My first recipe to try with my one week free trial. I used red cabbage, onion, carrot, shiitake mushroom and birds eye chicken style pieces. Tasting the sauce I was a bit worried but once it was all done it was a huge success. 3 of us ate it, 2 vegans and one vego. All of us agreed we would definitely have it again. Only thing I'll change next time is less oil. I hardly use oil in my cooking but decided to make the recipe exactly. Only the vegetable oil I'll omit, and maybe a tad less sesame oil. Thanks!!!

I love chow mein and just got back from Farmer's Market with this recipe in mind. I don't buy bouillon cubes so I wanted to ask what would be a good replacement? I got China 5 spice and ras el hanout (cloves, allspice, black pepper, cardamom, ginger, cinnamon, mace, turmeric, rosebuds, cumin, white pepper, coriander, saffron, nutmeg, bay leaves, paprika). What would work best and how much (tspn) do you think? :)
PUL Team - May 13, 2024, 2:38 a.m.
Hey Galittza, the vegetable bouillon cube and water (2 Tbsp/30 mL for 3 servings) can be substituted for equal parts vegetable stock or broth, or you can simply omit it. We'd recommend giving the sauce a taste test in this case, and adding some salt or soy sauce if you think it needs it. We haven't tried with Chinese Five Spice or Ras el Hanout, but do let us know if you test either out 🤗

PUL Team - March 24, 2024, 8:06 p.m.
Hey Serena, sorry to hear the sauce wasn't to your liking. You could use regular low-sodium soy sauce instead or experiment with a different brand of dark soy sauce to adjust the flavour to your preference. You could also try reducing the amount of dark soy sauce or balancing it with a bit more water or sweetness to mellow out the flavour. Hopefully, with a few tweaks, it'll be perfect next time! 🤗

Do you mean japanese soy sauce or indonesian style (ketjap)?
PUL Team - Feb. 23, 2024, 8:41 p.m.
Hey Liesbeth, we mean the Japanese soy sauce. Indonesian-style ketjap is thicker and sweeter than dark soy sauce, but you could use it as a substitute if you wanted :)
AJ - Feb. 28, 2024, 6:47 p.m.
Hi! I'm just about to cook this recipe (a huge fan of many of your other recipies already though ;), and I got a bit confused about the soy sauce. In the video you didn't mention dark soy sauce, but under the ingredients you do. It's a huge difference between Japanese soy sauce which is normally called light and Chinese dark soy sauce. Japanese would swap well for Tamari as stated but Chinese dark is much stronger. Maybe you could specify which one you mean in the ingredient list? :) Thanks a lot!
PUL Team - Feb. 28, 2024, 11 p.m.
Hey AJ! We personally used a Japanese-style soy sauce, but a Chinese style will do as well. Both are thicker than general soy sauce :)

Hey Roshni, yes, you can use bouillon sauce instead of a cube. We'd recommend starting with less, such as 1-2 teaspoons, and then adding more to your taste preferences. You can also add the water to the sauce last just in case the bouillon sauce has enough water content in it 😊

PUL Team - Dec. 25, 2023, 11:49 a.m.
Hey Davis, seitan is the first thing that comes to mind. It's made from wheat gluten, has a meaty texture and is high in protein. You can find it at some grocery stores where the tofu is, and we'll be launching a number of seitan-based recipes into our app through the start of next year. I hope this helps for now!

This has become a weeknight staple. A great base recipe, very quick to make. However, i did find the sauce in the original recipe a bit sesame oil heavy and not as spicy for my liking. Reducing the sesame oil by a third and adding a green chilli along with the onion and garlic fixed it for me. Have tried substituting napa cabbage with thinly sliced/shredded brussel sprouts - works perfectly. Highly recommend adding shiitake mushrooms.

I have tried a few chicken chow mein recipes at home but they where were always too salty and not like the take away versions - which I was trying to create. Anyhow our daughter who is vegetarian is back glom Uni for Xmas so I looked for a veggie version. Made it tonight and my god it was good! Used ‘What the Cluck’ chicken and I can honestly say it was better than any Chow Mein I have ever had. The balance of the sauce is spot on and the chopped spring onions and sprinkle of sesame seeds on top just before serving should be a must - not optional! Terrific. Thank you, this is a keeper for sure 👌

Oh my goodness! I made this last night and it was SO good. I couldn´t find bok choy at the store, so I used collard greens instead. My 18-year-old son who doesn't like any greens took seconds - it was so yummy! I failed to prep everything ahead of time, so I was scrambling a bit, because everything kept cooking so quickly. :) Next time I will have everything ready chopped! This recipe just became our family favorite and I will be making it often. Thank you so much!

