

I'm just wondering where the 19g of protein in the nutritional breakdown comes from? I used a 400g tin of Annalisa cannelini beans which yielded 240g of beans at 8.3g of protein per serve. The pita were only 3.7g per serve and I don't see the capsicum, tomatoes or coconut yoghurt providing more than 3g or so. 🤔 Will have to think of ways to sneak in a little extra.

PUL Team - April 25, 2022, 6:23 a.m.

Hey Danielle, we're so glad the labour of love was worth it! The nutrition information provided is an estimate based on the United States Nutrient Database (https://fdc.nal.usda.gov/). We also aim to weigh our ingredients directly where possible. The protein in our beans is similar to yours, although it sounds like our pitas may have been a tad higher in protein. It's natural for there to be some variation between brands and sizes 🙂 The other ingredients, such as onion and avocado will also provide a little protein.

In case you're interested and haven't already seen it yet, our protein article has some ideas related to increasing protein intake (https://www.pickuplimes.com/a…). Perhaps adding some more vegetables, seeds, or serving the beans with soy yogurt or an alternative whole grain are some ideas to bulk it up 😃

Danielle - May 2, 2022, 2:35 p.m.

Thanks for the suggestions! I found a different brand of wholemeal pita that has 10g of protein per serve, but I'm thinking this would also be fantastic served with quinoa. Unfortunately I can't find any soy yoghurt locally; I might have to try making my own!

We had this again tonight and I substituted the capsicum with a poblano (and also kept the mushrooms I added last time). It was even better than last time! This recipe is definitely a keeper and we'll be making it often! Thanks again, PUL team! 😊

PUL Team - May 2, 2022, 9:01 p.m.

Oo sounds lovely, Danielle, thanks for the update! We're so glad it's being enjoyed :)

I made this with white beans and even added mushrooms and snow peas for extra veggies and it turned out sooooo good, I put the bean and veggies mixture in a wrap with lettuce and I loved it, super flavorful <3

Charlotte - April 19, 2022, 9:35 p.m.

This recipe was absolutely delicious! The spicy bean mix with the cool creamy yogurt, avocado and toasted pita was an amazing combination! I loved how quick it was to make too.

Woohoo - thank you, Charlotte, we're so happy to hear!

Elle - April 17, 2022, 2:41 a.m.

This looks incredible! Any suggestions on what I could substitute the bell pepper for (strangely I'm 'allergic' to bell peppers - causes vomiting - but I'm fine with tomatoes and chillis)? I was thinking I'd just add additional tomatoes and some jalapenos?

Can't wait to try it! 😊

PUL Team - April 17, 2022, 6:40 a.m.

Hey Elle, additional tomatoes and chili sound lovely! Some other ideas could be zucchini, sweet potato, more onion, eggplant, or corn. We hope you enjoy it 😊

Jessica - April 16, 2022, 12:59 p.m.

Made this with black beans instead of butter beans and def took longer than 15 mins with my unskilled hands, but turned out so good! Thank you :P

PUL Team - April 16, 2022, 8:10 p.m.

Hey Jessica, thanks for sharing your experience with the pasta. Practice makes perfect 😄
