About Pick Up Limes

Does Pick Up Limes offer personalized nutrition counseling or support?

We don't, although if you require nutrition support, we highly recommend seeing a dietitian in your area who can work with you one-on-one.

Can I join the Pick Up Limes team?

Thanks for your interest in joining the Pick Up Limes team! Our team is at capacity at the moment. When we're looking for new team members, we'll likely share a post about it on our social media.

Which camera and gear do you use?

For all filming and photography equipment we use, visit our photography & filming essentials shop page.

What is the Pick Up Limes food philosophy?

Our slogan is nourish the cells and the soul, and this really encompasses our food philosophy. While we do believe in making nutritionally balanced food choices as often as possible (to nourish the cells) we also believe in the principles of intuitive eating (to nourish the soul). Intuitive eating is the practice of listening to our inner hunger cues to dictate what and how much to eat. This helps us build trust with our bodies, and it rejects the notion of "good" and "bad" foods. We don't believe there are any guilty pleasures when it comes to food, but rather, that all food is a pleasure to eat.

Who designed the Pick Up Limes website and mobile app?

Robin with the help of Sadia! For the first 4 years, we used Wix to build and host our website. It has a great visual editor and we highly recommend it for anyone starting out with their own website - it's incredibly user-friendly. At the start of 2021, we moved over to the website you're currently on, which we designed and coded ourselves from the ground up. In 2022, we started to code the Pick Up Limes mobile App. It was a labour of love and we're incredibly grateful to our beta-testers for their support along the way.

Is the Pick Up Limes content only meant for those who are plant-based or vegan?

Certainly not! The Pick Up Limes tips and recipes can be enjoyed by all, regardless of dietary choices. At Pick Up Limes, we do believe in the many health, environmental, and ethical benefits of following a plant-based lifestyle, but we would never pressure it on anyone. Ultimately, this is your decision. We hope that if you do choose to include more plants in your life, that our recipes and nutrition information help you feel more confident in doing so ☺️

Do you have any other resources you’d recommend to learn more about plant-based lifestyles?

The Pick Up Limes mobile App is the perfect tool for your plant-based journey! We also love the book  Becoming Vegan by Vesanto Melina and Brenda Davis , both Registered Dietitians.  The book is a simple yet comprehensive resource loaded with evidence-based information. Another informative resource is the book of the medical physician, Dr. Greger.

Cooking & Recipes

Does Pick Up Limes have a cookbook?

No, we don't have a physical cookbook yet, but we're working on it. Stay tuned!

What if I don't have an ingredient listed in a recipe?

Try swapping it out👩‍🍳 Very often, we share substitution suggestions beside an ingredient if we can think of one. Simply click the green arrows next to the ingredient to reveal our suggestions. Otherwise, feel free to try making the recipe your own way. We can't guarantee that the recipe will work if deviated from our original write-up, but we're all about experimenting in the kitchen. We think it's the best way to learn and become a more confident cook! If you try any substitutions we’d also love to hear how went in the comments.

I'm allergic to nuts/gluten, do you have any recipes for me?

Absolutely! By visiting our recipe index page you can filter based on your allergens or intolerances. The common allergens that can be filtered out are soy, peanut, tree nut, sesame, and gluten.

Can I share recipes on my own platform?

You're welcome to share public recipes from the Pick Up Limes website so long as a statement is included saying that the recipe is from Pick Up Limes, with a link that directs the viewer to the recipe on our blog should they wish to learn more. We respectfully decline the sharing of exclusive recipes from the Pick Up Limes mobile app to honour the hard work our team puts into the app and the support of those who purchase the app. Note that reproduction and distribution, in whole or in part, for direct commercial gain is not permitted for any of our content, such as publishing recipes in an (e)book.

What kitchen equipment do you recommend?

You don't need much to enjoy delicious food.  At PUL, we most commonly use our blender, food processor, garlic crusher, cutting board, and knives. We believe in keeping things simple, both in the kitchen and in life. If you'd like to learn more about our favourite appliances, watch our video on kitchen essentials . For those who prefer private non-plant-based items on their profile, the app allows manual additions, although please note that personal items cannot currently be included in personal recipes. How can I turn off the vibration (haptic feedback) on touching buttons such as the like button and the navigating-between-nourish-day buttons?

Vibrations (haptic feedback) can be turned off for your entire device, i.e., for all apps simultaneously, but there is currently no way to turn off haptics in the PUL app only. On iOS, haptics feedback is turned off by going to "Settings" > Sounds & Haptics > and then toggling off "System haptics”. On Android, this is achieved by going to "Settings" > "Sound & vibration" > "Vibration & haptics" > toggle off "Use vibration & haptics".

Nourish

How are the general nutrient targets created?

The nutrition targets listed are in line with guidelines by the Institute of Medicine and the European Food Safety Authority following a review of the latest research, including plant-based expert recommendations. For more information, stay tuned for our e-book launch with more details 🤓 Kindly note that it’s always best to see a healthcare professional for personalized suggestions.

How is the nutrition content for recipes and ingredients determined?

The nutrition information is composed using comprehensive datasets, such as the United States Department of Agriculture FoodData Central Database. The estimates are created with the utmost care, although if you have questions about a specific ingredient or recipe please contact us at [email protected]. If you require specific nutrition information due to a medical condition, please consult with a healthcare professional, such as a dietitian or physician.