PUL Team - Nov. 10, 2023, 3:50 p.m.
Hey Anna, the vegetable bouillon cube and water (2 Tbsp/30 mL for 3 servings) can be substituted for equal parts vegetable stock or broth, or you can simply omit it. We'd recommend giving the sauce a taste test in this case, and adding some salt or soy sauce if you think it needs it 🙂

I love your recipes. Unfortunately, I have a soy allergy and I’m always looking for alternatives for soy sauce. Any suggestions on making alternatives like coconut aminos taste more like soy in your recipes?
PUL Team - Nov. 3, 2023, 9:23 a.m.
Hey Lorrie, I'm delighted to hear that you enjoy the recipes! For a soy sauce substitute, coconut aminos is indeed a great option. To make it taste more like traditional soy sauce, you could try adding a little bit of sea salt for more of that salty depth. You could also consider using a soy-free sauce like Tamari (it traditionally contains soy but there are some soy-free options on the market). If you're looking for more complexity in the umami flavor, adding a small amount of mushroom powder can also enhance the flavour profile. Remember to adjust these additions gradually and taste as you go to find the balance that works best for you.
Lorrie McFadden - Nov. 3, 2023, 5:29 p.m.
Thank you for your speedy reply! I’m going to try some chickpea miso as it is both umami and salty and see what happens. I’ve added salt but it lacks that interest that soy sauce has. I will try it on this recipe!

What is the difference between dark and light soy sauce? Currently making this recipe. :)
PUL Team - Oct. 9, 2023, 8:57 p.m.
Hey EB, dark soy sauce is generally thicker, richer, and has a more intense flavour compared to light soy sauce. It's often used for colour and depth in dishes, whereas light soy sauce is lighter in colour and flavour, and typically used for seasoning. We hope you enjoy the chow mein ✨
Pk - Nov. 11, 2023, 9:31 p.m.
Although I have used it, I never really understood the significance of soy sauce in a dish. It has quite a salty note but other than that it doesn't have a taste that contributes to the flavor of a dish. Any insight on this?

Hey Pk, soy sauce indeed offers a salty flavour but we also enjoy the umami flavours that it provides for taste and depth 😊

Very good! Don’t skip the cabbage if possible:) It added so much flavor.
I didnt have bok choi or the cabbage but i used edamame instead! For some reason I thought the finished product was lacking a bit of flavor? Or it didnt really taste as rich as I thought it was gonna taste. Maybe because the noodles sucked up all the sauce? But i added more soy sauce, rice vinagre, agave syrup and siracha and that did the trick! Overall great recipe! ❤️
PUL Team - Sept. 26, 2023, 7:05 p.m.
Hey there, Nova, thanks for sharing your experience with the chow mein! The lack of flavour could be a result of the noodle-to-sauce ratio being too high in case you might have used more noodles or a different type of noodle. Glad that the extra sauces did the trick though 😃

Lisa K - Sept. 20, 2023, 8:29 p.m.
I made this last night for me and my husband. The only change I made was to make 1.5 times the sauce. I had a LOT of vegetables and the original amount seemed just a bit scant to me. I also added some fresh mung bean sprouts to the scallion and toasted sesame seeds as a garnish. By using store-bought shredded carrots, this came together in a little over 30 minutes. I also found that my "chiken" strips didn't shred that well, so just cubed them and it worked perfectly. We actually liked that the cubes had a bit of bite that you might not get with shredding. All in all, this dish had so much flavor, great textures and was a real comfort food. So much better, fresher, lighter than restaurant Chinese food. I had leftovers for lunch and it was wonderful! I will gladly make this again.

