This dressing is tangy, herby and has a bit of sweetness. It is a perfect dressing to prepare in advance and keep on hand, as it is versatile and will be perfect for your mixed greens or even pasta salads.

    clove garlic, crushed
  • 2 Tbsp (30 mL)
    extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 Tbsp (15 mL)
    red wine vinegar
  • 2 tsp (10 mL)
  • 1 tsp (5 mL)
  • 1 tsp (1 g)
  • ¼ tsp
  • ¼ tsp
    chili flakes
  • ⅛ tsp
    ground black pepper


  1. Combine all the ingredients in a small bowl. Enjoy!

This Dressing is soooo tasty and easy to make! I substituted Red with White vinegar and it tasted fine, btw. This will become a staple!

Hi, I'm going on a bikepacking trip in a few days and this dressing seems perfect for salads with our meals in the camp. If I omit the garlic will the dressing be ok on room/outdoor temperature for longer(10-14 days)?

Hey Ana-Marija, without the garlic it will indeed last longer (perhaps you could add some garlic powder to taste if you'd like), but the shelf life will depend on several factors, including the ambient temperature and exposure to sunlight. Typically, an oil-based salad dressing like this one might be safe to consume for about 1 to 2 days without refrigeration, especially if kept in a cool, dark place but I'd be afraid that after that time, the risk of bacterial growth increases without refrigeration. It might last longer still, but I can't guarantee or say for sure how much longer. I hope this helps for now, and happy adventuring 🌱
