A staple tofu recipe is a game-changer. It's easy to throw into meals for a pump of protein and is a blank canvas, just waiting for a splash of flavour. If you're new to making tofu at home, this is my go-to way to prepare it. It's as easy as it can get! A quick press to remove extra water and a coating of seasoned cornstarch before pan-frying gives the tofu a wonderfully crispy, golden-brown outside and soft inside. It's the perfect, easy dinner option, especially when served with rice or noodles and bright veggies. It’s quick, delicious, and sure to be a favourite!

Will it brown up if baked in oven at 400F rather than use the oil.. which is a processed food and high in calories?

Hi Judy! The tofu will brown in the oven, but not quite in the same way. The oil helps with heat transfer and crisping, which is why it gives the tofu its golden, crunchy exterior. If you’d like to bake it, you can at 400°F (200°C), ideally on parchment and flipping halfway, but expect a drier, less crispy result. Lightly misting or brushing the tofu with a small amount of oil can help improve browning while still keeping the overall amount minimal. I hope this helps for now :)