Guilherme Ostrock - Sept. 19, 2023, 9:37 p.m.
I was searching for an easy and quick recipe for a delicious meal, and when I came across this one claiming to be effortless, I thought I had hit the jackpot.
But alas, this recipe turned out to be more of a dream than a reality. Not because it's easy and fast (35 minutes total prep time? Really?), even tough I have at least 10 years of cooking experience under my belt. I may not be the most skilled chef, but for goodness' sake, can we at least get an accurate estimate of the preparation time, from grabbing the vegetables in the fridge to properly chopping and organizing everything?
The option to scale up the recipe is a nice touch, but did anyone bother to check if it actually works after altering the quantity of servings? It's not just about creating a widget to multiply the zeroDotSomething variable (what on earth is a 0.67 napa cabbage anyway? The world uses grams/kilograms or at least the cumbersome imperial system), if in reality, you need an industrial-sized kitchen to combine everything.
This isn't the first impractical recipe I've tried, but because my wife enjoys your site, I thought, "Let's give it a try." Nevermore.
PUL Team - Sept. 19, 2023, 10:11 p.m.
Hey there, Guilherme, I'm truly sorry to hear about your disappointing experience with the recipe and our website. We strive to provide high-quality content, so it's disheartening that we've fallen short of our standard. We appreciate you taking the time to share your concerns, it helps us improve and grow 🙂
One key to the speed provided is to organize some of the ingredients while others are cooking, such as the noodles. This is what we were hoping to highlight in the accompanying video and in the way we structured the directions. The exact weight of veggies can vary, so we've avoided putting a gram measurement for fruits/veg on our site to promote less strict measuring. This is in contrast to our baking recipes, which do require more strict measurements, so these always contain gram amounts. We've taken note of your feedback and in the meantime hope that your wife continues to enjoy our content. If you have any other concerns we can always be reached at [email protected] 💌

SO GOOD! Was able to find gluten free ramen noodles and did tofu. My husband is raving about the onion chopping technique you shared on the video! I’ve never seen him so giddy about chopping an onion!

Thank you for sharing this fantastic noodle dish! I’m not vegan but my husband and I love trying vegan dishes. I did not add the mock chicken so it was all vegetables and that sauce is fantastic! I couldn’t find chow neon noodles so I had to use what I found which were Cantonese egg noodles and they were great. Thanks again!

Hello there: just stumbled on this post and I’m wondering what kind of noodles did you use? Any brand recommendations?
PUL Team - Sept. 19, 2023, 7 a.m.
Hey Chit, we use a vegan chow mein noodle from our local Asian supermarket but you could use any noodle. Ramen noodles will work if they're more accessible. We hope you love the chow mein if you're able to give it a try!☺️

Hi Team PUL, I always get confused when soy sauce is in the recipe. As you know Sadia, in The Netherlands we have sweet and salty soy sauce. I can never tell which one to use, because they both give a different taste. Which one is used here, please? Maybe you can give me the name of the brand so I can get that one. Otherwise I have ketjap mani, ketjap asin, and Japanese soy sauce. Not only do all three of them taste differently, but the consistency of each varies as well.
PUL Team - Sept. 16, 2023, 7:48 p.m.
Hey there, Shanti, apologies for any confusion. When we refer to soy sauce we mean the Japanese version (the salty one) and not ketjap (the sweet Indonesian variety). The Kikkoman brand is the one we use most often. Enjoy the recipe if you give it a try :)
Wim - Sept. 16, 2023, 10:33 p.m.
Hi Shanti, I am also from Holland and I was having the same issue. I made it with the Japanse kind, because there is also agave syrup in there and I don't want this to be so sweet. It worked very well. For the rest I did stick to the recipe. I did use the less salt variety. @pickuplimes keep up the good work, you're an inspiration and made made my transition to vegan a lot easier. 🙏
Shanti - Sept. 16, 2023, 10:56 p.m.
Hi Wim, thanks for you reply and the advice. I ended up using ketjap asin because it is salty and in the video it seemed Sadia was using something with a thick consistency but also a salty accord. The agave syrup balanced it out nicely. I made it today and it was so delicious. All the best on your plant-based journey. There are so many great YouTubers out there with fantastic recipes like Rainbow Plant Life, Yeung Man Cooking, Minimalist Baker, and Plant-Based School. Gaz Oakley has wonderful videos, too. Have a great weekend!

Tara - Sept. 13, 2023, 3:37 a.m.
I second this! I’ve not attempted any mock-chicken brands so would love some direction!
PUL Team - Sept. 13, 2023, 7:40 p.m.
Hey Malia and Tara, the mock chicken we use is the Albert Heijn house brand here in the Netherlands, although any non-breaded option would work. Two other common brands include Gardein and Tofurky if you're based in North America 😃

Just made this for lunch and it was such an amazing fast recipe that really impressed everyone. Added some ginger because I had some and it worked with the flavors. Next time I might try finishing with some fresh lime juice just for some extra zing (though it wouldn't be traditionally chow- mein-y).
PUL Team - Sept. 13, 2023, 7:36 p.m.
Ginger and lime are a lovely idea to add a twist to the chow mein! Thank you, Clarissa 😊

