Doubled the recipe, but we barely had enough dough to make the same size house as in the instructions. Also had trouble getting the icing to be as thick as it should have been, but luckily it dried and kept everything together even though a the icing decorations were a tad runny.

Hey there, E! Aw, thanks so much for sharing this with us. The dough can feel a bit tight if it’s rolled thicker than the templates, since thicker dough means less surface area overall. Rolling it slightly thinner and re-rolling the scraps once more can help match the house size in the instructions if you decide to give it another try.

Hi there, Tereza! Hmm we haven't tried ourselves without molasses. You could possibly use dark corn syrup, maple syrup, or golden syrup, though each will slightly change the flavour and colour of the gingerbread. Maple syrup will make it a little lighter and sweeter, while golden syrup is closer in texture and sweetness to molasses. If you try a substitute, we’d love to hear how the gingerbread house turns out!✨

Unfortunately the gingerbread house was very unstable and the icing turned out to be super liquid…the dough itself was tasty!

Heyy Naomi, we’re glad the dough itself was a success, although we're sad to hear the icing wasn't. For the stability issues, two things usually make the biggest difference: baking the pieces a little longer so they’re extra firm, and using a thicker icing. If the icing turned out runny, it often means the aquafaba was a bit too thin, or the mixture just needed a bit more powdered sugar to stiffen up. I often find the extra powdered sugar really does the trick. In any case, thanks again for the feedback 🫶

Had a lovely Christmas afternoon with my sister in law because of this easy fool proof recipe! It was our first time making a gingerbread house but they both turned out great. We made two houses so I doubled the recipe. Thank you so much and have a wonderful Christmas 🎄

This was surprisingly easier to make than I thought it would be! And a lot of fun! I’ve only tried the box kits before, but making a homemade one was very enjoyable. Plus my kitchen smells wonderful! I plan to make it again next year. Thanks for the recipe.