How does the Pick Up Limes mobile app determine how many colourful Nourish orbs I need in a day?

The daily Nourish goals - indicated by the colorful Nourish orbs - are determined by energy requirements which are auto-calculated based on your biometrics (weight, height, age, etc.). Our nutrition team determined the relationship between the orbs and energy requirements through a rigorous review of plant-based literature and an in-depth numerical analysis of thousands of meal plans. To override the suggestions and customize orbs to your preference, you can input custom energy requirements, or input a manual target for the orbs. You can also hide the Nourish orbs from appearing in the meal planner in "nutrition settings" if desired

Do I have to count calories or track nutrients?

Absolutely not! We believe that focusing on numbers can harm our relationship with food. Instead, our philosophy is to Nourish the Cells and the Soul. If desired, rather than tracking numbers the nourish orbs can provide a general structure to promote nutrient adequacy in plant-based lifestyles. We recognize that everyone is different, though, and to support a positive relationship with food, the Nourish Cell and nutrient information can also be hidden on the App.

Can I use the Pick Up Limes app if I want to lose or gain weight?

Here at PUL, our goal is to aim for sustainable, long-term lifestyle choices that support our overall health and well-being. We believe that weight is just a number (that commonly changes over time!) and encourage focusing on wholesome behaviours rather than focusing on numbers. The energy recommendations provided in the app by default promote weight maintenance. We advise those hoping to lose or gain weight to work with a healthcare professional, such as a physician or dietitian, for ongoing and more personalized support. Targets provided by a healthcare professional can be inserted into the app if desired.

A food item I want to use isn’t on the Pick Up Limes mobile app?

You can add custom items to the Pick Up Limes mobile app, or you can submit a request for adding a plant-based item to the Pick Up Limes database by contacting us at [email protected].

Here are some steps to troubleshoot: 1) Double-check payment information: Ensure that your payment information is up to date and correctly set up. 2) Confirm time zone and date settings: Incorrect date, time, or time zone settings on the device can lead to subscription-related issues. 3) Use an alternative form of payment: Consider trying an alternative payment method, such as a credit card if you initially used PayPal. If you're still having trouble, please connect with Google Play Store Support for Android Devices or Apple Store Support for iOS Devices . You can also connect with us at [email protected] 🤗

Can I use the Pick Up Limes mobile app on multiple devices?

Yes, all the devices linked to your Apple or Google Play ID can use the same subscription. While most features such as Nourish plans, grocery lists, recipes, items, and favourites are shared between devices, kindly note that if biometric data, such as height or weight, is added to an account on one device it will not be shared between devices (or anywhere) for privacy reasons.

Are subscriptions auto-renewed?

This information will help us better understand and troubleshoot the problem!

Do you offer refunds?

We're in charge of making the app great, but when it comes to refunds, that's Apple's and Google's territory. They handle all the App Store and Play Store transactions, so you'll need to contact them if you're seeking a refund. You can do so via Apple Support for iOS devices and and through the Google Play Help Centre for Android devices.

Why can't I log into my account?

To access your account, please use the sign-in method that you used to create your account - either email, Gmail, or Apple. If you use Gmail or Apple, you can log in using the same password you already use on these platforms. If you use email, click on the "send sign-in link to email" option to receive a unique log-in code via email. Check your junk folder in case the email ends up there! Once you receive the email, click on the link provided to open a webpage, then follow the on-screen instructions. If you're still having trouble, please connect with us at [email protected] 🤗

This means that you can restore your subscription even if you lose access to your account or accidentally delete it. For Android subscriptions, account restoration is not possible. Kindly also note that deleting your account does not cancel an active subscription.

I'm not receiving a login email for the Pick Up Limes mobile app?

A quick solution if you’re having trouble logging in via email is to consider signing up with your Apple or Google Play ID. If you prefer email and aren’t receiving an email to log in though, your email server may be marking the Pick Up Limes mobile app login message as spam. We kindly invite you to add “[email protected]" as a safe sender to your contact list and re-try logging in via email - be sure your email address is spelled correctly. Check your email, including junk or spam folders. The email should be received within a few minutes! If you're still having trouble, please connect with us at [email protected] 💌

Why is my email link not redirecting me to the app

Some browsers or apps don't redirect the sign-in link into the PUL app based on our settings. To complete the sign-in, we recommend using a different browser such as Safari on iOS devices or Google Chrome on Android devices. On iOS press and hold the link to get multiple options for opening the link if you have different browsers installed. In Safari on iOS, the button "Open app" will appear at the top of your screen. If using Firefox on Android devices, click the three dots in the right corner > click the button that says "open in app". On Samsung Internet, try pressing the PUL logo displayed in the search bar. If this does not help. Consider signing up with your Apple ID or Google account instead. Please connect with us at [email protected] if there's anything we can help with along the way 💌

Signing in with Google gives an "Access Blocked" error.

Try setting a different browser as your default. When signing in with Google, your device uses its default browser to complete the authentication process. Google deems certain apps, such as Bing Chat, to be insecure and won't complete the authentication process due to security reasons. Using Chrome as your default browser will likely solve this issue.