Thank you for sharing this simple and delicious recipe! Didn't have a bok choy at hand, so replaced it with a few celery sticks (for stems) and some spinach (for leaves) - and it turned out great! Next time will stick 100% to the recipe just to see if I didn't miss out on any interesting nuances to the flavour by messing a bit with the indregients. ;)

This was absolutely delicious and very flavourful! I didn't have to add any additional salt or other seasoning. And took me 30 minutes, start to finish :-) Instead of bok choy and napa cabbage I used swiss chard - we have a lot of it growing in our garden right now so that was what I had to use, plus carrots and bell pepper. I think this recipe will be good with a variety of vegetables and proteins.
PUL Team - Sept. 11, 2023, 9:06 p.m.

I didn't have sriracha, so I subbed gochujang. No napa cabbage or bok choy, so I used about 2/3 of a head of green cabbage. No bouillon cube so I left that out. I 1.5x'ed the sauce and added more carrot, plus used edamame instead of fake chicken. It was easy and tasted good. Next time I'll add more gochujang and chili crisp for heat.
PUL Team - Sept. 11, 2023, 6:15 p.m.

Hmm- this was OK. I felt like it lacked flavor unfortunately so I doubled the sauce ingredients and added some gochujang. Not sure I’d make this again but it was a quick dinner to throw together and will last me all week for leftovers.
PUL Team - Sept. 11, 2023, 3:29 a.m.
Hey Nedajane, thanks for taking the time to share your experience, did you substitute or omit any ingredients? The dish is rather saucy as is, so I'm wondering if maybe you used more noodles than us? In the meantime, I hope you enjoy the leftovers! 🤗

PUL Team - Sept. 11, 2023, 3:15 a.m.
So happy to hear, Colette! To reheat the chow mein leftovers, we prefer to warm it up on the stove over medium-low heat with a splash of water or sauce to prevent drying, and covering with a lid helps. Otherwise, you can also microwave it in short intervals, stirring in between, until heated 😊

