This is an easy, beautiful tart that is delicately layered with a smooth coconut filling and a vibrant gelée topping. With a shortbread crust that's dotted with coconut and a velvety smooth coconut custard, this tart is perfectly complemented by the tangy sweetness of the passionfruit.

I personally don’t like the flavour I of coconut (it’s too overpowering), is there a substitute for the shredded coconut and the full fat coconut milk? If there is, then I would be looking forward to making it, as I love passion fruit! 🤗✨✨

Heyy friend! Thanks for your interest in this one ☺️ I imagine you could try swapping the shredded coconut in the crust for very very finely chopped nuts (whatever you enjoy the flavour of), and use an unsweetened plant-based cream or barista-style oat/soy milk in place of the coconut milk. The texture may be a little less rich, so we’re not confident how it will turn out taste-wise, but the cornstarch in the custard layer should help the plant milk still thicken up nicely. Curious how you find it if you try it out - do let us know!
In case you haven’t seen it already, our “Coconut Mango Passion Fruit Trifle” may be more predictable to swap in. You can make it a general vegan whipping cream instead of coconut milk 🤗

Too sour for me, would add 1 lime instead of 2

I'm not a very experienced (or talented 😄) baker but this looked delicious and doable plus I love passion fruit, so I made this tarte on a nice vacation day!
It's SO GOOD. We don't have frozen passion fruit pulp where I live, so I went with the frozen mango chunks. But I did top the mango jelly with the pulp from three fresh passion fruit, which I highly recommend. The result is fresh, tart, and not to sweet. Great recipe!

Awe we're so happy to hear that the fruit tart was enjoyed, Julie! Love the idea of using fresh passion fruit pulp 🙌

Just a heads up that Walmart sells organic frozen passion fruit in the frozen fruit section and it's amazing. They also have the same brand with frozen coconut, acai berry and dragon fruit. Let's just say I now shop at Walmart and stock up on these.

Has someone tried making this gluten free? What flour would work best? 🥰

Hey there, Malou, we can't say with certainty as we haven't tested it out. A gluten-free flour mix generally works better than using just one gluten-free flour on its own (Like Bob's Red Mill Gluten Free Flour blend). We hope you enjoy the tart if you're able to give it a try 🤗

Hi Malou, just prepared it using a Gluten free flour Mix. It worked but got quite crumbly. Have to add that i am Not experienced with gluten free baking in the first place though. It's still tasty. Hope that helped you. Maybe someone else knows how to avoid the dissociation of the dough? :)

Thank you so much Anne! I appreciate it ☺️