A new family favourite! Added to the weekly rotation.
Love it, thank you 🙏
Loveeee it ❤️❤️❤️
My first recipe to try with my one week free trial. Thanks!!!
This recipe is awesome!! It is delicious freshly made but equally good cold the next day. Made it twice this month, definitely adding to the regular rotation.
Thank you PUL for this!
Excellent!!
Delicious
soooo tasty! You guys just never disappoint ❤
Fabulous taste. This has become our Family’s Lo Mein go to recipe. Our Boys love it. We are looking forward to trying some of your other recipes!!
Can I use anything instead of the mock chicken pieces? I don't think I find these so readily in my local market.
Spectacular! I just took my first bites and already am excited to make it again!
Me and my family loooovvveee this dish. Even the 6 and 2 year old. My 6 year old says it tastes like egg rolls.
Hi!
It looks absolutely amazing… Can I replace the sriracha sauce with anything? Unfortunately it’s not available in my region (as well as the sambal oelek)… I’ll be thankful for your answer. Thanks for everything!
So, so easy it was ridiculous. Delicious, tastes nutritious fresh and for work lunches.
One of my favourite recipes, i've been making it every week 😊 it is so easy amd super delicious.
Thank you
This was delicious! Gold star from the kiddos. We will be making this again.
Delicious!
Heerlijk dit!
This one was soo good! Thank you!! Will make it again soon for dinner with my mum 🌿
Love how veggie heavy yet comforting this meal is. Another win from this app for our family of 7! Thank you so much!
Loved it , thank you for sharing the recipe , god bless❤️
This is delicious. Since the recipe was created, I have made it many, many times. It pleases everyone in my house, which is exceptionally rare.
One of the best recipes for us!
So good!
Absolutely delicious. Had to drop the cabbage as I’m intolerant and it was still yummy 😍
Fantastic flavor and incredibly fast. So easy to personalize with anything you have on hand. I doubled the sauce (because we're saucy like that).
Delicious, fast, and easy! I used soy curls instead of mock chicken. Other times I've used air fried tofu but it's always a fantastic meal.
This might possibly be my favourite P recipe of all times! Except for one
the time when I used regular sesame oil instead of toasted - a very disappointing result compared to the usual rich flavours.
Amazing, will make again!
Adictive
One of my favorite things ever. It's a little work with chopping all the veggies (I'm slow) BUT ITS SO GOOOOOOD. My entire family loves this and I always have to double it 😭💗
One of our favourite dishes since we tried it. Could eat this everyday.
Really delicious 😊
Homemade comfort food, you can’t beat it!
Unfortunately for my taste the sauce was too strong and overpowering 😔 it might be the brand of my dark soy sauce though. Maybe I should try with a different one 🤷♀️
This turned out exceptionally well! You are not kidding when you say you will make it again and again! Very flavourful and satisfying.
Great recipe but the sauce was not enough for me to coat the whole thing. In my opinion, it needs at least double the amount of sauce, which is what I did and it came out juicy. It's a great recipe!
I've never actually made whole recipe but the sauce... that's my ultimate solution for "I don't know what's for dinner" problem xD just toss some random stuff on wok and pour the sauce, never disappoints.
This was soooo good!
I was a little worried because I'm allergic to sesame seeds and I couldn't include sesame oil in the sauce. I was afraid it would lack in flavor, but this dish is anything but lacking! I bet with the toasted sesame oil it's 15 outta 10 stars 😋
Which "chickn" brand do you use with this? Thanks!
I’ve been a long time Pick Up Limes fan, and I’ve enjoyed many of their recipes over the years. This might be the best Pick Up Limes recipe that I’ve ever tried. It’s delicious, comfy, and powerful. I literally gasped when I tried the first bite. Do yourself a favor and try this. I promise it’ll be so worth it!
We doubled it and the only change I would make next time is to maybe cut back on the sesame oil a little to cut down on the oils. First thing we made and very impressed.
I know what’s missing from this recipe, shallots! I added fried shallots and it tasted so moch better.
I think I know better recipe for this one
Made this tonight for the first time. Recipe was easy to follow - appreciated the video! Super tasty!! Definitely holding onto this recipe - will make again! A friend of mine was over for dinner when I made it and she asked for the recipe. Thanks so much! :)
Do you mean japanese soy sauce or indonesian style (ketjap)?
My husband and I love trying this recipe. We will make it again..
Loved it. Thanks
I loved this. My child was not a fan of the cabbage. Curious what adaptions could be made so it would be more kid friendly. Shall I just use broccoli? Any other ideas?
Delicious!
This had such potential but unfortunately the dark soy sauce we bought must’ve been wayyy darker than the one used in the recipe and the end result was darker than the photo, too strong and way too salty for my taste.
Delicious! Its a rotation Keeper! I added sliced shitakes too!
Enjoyed it! I'm not a very good cook, but this was very easy to make and so delicious!
One of my family’s favorite PUL meals 😋 Just delicious
My kids (nearly-8 and -5) and I worked together to cook this tonight. Admittedly a couple of changes (sweet chilli instead of sriracha, and we added a non-vegan option), but we all loved it. My daughter insisted that I rate this 5 stars, and I agree!
My whole family absolutely love this dish! We have it at least once a week and it’s my 14 year old daughters favorite meal. ❤️
Can I substitute sesame oil for olive oil?
This is SOOO delicious!!!
It was the first time my husband ever liked anything with a meat substitute (I usually try to find recipes with other ingredients so he doesn't feel "tricked"). It was also the first time using napa cabbage. I do wonder what else to use if for though. We made it 2 nights last week but still had half a head of napa cabbage over.
Thank you for this amazing recipe!
One of the best meals I have ever made for myself! I used tofu crumble instead of mock chicken and a whole head of Napa cabbage in place of the bok choy and it was fantastic! The sauce is truly incredible! So delicious! I am obsessed :)
Super good! Really did taste similar to take out. I added mushroom, broccoli and snow peas. You could really get creative with the veggies.
Next time I'm going to try and lower the sodium in the sauce and see how it changes things.
Very good base recipe!
This was so delicious - love all the healthy vegetables and it tasted like takeout but better :)
So delicious and very easy to make.
Great recipe. The sauce was excellent, and I appreciated the substitution options. I added in more veggies and different noodles (using what I had on hand) but it all worked really well. Family approved.
I love it! . Great recipe for a last minute meal. I add some tofu and it’s was really good. Thanks!
Cooking this at least once a month since I discovered it. One of my favourite comfort dishes.
Can you use bouillon sauce instead of cube?
So I used the sauce to jazz up some broccoli and it was excellent. Next time, I think I will mix the corn starch and water first to make a slurry.
Love this recipe!
PS: You can 100% substitute dark soy sauce with any other soy sauce and it will taste great
Delicioso
Superlekker!!
Ik kan dit blijven eten!!!!!!
So good! I skipped the mock chicken and added more veggies instead. Love it 🧡
Omg, this is sooooo delicious! I make it quite often since I explored this recipe in the PUL App. I also like to experiment. Once I didn’t have mock chicken, so I skipped this, but it still was delicious. I experimented also with different noodles like ramen, udon or soba noodles. Every time it was still great. Today together with the mock chicken I also added shiitake mushrooms. So, it is just perfect recipe!
Hello S. !
Soooooooo delicious ! thank you for adding tips and jo in the video ! I really do appreciate this recipe, so does my husband.
Have a nice day !
M.
This is so good! I've made it several times. I didn't have any chicken substitute or tofu tonight, so I steamed some edamame to have on the side.
I’m planning to make tomorrow. Is it possible to sub the “chicken” with tofu?
This was sooo good! Not sure we will ever use a different stir-fry sauce again!
Loved the recipe 🔥💕
This is the best noodle dish! I'm addicted to it! I've made it every week since I first tried it a month ago. I use a bag of coleslaw mix (with the cabbage already chopped up) as a shortcut.
Love this recipe and the option to change portion sizes was very helpful! Any suggestions on a protein to use for my daughter who can’t have soy or peas/pea protein?
Another winner! Absolutely devoured this and already looking forward to the next time I'm making it. Tip: If you're cooking for 4 people, prepare a large pan or wok, it was overflowing from my largest sauté pan.
Freaking amazing! Going to make double batches to freeze for “take out” nights 😉
I tried this recipe. Really liked it. My friend liked it as well. Its very earthy and warm recipe. Thank you Sadia.
Just made this! Really easy to make and so so good. I used smoked Tofu instead of the "chicken", worked really well!
Made this tonight absolutely loved it🌱💚
100% will make this again, really tasty and super simple to make 😊 thank you 🫶🏽
This is now a menu regular. Really tasty and so easy to make. I've been working my way though different vegan stir fry recipes. The cornflour in this makes all the difference!
Love these! It’s become my go-to noodle recipe 😍
Very yummy, definitely one for the "make more often" list, thanks!
Delicious and easy to make. Haven't had a bad recipe from PUL yet, they are all good!
This is so very yummy and quick to make! I use maple syrup and I often change the serving size to 1 for lunch when working from home. 👌
Delicious and simple
Quick and easy and versatile. Love the sauce, wow!
I used mushrooms instead of mock chicken and it turned out great
Perfect! Would 100% recommend!
Loved this. So did my non vegan teens. Hoovered it up :)
It was delicious and the amount of spice was just perfect :) very easy to make as well!
Turned out so good! Love all the fresh veggies in it. It was super easy to make too.
Amazingly delicious! Thank you for this recipe 🙏🏼 my kids love it! Very easy to make 😊
Amazing! Delicious!
This meal looks and tastes so appetizing. Your recipes make me want to eat healthy! Thank you!
Can the sauce be made in advance and refrigerated?
So good! Perfect for workdays! 💚
It's easily prepared and perfect if you're not having a lot of time but still want to enjoy a delicious meal. I'm definitely going to make it again.
Really looking forward to trying this! Any alternatives to the ½ vegetable bouillon cube?
I made this today and it was delicious, definitely one I'll be doing again and again! I also added ginger and cayenne pepper for a bit of heat.
The recipe is absolutely delicious. And it’s so easy to follow the instructions. Although I’d put a small note at step 0 or 1 to start boiling the water 😅 I completely forgot
I adore it! Very tasty, not so hard to make. This app made my life so much easier :D
I love your recipes. Unfortunately, I have a soy allergy and I’m always looking for alternatives for soy sauce. Any suggestions on making alternatives like coconut aminos taste more like soy in your recipes?
My whole family loved this recipe, I’ll definitely be making it again!
Excellent! I used different veg and Shandong ramen noodles. I also used tofu dredged in cornstarch and Chinese 5-spice. There wasn't enough sauce for hubby and I, so I doubled that part of the recipe.
Making this tonight!
OMG it was a flavor explosion in my mouth !!!!
Just made this for dinner - wow, so good! My husband and I loved it. Easy to prepare and quick to cook and so tasty. Instead of the fake 'chicken' I used roasted portabella mushrooms.
Definitely part of our ongoing menus. Thanks
So tasty! I make ramen with rice noodles often and this was like a non-soup version. Definitely will make a again!
My boyfriend said this was the best thing I ever cooked and he was right, this is delicious
This was really good. I made it for my non-vegan roommates and they loved it. It was also really easy with minimal prep after a 10hr work day.
Easy and delicious!
I love noodles and these are always a good for a go to!! I put tofu and the veggies that I had at home, that's why I like them, very versatile 🍜🍜🍜🍜🍜
This was so easy and so good! My kids loved it. Definitely making this again.
It was sooo delicious! My husband is now carrying a huge food baby.
Love it!! I made a soy-free, non-vegan version. Delicious! 😋
Tested it and loved it! 😋😋
I didn’t have the right noodles for this so I just used vermicelli rice noodles instead and it was still delicious! Adding to our household recipes for sure 😋
Good
What is the difference between dark and light soy sauce? Currently making this recipe. :)
So yummy and warming. Super easy to cook!
I'm trying this tomorrow. Is there a side dish like a salad or maybe a soup you recommend to serve the noodles with.
Thanks!
Had everything at home, put it together and it was delicious! You can also deepfreeze the portions.
This is so delicious and such a nice change from my usual recipe roster, especially because it sneaks cabbage into my diet (which I normally struggle to enjoy)! I love the sauce in particular, it really brings the dish together and I'll be using it with other veggie combos. A lot of chopping but very easy to make and it comes together in around an hour! Really recommend it!
A favourite with our family as well!!
Thanks, Sadia
from a fellow Canadian🇨🇦
Soo goood😍 We already made it twice in one week. Huge recommendation
Definitely on the regular rotation now! Super delicious and easy. Very important to have all the ingredients ready to go when it's time to cook, haha 😅
Love this recipe so much, we've added this to our rotation! I recommend using half dark soy sauce and half light, for a bit of extra flavour :) Thank you PUL team!
Very good! Don’t skip the cabbage if possible:) It added so much flavor.
Good, I’d probably prefer slightly lower soy sauce
Can’t wait to try this!!
No lie, this became an instant favorite. The ingredients were so simple and everything came together perfectly; 10/10 would make again
SO good!! Will be making this on repeat 🔁
The whole family liked it 👌🏼
Just made this and it was amazing! Thanks Sadia ☺️
I was really excited to try this recipe after watching the YouTube video, and it sounded very promising that the whole PUL team was obsessed with this dish. Unfortunately, I found that the dish lacks a bit of flavor and that extra oomph that I was hoping for. I won't make it again. It is important to note that I'm Vietnamese and used to bolder flavors, so this version does not do it for me.
So GOOD!!! I’ve tried a few chow main recipes in the past and this is definitely the winner!
Absolutely to die for. Even my husband was impressed
Absolutely loved it! We added shiitake mushroom and we did miss a little bit of crunch so added some salted peanuts. Will definitely make again.
This recipe is just perfection! Thank you for sharing 😉
When I made this I mistakenly added a lot less cabbage but it was still delicious despite my mistake 😋
My husband came in while I was watching this video, and said “Yum, that looks good. Are you gonna make it?” We immediately went to the grocery store and got bok choy and napa cabbage, which I’ve never cooked with before. I already had all the other ingredients! We both loved the delicious flavor, textures, and healthful goodness of this dish. I loved how simple, quick and easy it was. I even enjoy the zen of veggie prep. It’s a good thing this keeps in the frig for a few days, cuz the recipe for 3 servings made enough for 6. (We always save room for dessert.)
A little too sweet, so I’ll make again with less agave
Yummy noodles, the sauce is incredible!
SO delicious, family devoured + said it was like a restaurant meal 💗 I didn’t have a bulllion cube and omitted it + don’t think we missed it- this app is THE BEST!!!
Yum! Will definitely make again. I'd love to see some other sauce flavor rotations that I can do with this recipe.

I was so shocked at how tasty this dish was! I have made asian-inspired dishes in the past and it never tastes as good as when I get it take-away, but this one tastes BETTER than take-away. Will definitely be making this one again (and again!).
Fantastic recipe when I’m craving Panda Express, I will add more veggies next time like mini corn and water chestnuts. I feel you could add any veg to this and it will be amazing
Amazing!!!! We loved this dish. So much flavor. Can’t wait to have it again-SOON!
These noodles were a real hit! I especially loved the combination of bok choy and cabbage together with the noodles and sauce. I used tofu which worked really well too.
This week was my second time making it and it just yummy! The sauce is so tasty *chef kiss*. I doubled the sauce to have more of it for the extra noodles I made. Thank you PUL team!
This recipe was bomb!!!! It is easy and delicious. Thank you so much!
Tried this tonight and it was amazing!!! I used buckwheat soba noodles instead of chow mein and the husband loved it!
Super yummy! My husband and I both enjoyed it !
I need a sharper knife with all the chopping and a larger pan for my family of 5, but we’ll worth the effort!
It was a really delicious recipe. Probably took me an hour from getting ingredients out to completing cooking. I thought there may be too strong a flavour from the sesame oil but it was absolutely fine . This will be a regular recipe for us. I used savoy cabbage in place of the Chinese cabbage. Thank you for the recipe.
Heerlijk!!!! Had het met peasmaker gemaakt maar die vond ik te zacht. Volgende keer met de “kip stukjes”. Maar voor herhaling vatbaar.
Tried this recipe for dinner last night and it was amazing! I loved the sauce was subtle but had a lot of flavor. I substituted with tofu and the veggies I had on hand. My husband had it for lunch the next day and said it was even tastier with the flavors absorbed
Hi! I saw this recipe last week and immediately tried it, it was fantastic! So tasty and good and the flavors go together very well! Making it the second time now haha!
Delicious ! <3
great receipie
Delicious! This recipe is saved.
SO GOOD! Was able to find gluten free ramen noodles and did tofu. My husband is raving about the onion chopping technique you shared on the video! I’ve never seen him so giddy about chopping an onion!
Super Delicious! A Keeper.
Loved this! And my teenagers did too! ♥️🤩
Delicious and easy to make!
Hi Team PUL,
I always get confused when soy sauce is in the recipe.
This was delicious! 🥰 The sauce is a game changer 😍 sooo yummy!
Wow! Yummy 😋
This was really quick and easy for a week night. I made a bunch of tweaks (different noods, different veg) to suit what I had in the house already, but left the sauce the same and it was very tasty!
Perfect, really good
This was delicious. I added a little peanut butter with the other sauce ingredients...it came out amazing.
This is such a simple but so delicious recipe 🤤 couldn't stop eating!
beautiful ! I'll try it right away ! thank you
Great flavors - easy to make
Excellent 🙌
Excited to try this, but wondering if the PUL team has any recommendations for the mock chicken? I'm new to the mock-meat game and am worried I'll get one that's not so yum. Thanks!
Just made this for lunch and it was such an amazing fast recipe that really impressed everyone. Added some ginger because I had some and it worked with the flavors. Next time I might try finishing with some fresh lime juice just for some extra zing (though it wouldn't be traditionally chow- mein-y).
About to go to the grocery store and just curious what kind of noodles - rice, ramen, Udon? Not sure if type of noodle matters, but I want to get it right because this looks yummy!
Saw the video on your Youtube channel today and my immediate thought was mmm I have to try this! Gathered all the ingredients and with your instructions it was so easy to create. I did use chicken instead of the vegan option, which took longer to cook but turned out great. We all loved this recipe, thank you so much!!! <3
Sincerely,
Maryam Khan.
Saw the recipe last evening and knew I wanted to waste no time and try it today. And it was absolutly amazing. Even my Sister who is a great cook said it tasted like in the restaurant.
PUL recipes have truely never failed me. Cant belive I get all these wonderful vegan recipes for free! Thank you and a warm hug to the whole team <3
Made for dinner tonight, super delicious! Added zucchini as I couldn’t find bok choy at my local grocery store.
Thank you for sharing this recipe! We Loved it. I had to do some tweaks bc I didn’t have all the ingredients, but still was so delish.
Thank you for sharing this simple and delicious recipe! Didn't have a bok choy at hand, so replaced it with a few celery sticks (for stems) and some spinach (for leaves) - and it turned out great! Next time will stick 100% to the recipe just to see if I didn't miss out on any interesting nuances to the flavour by messing a bit with the indregients. ;)
Simple, delicious and the whole family loved it! Doubled the recipe (love the scaling feature) and it was perfect!
This was absolutely delicious and very flavourful! I didn't have to add any additional salt or other seasoning. And took me 30 minutes, start to finish :-)
Instead of bok choy and napa cabbage I used swiss chard - we have a lot of it growing in our garden right now so that was what I had to use, plus carrots and bell pepper. I think this recipe will be good with a variety of vegetables and proteins.
Bomb recipe!
Hmm- this was OK. I felt like it lacked flavor unfortunately so I doubled the sauce ingredients and added some gochujang. Not sure I’d make this again but it was a quick dinner to throw together and will last me all week for leftovers.
Omg, this is dangerously good! Will definitely be making it again. If I refrigerate the leftovers, any tips on reheating them?
Just happened to have everything needed to make this recipe and YES!! It was incredible I will definitely be making this again!
